This is a classic kindle book with a lot of very basic information and few photos. It is designed for an absolute beginner but I frequently felt that it left out important information. For instance, the page about hanging plants didn’t mention that one drawback is that they dry out very quickly so you need to do daily watering a lot of the time, or that sweet potatoes need a long growing season. She also said you can plant veggies in any container at all as long as you can put drainage holes in it, and gives an old boot as an example. Plants will leach out chemicals from containers so you should be careful not to use ones made of materials that were not intended for food or gardening. Many containers are made with paints, plastics, sealants, contaminants, heavy metals, preservatives, etc that you don’t want your vegetables to absorb. This book didn’t have any new information for me and it was lacking the inspiration photos and plant photos I would have liked, but it could be a good fit for others.

I read a digital copy of this book via netgalley.

This was a simple book with a lot of lists for basic starting of gardening. I was not able to finish the book before it expired so i would not be able to give a more thorough review.
The book is probably good way to start the projects in one's home

As a person who wanted to start growing more veggies lately, I found this book to have everything I wanted to know.

From solutions for small spaces (with pros and cons so it's easy to pick the best option for you) to what plants you can grow, how to tend to them and how to solve common issues, but also, because I really had an issue with this, when to harvest. I lost so much basil because I didn't harvest it when I should have.

The book is written in a very easy to read way, without scientific or pompous words, so anyone can understand it easily. I think it's a good point if you are just starting, but if you have some experience, this book might be a bit too simple for you.

That being said, I found this book to contain all the knowledge I might want to find in a book about gardening that can guide you from start to finish while making the process easy to understand and follow.

I have read a lot of gardening books that are supposedly for beginners, but we're over my head. This book actually has helpful information for a complete beginner, but great info for those who may need to refresh their gardening skills.

This book is brilliant!!!! It is such a helpful guide for anyone wanting to grow vegetables in a small space. It covers all the basics, like why growing your own food is worth it, how to get started, and practical tips for small-space gardening. The author walks you through everything—when and how to plant, transplanting, watering, sunlight needs, and even pest control and harvesting. I loved how it took the guesswork out of things with clear container recommendations and handy tables that show which vegetables work best in different setups.

The advice is super well-organized and easy to follow, making it perfect for beginners or people like me with limited space. I never even thought about setting up containers on a kitchen wall or using raised flowerbeds, but now I’m excited to try! Whether you’re working with a windowsill or scaling back to a smaller garden, this book is full of practical, inspiring ideas. I can already tell it’ll be something I reference again and again.

My Short Version review:

This book is really useful!

Long Version:

This book covers a lot of what I would want to try to plant. The chapters cover things like "Why you should grow your own vegetables, small space strategies, Tools and preparation, Best vegetables for small space garden, seeds, seedlings, and set, pest and disease control, Harvesting tips." Plants include many herbs, fruiting vegetables, leafy greens, and vegetable staples. The author guides you right from when to start planting particular vegetables and such (some indoors during winter still), how to transplant, watering and sunshine needs, when to start thinking of harvesting, etc. It really takes the guess work out of things, particularly with the recommended pot sizes, raised flowerbed instead suggestions and the space needed per plant.

Information was well organized in a method that is very intuitive for the reader. The author even has some tables setup as a quick guide for what plants would do best in what type of container.

This gives great information for growing vegetables in small spaces. It never occurred to me to set up a growing area in many different places. I am sure I will reference this book many many times. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.

This book is full of helpful gardening information that's easy to understand. I plan on using this guide this year as I create my own small space garden.

There was a formatting issue with this ebook, the tables did not appear as a table, just a jumble of words. I'm not sure if this is only due to the fact that I'm reading an eARC, (I hope that's the case).

A lovely book for everyone and anyone interested in vegetable gardens, but who might not have the space, or time and energy for a big garden. This you can do with little money as well. You get good guidance in what to do, what to do, and lots of good tips, as well as pros and cons about things like seeds or seedlings, pots or raised beds. If you want to take the first step, this book will help you!

Very good book for info about starting a veggie garden
in a tight place... small yard or apartment. If my cats would
just stop eating the plants that would be best!

A very in depth guide, offering solutions and showing how much you can grow in doors. It makes you think how you can utilize your own spcae and produce healthy food. I liked the tables included which meant for an easy assessment of what you can grow in which size of containers. However, I would have valued a contents page which was clickable so I could have clicked to the specific veggie I wanted to look at. I do not know whether this was an issue on my end, or on the editors etc.

This is a great book, showing how almost anyone can grow their own vegetables, and why they should. The book is practical and to the point, with very good basic information. There are a few necessary illustrations, and I hope the printed version will have a few more.

I've always wanted a garden, but living in an apartment made it feel impossible. I’d tried a few times but kept failing, so I started to think maybe gardening just wasn’t for me. This book is packed with straightforward tips for container and vertical gardening, soil and watering advice, plus practical pest control methods. It really breaks down everything into doable steps, making the idea of a small-space garden feel totally within reach. Now, I’m excited to give it another shot and finally grow my own veggies!
