Christmas Cancellation by Evie James was a delightful holiday romance that ticked a lot of boxes for me, earning a solid 4 stars.
The festive vibes were spot-on, and I loved the blend of classic holiday tropes like forced proximity and opposites attract. Noelle and Kol's chemistry was undeniable, and their banter kept me hooked from the beginning. The snowy road trip and small-town holiday charm gave the story a cozy, feel-good atmosphere that made it perfect for the season.
That said, there were moments where the pacing felt a bit rushed, especially considering the entire story unfolded in such a short time. While I enjoyed the spicy scenes, a few of them felt slightly out of sync with the emotional tone of the story. I would have liked a little more buildup to their connection to balance the heat with the heart.
Overall, Christmas Cancellation was a quick, fun, and steamy read that left me smiling. If you’re looking for a festive romance with emotional depth and a touch of spice, this one is worth picking up!
Meh.
Maybe it’s just that I’m getting older, but chapters-long sex scenes don’t do it for me. I found myself quickly skimming over the spicy parts after the first one. Too much heat can actually make you numb.
There wasn’t enough story for the way this concluded. The entire thing takes place within the span of a week. Too much happened too quickly. I just wasn’t impressed.

Christmas Cancellations was a little more spicy than I thought it would be . I wasn’t expecting a slight fifty shades to it. Cute holiday rom com different holiday read for sure though. I was hooked from the start and did really enjoy the characters and i hope the story continues
Oh. My. God! I fell in love with Noelle and Kol’s story!
Got me into the Christmas Spirit and I loved it!
I rate this a 5 star! If I could go higher I would!
the spice, the laughs, the tears, the love! It shows throughout the book and the story of them both finding one another through the hard times they have had.
Thank you NetGalley for approving my ARC!
**ARC Review**
Christmas Cancellation is a Wonderful Life remix with a lot of spice. I love a silly little Christmas Romance but this one unfortunately did not hit. The romance had no slow burn, the characters frustrated me because all of the sudden everyone is a licensed therapist(?) and I just didn't vibe with either character.
If you are into (kind of) forced proximity, kind of dom spice, and snowed in themes/tropes you might love, for me it just didn't hit - that being said I did finish it in legit a day....
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in return for my honest review
Noelle and Kol had me racing through emotions all over the place throughout this book. Their romance was fast and furious but sprinkled in with humor, grief and trauma.
There were a few parts of the book that were a little unexpected and had me in tears as it hurt to read of the trauma that both characters experienced. It was great to see them both turn it into something great at the end although I felt that it just ended. I was a little confused when I turned the page and there was nothing left to read.
Some of the spicy parts felt a little strange too at times and too much for the way the story was going. They also, in my opinion, didn't really match how the story would go later in the book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the author for this ARC!
This was a cute festive girl goes back to her
Hometown romcom. I did enjoy it but some parts fell flat and unrealistic for me. But overall I did enjoy the flow and story of the book
Wow I could not stand the fmc in this book 😂 I couldn’t feel any chemistry with the characters and the writing was not flowing for me. Really wanted a cute Christmas book but this one was not for me.
Noelle's life is a mess. Her aunt died and she must get to Saratoga from Atlanta before the end of the day. The 2nd leg of her flight from LaGuardia is cancelled due to a massive snowstorm at the destination, and she throws a fit. Up walks Captain Kol who dismisses her tantrum and puts her in her place. As he walks away, he hears her say she wishes she was never born. That tore at his heart. Since he was heading that way, he offers to drive her. As they drive the storm worsens and it gets a bit dicey. She is feisty, he is disciplined and together they help each other in more ways than one. A nice story of overcoming trauma and being strong when the other person needs it. It has spicy scenes but is well written. I enjoyed this book. I received an advance reader copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
"Christmas Cancellation by Evie James is a delightful holiday romance that captures the magic of the season with humor, heart, and a touch of self-discovery. The story follows Noelle Nichols, a woman grappling with personal and professional setbacks, who must return to her hometown before Christmas Eve to secure her inheritance. When a snowstorm derails her plans, she crosses paths with Kol Vinter, a rugged ex-military airline pilot. Despite their initial clash, Kol offers her a ride, sparking an unexpected journey filled with laughter, vulnerability, and a blossoming connection.
As Noelle and Kol navigate their road trip, they confront their own struggles and begin to see the possibility of hope and redemption in each other. The snowy setting and festive moments create a cozy backdrop for their story, blending the warmth of Christmas with the excitement of newfound love.
Evie James weaves a charming narrative that balances lighthearted banter with heartfelt emotions. Christmas Cancellation is perfect for anyone looking for a feel-good holiday romance about second chances, personal growth, and the magic of Christmas."
This is a NetGalley review. Thank you for the ARC opportunity and this is my honest review.
This was not for me. I felt the writing was juvenline and there were many flaws from my perspective.
The MMC seemed to be very immature and talks about how he has sisters and is respectful but I found him rude toward women. He orgasms and doesn't reciprocate after their first sexual encounter which is a complete turn-off when it comes to any romance. Especially in this context when the FMC seemed eager for sexual release as well. How the MMC was during the sexual encounters just felt awkward and seemed off brand for how he spoke in general.
The insta-love, forced proximity did not work for me. The characters weren't particularly likeable, the FMC seemed whiney and it was very repetitive.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Christmas Cancellation was a cute, fast paced, easy read of a story about our FMC traveling from Atlanta to Saratoga Springs two days before Christmas to settle her Aunt's estate. When her connecting flight is cancelled due to weather, she's stranded until the MMC, a pilot who was due to fly her connection, comes to her rescue and offers to drive her the rest of the way. This really feels like an insta-love story, as the entire book starts two days before Christmas and ends on New Years Eve of the same year. I would say it's a bit Hallmark-esque, with a touch of trauma in both MCs (albeit for different reasons), and a dash of spice.
This book was hilarious. I really enjoyed the characters and their personalities. I would definitely recommend this book!
Christmas Cancellation by Evie James is a delightful holiday romance that combines all the best tropes—forced proximity, opposites attract, and a snowed-in getaway—into a heartwarming and steamy read. Noelle Nichols is at her wit's end, jobless and desperate to make it home in time for a life-changing inheritance. Enter Kol Vinter, the grumpy ex-military pilot who’s the only one standing between her and the Christmas deadline. What begins as a stormy encounter at LaGuardia turns into a sizzling ride to her small hometown, where sparks fly both literally and figuratively.
I loved the chemistry between Noelle and Kol. Their banter is fiery, and their emotional arcs are surprisingly touching, especially as they both open up about their scars and pasts. The small-town holiday charm of Saratoga Springs and Kol’s protective nature really pulled me in, and I was rooting for these two from start to finish. And speaking of "start to finish"—this book has some seriously hot moments. 5/5 for spice! If you're in the mood for a fun, flirty, and festive romance, Christmas Cancellation is definitely worth picking up. The only thing keeping me from giving this a full 5 stars was a slight predictability in the plot, but it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment.
Perfect for fans of Christmas romances with a little extra heat!
I don't know if it was because it felt very rushed, but I didn't enjoy this romance as much as I should have, given the level of drama it incorporated.
Io non so se perché mi é sembrato tutto molto accelerato, ma non ho apprezzato questo romance quanto avrei dovuto, considerato il livello di dramma che incorporava.
I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.
The main character has a very confusing mind, constantly having mental breakdowns, but even with this problems, she turns out to be a very strong woman. As for Kol, he is a sweetheart and The man every woman would want in their lives. Typically i dont appreciate age gap trope in books, but this one changed my mind, not making age a major problem for the plot that was coming. It is REALLY spicy, so if you don't want spice, I advise you to search for other books. The last decision that Noelle took, as to what she was going to do with her future, really captivated me to know more. I've always wanted to do exactly the same thing she talks about. To sum it up, I wouldn't bother to have a second book that can tell us how it all turns out.
Christmas Cancellation by Evie James is a super-fast passed cute Christmas romance between Noelle, a recently unemployed sassy girl, and Kol, a pilot wine-lover. They both meet after her flight is cancelled and she needs to get to her hometown. Even though this book is insta-love, I believe that all the conversations between the characters had brought them much closer to knowing each other.
One point I do want to mention, which I thought was very well done throughout the book, is the amount of banter and friendly discussions between Noelle and Kol. All their interactions brought humor and character to the story, which sort of works with the slightly stronger or heavier moments of each other's personal stories.
Noelle, whom nothing ever goes right for and has a permanent little black cloud following her around, meets no nonsense Kol who has his own baggage. The banter between them is hilarious from the start and so is the nickname he gives her. When their flight is cancelled, Kol volunteers to drive her to her destination since it's on his way. They get to know each other during the trip and fall into an instant lust/love forced proximity during a blizzard type relationship. This book features some heavy topics which I wasn't expecting for a Christmas book. The language and the spice (think Fifty Shades) wasn't for me, but if you don't mind and/or like spicy you'll love this book.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
DNF at 17%. Found the characters to be over-the-top stereotypes, the dialogue stilted and really obvious. Good luck to the author but this one is not for me!
While seemingly a cute Christmas romance, a meet-cute at the airport, a road trip to upstate NY, a snowed-in trope during the holidays, but for me I had a lot of issues. First, just how mean they are to each other in the airport down to the spice and how she barely speaks or talks and is dominated (in a good way?). I can see how this book can work for some but it did not work for me.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
