Hot hot hot! I love a good medical romance, and Night Shift delivers. Atticus and Samantha both desperately need therapy, but until such a day comes as they get it, their relationship rests on Atticus' need to control everything around him and Samantha's need to refuse to trust a living soul. However, they come out of it on top (and bottom) with spicy scenes and a love story to make readers swoon.

One of my favorite subgenres is medical romance. It's very seldom seen in the catalog and I can't help but pull a Code Blue when one pops up. I'm clicking as fast as I can without breaking a phalange to get it on my kindle. I'm currently watching ER for the first time and I'm midway through the eighth season. I figured Night Shift would provide those same steamy hospital vibes and it unfortunately failed the Babinski test. I liked the different medical cases featured in the book, but it was the couple that gave me the most issue. They were no Luka and Abby nor Carol and Doug. They were more Carter and Abby: doomed from the start.

Night Shift was a difficult read, not only linguistically but visually as well. The copy I read was a white font on black background. It hurt my eyes and I had to take multiple breaks. There were only 10 pages on a normal typesetting while the rest were an optical nightmare. The other obstacle I faced was the hero's nickname for Samantha was Sammich based on the way she ate her lunch in the break room. He kept calling her that and I suppose it was meant to be endearing. It came off very awkward and strange. It was evident this was written by two people because the dialogue was jarring compared to the bedroom scenes. It seems like the authors switched off based on their "strengths". It was not a seamless transition and I noticed every switch off.

Although Night Shift may not have been my drug of choice, I'll take my medical romances where I can in this dreary landscape. I don't plan on revisiting this author duo in the future, especially if they don't change their writing format. I didn't quite get the ER vibes I was hoping for, but I will acknowledge that an attempt was made. Looks like I'll be sticking to mornings because I don't want anything to do with the Night Shift.

What a great read, what nurse doesn’t like a great medical romance with suspense and some serious doctor loving. The mafia aspect made it even more intriguing. Can’t wait for the next one!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you for allowing me to review

Description
Night Shift—a spicy medical romance with suspense.

Broody, senior ER doc Atticus Thorin is about to hit 40 and facing burnout. His reputation for being an icy authoritarian doesn’t faze the fiery young redhead who just started in his department. From the moment they smack into each other, he’s intrigued by her admonishment to mind his manners.

Not only does Samantha Sheridan’s sassy wit inflame the doctor’s temper, but it also ignites the flames of his desire.

Atticus has spent years crafting the unbreakable walls around his scarred heart. He’s built his life around control and emotional detachment, a fortress no one has ever breached.

When the one man who should have been Samantha’s protector trades her to mafia drug lords, it sparks the doctor’s deep-seated need to rescue those in danger and fires emotions he thought were long since buried.

Chased by the sins of her father, Samantha’s past demons come to steal her away in the night, leaving her with nowhere to turn except to the man who breaks her in ways she never thought possible.

Teetering on the edge between heartbreak and healing, will he be the one to catch her, or will he let her fall?

A sizzling, workplace, age-gap romance, Night Shift is the first in a new series of standalone romances featuring a trio of brothers who each must learn to tear down their walls and find out what it’s like when you allow yourself to break.

Oh My God this is amaaaaaazing, at first I was a little standosffish with the male main character cause of his past and all that but then as I got to know him and also got more interested in the story I realized how much I liked it and got to understand him more too. It’s also a spicy 🌶️ one so yeah i definitely recommend it!

(Gripping, Steamy, and Unforgettable!)

Night Shift by Evie James and Craig Richards is an addictive, sizzling workplace romance with a perfect balance of suspense, steam, and emotional depth. From the very first page, I was hooked!

Atticus Thorin, a brooding, burned-out ER doctor nearing 40, has built walls around his heart. Enter Samantha Sheridan, a fiery, quick-witted nurse who challenges him from the moment they meet. The chemistry between these two is undeniable, and the tension is off the charts. But when Samantha’s past comes back to haunt her, Atticus’s protective instincts are triggered, forcing him to confront his own demons. Samantha is a force to be reckoned with—strong, independent, and unafraid to call out Atticus on his icy demeanor.

The romance is a slow burn, but the emotional payoff is huge. Atticus’s transformation from a cold, emotionally detached doctor to a man willing to break down his walls for Samantha is both heartbreaking and beautiful. The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the steamy chemistry between Atticus and Samantha will leave you breathless.

With a grumpy/sunshine dynamic, an age-gap romance, and plenty of heart-pounding moments, Night Shift is a must-read for fans of dark, emotional, and suspenseful romances. I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait for more in this series!

I requested Night Shift on NetGalley because the blurb sounded really good. Unfortunately I didn’t like the book too much. In my opinion, the main characters were both annoying and childish; the side characters were much more loveable.
The story development wasn’t very good either and it’s unclear when the characters fell in love with each other.
The story wasn’t very logical either, so for me it was disappointing.

Grumpy, unavailable doctor comes head to head with independent, unavailable, much younger nurse, both with plenty of baggage and sizzling attraction they want to ignore. Secrets and miscommunication as they fight the heat, and even interference by the bratva. Lots of spice, and you may want to slap Sam, but a quick read.
