Family Ties on Beamer Street by Sheila Riley

I really enjoy reading the Beamer Street series , and was excited to see another great instalment in it .
This time were are concentrating on Peggy , her husband Dar & son Jack .
They have scrimped and saved & want to buy No.3 but disaster strikes when Dar has an industrial accident and has to be off work.
Peggy has to get a job in the docks to keep the family going and to carry on saving for their dream .
Great storyline & characters and I got taken along with this . The author has such a great way of drawing you into the plot as if you are there.

Dreaming of a better life.
Peggy Tennant and husband Dar have been saving what they can all their married life now it's 1926 in Liverpool they are going to the bank to become the proud owners of number three Beamer Street at long last.
Dar had a good job at Hutton Logistics as the best stevedores even during the big strike along with their son Jack they can't afford to lose two wages and Peggy couldn't care less what the neighbours think she grew up as a hungry child and her family are not ever going to be in that situation.
But then her dreams are shattered, Dar has a accident at work that will lay him up for months if ever a full recovery ahead from the hospital to a centre that has to be payed and takes all their savings away.
With four mouths to feed and rent to pay Peggy has no choice but to take on full time work at the docks cleaning and polishing the ships even takes on nightshifts that is hard graft. For better or worse in sickness and in health there's no stopping Peggy as she starts to save up again and getting the house put to rights for Dar to come home.
Family Ties is what it is, such an emotional read to pull at your heartstrings in every chapter, I loved following Peggy's journey a wife mum and a full time hard worker as this family all pull together in hard times.
Beautiful just beautiful.
