This book was very complex with alot of intersecting characters. I love the premise of a neighborhood being very pure, and good in the " daylight" and hiding secrets in the dark. I could see where the author wanted to intersect the characters and their lives to make it suspenseful and interesting. Sadly I don't think she achieved it 100 percent. At some points the story fell flat, and parts felt missing. The end felt unfinished and open for more.

The narrator was very robotic and made it hard to follow as well.

I don’t think this audiobook was for me. Not a lot happened until more than halfway through the book. It took all I had to try and push through the boring and mundane. I do understand that can be the appeal to this book, just normal people and their drama, but it wasn’t enough to keep me engaged.

The narrators of this book were great. I like how they had different narrators for the different people. It made the story telling a bit better.

All in all, not for me, but I can see how it would appeal to others.

I loved the narration here. They all did a fantastic job. I also love the weird kind of boring neighborhood business stuff, like Alison making Tea while dealing with her mother in law, a girl making bunting, and two men having a beer because a mother and daughter are fighting. I fight with my daughters all the time so I felt for those two.
It was not like full of mindblowing new reveals but it was a lovely and interesting book about people doing people things. Love that.

First, I've actually read / listened to this author, and I see that there are many, many more by him, which I would definitely look into reading more.

The structure and bones of this psychological thriller is exactly what I hoped it would be and more. I was immersed immediately and finished this one really quite quickly.

There are many characters in this book all living in Huntington Grove when we find we are met with a dualistic timeline of events one that is pre street party and one that is stated to be the future which is based around the events of that day. It was well done in that you don't get lost going between both scenarios and impeccably intertwined so you can see and feel into the plot of all the characters.

An easy 4 stars from me! The way this ended definitely leaves you pondering a little. Maybe there will be more, but also, maybe that is exactly the point!! Amazing work by Kerry Wilkinson, and this was also well narrated by all again bringing characters to life whilst all maintaining their own authenticity.

With thanks to Netgalley & Bookouture Audio for this ALC in return for an honest review. Wishing you the best of luck with this publication, Kerry!

Oh My Goodness, I absolutely loved this book! It's written in the usual two timeline style but rather than past and present, it's present and future.

This is such a simple switch in perspective but makes this an extraordinary read, as rather than knowing what has happened and finding out why, you find out what the secrets are and wonder who has acted on them.

A fabulous read (listen for me) which is definitely one to share.

Wow. This was one heck of a ride. Nothing is what it seems in this neighborhood. You just never know what is going on Nextdoor. Great storyline with plenty to keep you interested. A lot of characters, so it can be hard to follow at times but it fits in. Great narrators

Man this really is a you never know what your neighbors are up to book for sure. It weaves multiple families and past and present and does it in a way that is seamless. A book that keeps you guessing all the way through out and then the ending definitely gives you some closure. The cast of characters seemed very likable and written in a way you can understand their motivations. Very quick read that keeps you reaching for the next page.

So many characters and so much drama’! Heidi and Freddie move to a new neighborhood but there is some sort of connection between some of these people. Heidi can’t figure out what is going on with her husband. Meanwhile, willow also cannot figure out what is going on with her husband. Everyone has secrets. Dylan can’t let go of his wife dying, but it is that connected to any of the other people? There is def a lot here and I’m not sure I caught all that was going on, but I did enjoy it!

Unfortunately, this author favors ‘telling’ over ‘showing’ and so it made for quite a dull read. Literally nothing—not a single thing—happened until about 46% in. Sadly, not much else happened, this is just hours and hours of he-said-she-said gossip and speculation and inner ramblings.

Extremely dull.

🎧 Audio:
The audio is decent—the narrator has a smooth enough voice, though she does opt to robotically dictate, rather than perform the book. Overall sound quality is perfect.

4.5 rounded up. Wilkinson nails the gossipy, tension-packed vibe you go to a domestic thriller for in this tale about a neighborhood full of drama!

Premise - Huntington Grove seems like a nice neighborhood, but everyone is hiding something. Heidi is snooping because she doesn’t trust her husband, Freddie, who has taken to locking the door of his home office. Willow’s marriage is falling apart and her relationship with her teenage daughter isn’t far behind. Dylan might have murdered his wife. And someone at the summer block party has a gun…

Wilkinson has such an addictive voice! I could not tear myself away from this one. The characters were complex and the mysteries built upon each other, tension ticking up-up-up until the explosion at the block party to end all block parties. So! Good!

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by
Matthew Spencer, Rebecca Lee, and Julia Barrie. They are all so talented and did a great job! It was a highly engaging read and I definitely recommend enjoying the story in this format.

Thanks, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio, for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
