Wonderful as always! The author has done it again! LOVE, love love this series and this book was just absolutely amazing. So tense and original, the premise has you gasping and the twists keep you glued to your seat, while breathlessly turning the pages. Just wow! This series gets better and better - cannot wait for the next!
This was another edge of your seat instalment for the Kim Stone series.
It featured a fresh new take on a crime which I found exhilarating, it had lots of interesting facts and information that I’ve never even heard of before but I loved reading and learning about it all.
It featured more about each member of Kim’s team’s personal life outside of work which I enjoyed immensely.
This book is number 21 and it’s still as exciting as the first book in the series, Kim and her team never fail to keep me entertained as I follow them hunting down the perpetrator.
This was a fast pace suspense novel that followed Detective Kim Stone and her team as they tried to follow clues so no one gets hurt all under a tight deadline. It was quite a twisty story since the clues were cryptic so I was not able to guess before hand. The POV’s jump around but there is no confusion whose POV it is. I have not read any previous books but I did not feel I missed anything. A great read!
36 Hours is one of those books that makes you stay awake to read it as it grabs your attention from the beginning. It's fast-paced and the story puts a lot of pressure on Kim and her team to find the culprit, as they'll have 36 hours to catch the killer and solve the puzzle as clues are released one after another involving the police, the midia, and on-line puzzle gamers. If the killer's instructions are not followed the person under their control will suffer or even die. Really engaging and entertaining!
I thank Ms. Marsons, her publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.
Wow oh wow..another amazing book from Angela...couldn't put it down...loved tye story and the characters...kept me on the edge
Oh how I love rejoining the team for this series!
What I’ve loved about this instalment is the “cat and mouse” feel it had to it and the intensity of Kim and her team being up against the clock throughout the case.
I also really liked how it started and ended with a chapter dedicated to each team member at the start of the case, and at the end….great touch!
And I have to comment on the dynamic between Kim and Frost….. their “relationship” has me absolutely gripped to the page …. And that very last page…..WOW!! Just brilliant!!
DI Kim Stone is back in a race against time. But is it all an elaborate hoax or is there really a twisted killer nicknamed the 'Jester' on the loose?
Well Kim and her team aren't taking any chances even if that means defying orders.
I know that's not like Kim at all!
But to find out the truth Kim has to bring in journalist and sometimes foe Tracy Frost into the investigation. As Tracy is the one who was originally contacted and who must publish articles at certain intervals in order to keep the 'Jester' happy.
Meanwhile, Kim and Bryant are racing around the West Midlands following riddles and looking for evidence. Much to Kim's frustration. As she would rather be interviewing suspects and to make matters worse, this is all happening on her day off. Which means the rest of the team are supposed to be off too and some won't let her forget it.
So, Kim decides enough is enough and she turns the tables on the Jester. Which leads her to their victim but sadly they are too late.
But Kim is not giving up and is more determined than ever to catch this killer. However, before the team can start their investigation again another person is taken and this time the consequences are even more dire.
And with the countdown set, Kim and the team are going to need all the skills they possess if they are to catch the jester and put them behind bars where they belong.
And with twists and turns. Not to mention humour and edge of your seat moments. This is truly Kim Stone at her frustrated finest, and I would happily recommend to all.
Another great instalment in this series featuring Kim Stone and her team plus Jo Frost the journalist. 36 hours to solve these murders make it fast paced
Today it is my privilege to share my thoughts on 36 hours published by @Bookouture. Thank you for my spot on thy tour, your patience, and the advance reader copy from @NetGalley in exchange for you honest review.
I have loved this series of books since reading Silent Scream nine years ago. I have been waiting for 36 Hours since I finished reading book 20 Guilty Mothers. I know if you read my older reviews of Angels Marsons’ books you’ll see I find each book to be the best yet, and this is no different. This series of thrillers is among my favourite of all time. I have also listened to the Audiobook brilliantly narrated by Jan Cramer, who always brings the characters to life and helps the story maintain it's natural flow.
The return of character, and thorn in Kim’s side, Tracey Frost, set the story off to a great start. The mashed Frost shows Kim says she has 36 hours to solve a pickle to prevent a death. Frost and Stone bounce off each other brilliantly and I always look forward to their interactions. The team is as likeable and credible as ever. Stone and Bryant out on the ground while Stacey and Penn do the research from the office. Each characters now feels like a friend .
This is a fast paced thriller which kept me hooked until I turned the last page, or at least swiped the last page of my Kindle. I am happy to recommend 36 Hours to anyone, especially readers of crime thrillers and police procedurals. While this is a great standalone novel, I highly recommend you read the series, if only to better appreciate character development, context, and backstory. I gave 36 Hours, by Angela Marsons, five stars.
The latest Angela Marsons novel, 36 Hours, doesn't disappoint. It centres around a perpetrator who likes to play games and gain notoriety. Reporter Tracey Frost receives an email that warns her there will be consequences if she doesn't write a story about him and print his cryptic clues. When she shows this email to DCI Kim Stone, initially she's very sceptical until the Jester sends proof of his "serious consequences ". After this, it's a race against time to solve his clues before he strikes again. This book features a sport/hobby called geocaching. It's not something I was at all familiar with so I found that particularly interesting. Another hit! Thank you to Netgalley for my advance copy.
I'm addicted to any type of puzzle, from treasure hunts to cryptic crosswords so when I saw that this case involved clues to crimes that have been committed my expectations were sky high. I wasn't disappointed. With Kim and her entire time working around the clock, and against the clock,to take down a mastermind unlike any they have ever faced the tension practically crackled off the pages of this book. It's 5 star all the way, just what I have come to expect from Angela Marsons.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for '36 Hours' by Angela Marsons.
OMG!!! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO US ANGELA!!!! JUST WOW!!!! Seriously love, love LOVED this book!!!! Although, shouldn't be so shocked, it is Angela Marsons and Kim Stone after all!!!! Anyway, on with the review shall I....
Angela's style of writing is absolutely fantastic. She has a way in which she completely absorbs the reader into the book with vivid and graphic descriptions that have you completely lost in the plot. It is the type of book that when you finish you look around and wonder where you are and how is nobody else reacting to the bombshell that has just been dropped!!! One of the most heart racing, nail biting, actually stopped breathing book I've EVER read!!!! I mean how on earth do you do it Angela??? Every single book is more heart racing than the next and this has absolutely smashed it!!! This epic series is the best I have ever read. I mean nobody can beat Kim and the team!!
Angela kicks it out of the ballpark each and every single time!!! How can someone write so many epic, addictive and gritty books yet come up with unique storylines that shock the reader constantly!!! Angela is the absolute queen of crime and if you have never read any of her books then what on earth are you waiting for!!! You are seriously missing out!! The storyline is an absolute rollercoaster ride through a multi layered adventure park set in the world of horror, supernatural, medium and crime!!! There's never just one case with Angela but so much going on, not too much to get you confused but just the perfect amount to keep the pace continuous. The majority of chapters end on cliff-hanger so keeps reader addicted and turning pages. Although this book is the 21st book in the epic Kim Stone series it can easily be read as a standalone. I am not a fan of books in a series being read out of order but if you do there is a silver lining of doing this and that is while you are waiting for the next book in this series to be released you can go back and read the previous books while you are waiting. I can guarantee that if you have never read any books by this absolutely crime queen then I promise that you are about to discover your new favourite author!!. The murders and crimes are unique and morbidly intriguing. I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nails whilst feeling my heart pounding into the silly hours of the morning as this is one book that cannot be put down so clear your diaries before picking it up. It fills you with all emotions from fear to laughter, tension to shock. You would think there would be only so many ways to kill someone but Angela brings new ways to kill her characters of each and every time. If Angela ever decides to go rogue then lock your doors and hide as she has absolutely everything covered!!! The evocative descriptions and Angela's amazing writing skills will have you trying to hunt out the killer/s and the truth with Kim and Bryant while your heart is pounding throughout. My heart was in my throat the whole way through from the epilogue to the very last sentence. I just could not believe what I was reading. As always the last chapter had me absolutely gobsmacked and I absolutely LOVED IT!!! Well done Angela, I'm getting harder and harder to shock but you had me hook, line and sinker!!!! I seriously NEED to see these amazing books on the big screen!! I was absolutely LANDED to discover that these amazing books are actually going to be made into a series and I really cannot wait to see them and to read the next addition in my favourite series with my favourite characters ever!!! The fact that Angela always researches her topics and police procedurals absolutely shines through these books and I want to say a HUGE WELL DONE for that.
Why are you still reading this? Don't bother!!! The book is much better than any of my words can describe so cancel your plans, put the kettle on and get stuck in to this absolutely page turning must read now!!!
Although this is the twenty first book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it without any of the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.
These characters have become like very close friends to me and each time I meet them it feels like I haven't been far from them for long. Kim and her fierce attitude, Bryant who is the angel (at times) on Kim's shoulders who (sometimes) manages to calm her down and make her see sense, the strange relationship with Tracy Frost and so much more. . It isn't all crime and sadness in Angela's books though and it had me giggling on several occasions which is brilliant considering it's a crime novel. Kim's attitude really does make me smile and laugh out loud. Tracy plays quite a big part in this book although I won't say any more than the fact that I enjoyed seeing the tilt in the Stone/Frost rollercoaster relationship they have. My heart broke for a certain character that we have seen over this series and I was hoping it wouldn't end the way it did for them but again I won't say more than that. Angela creates fantastic team dynamics with memorable characters who work together brilliantly and perfectly. Each character is unique and has strong personalities and they just are completely unforgettable. I absolutely adore the pathologist Keats and how the sarcasm between him and the team and his attitude. Stacey and Penn are also strong team members and I love how they work so well together and yet wind each other up constantly. Angela has brought these characters to life over this series and I have yet to meet a team and group of people I like so much. I genuinely miss them between books.
A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS ANGELA MARSONS!!! As always you have done the research and you have created what I can guarantee will be one of the best read books ever!! I hope your busy writing cause I cannot wait to get my hands on your next success!!! Seriously what are you waiting for guys??? Stop reading this and get your copy now!!!! This is exactly why you and this series are my favourite author and series!!! You are absolutely amazing and I hope you are busy on your next success because I'm missing the gang already!!!
Overall an absolutely amazing psychological thriller of epic proportions that will keep your heart pounding all night. This is one of the best books I have ever read!!!! An absolute MUST READ!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Certainly up to Angela Marsons usual standard. Well worthy of 5 stars. It was exciting with lots of twists and turns.
really good Kim Stone novel. Kim and the team bust it to find a killer..some unexpected things happen
Detective Kim Stone had been roused from sleep by reporter Tracy Frost, and her initial annoyance turned to alarm. Alerting her team, they all headed to work - the sun not yet up. 36 hours wasn't long, but they were going to beat the deadline, otherwise someone would die. Puzzles and challenges; they went together. But this one wasn't a hoax, this one wasn't for fun.
As the time moved forward, quickly, the clues were solved, but still they were confronted by horror. The tapes of screams caused rage in Kim's heart, but as more followed, the evil in the person's heart kept Kim and her team going. Working non stop with few breaks and little food, they knew they had to up their game as now a small child's life was in the balance as well. Would they find the victim in time? And would they find the perpetrator before the endgame?
36 Hours is the 21st in the DI Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons and it was excellent. Gritty, intense, heated and emotional, Kim went all out to do her job, going against her superiors, and doing what she did best. Bryant, Stacey, Penn and Kim worked their butts off for the result, even with Woody breathing down their necks. I'm loving this series and hope it continues on for a long time to come. Highly recommended.
With thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

what a read... this author certainly knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat
36 Hours is the 21st Book in the DI Kim Stone series and yet again it’s another absolute corker of a read. As soon as I’d finished reading the first chapter, I just knew this was going to be a read full of suspense and intrigue. Well it most certainly was that and a lot more as well. The style of this book is slightly different to the previous ones as Kim and her team are given cryptic clues to solve, they have 36 hours to solve these clues . If they fail then someone dies. As I was so hooked on this book and couldn’t put it down I finished it in one sitting. Another gripping and tense read in this fantastic series.
Angela Marsons Kim Stone series is one of the best crime fiction series out there, and I love how Angela Marsons always manages to keep it fresh, as she explores new ideas, and deepens her characters. The latest book in the series, 36 Hours is an intense read, and things certainly aren’t easy for Kim and her team. They know they are facing something very different to what they have faced before and this is what makes this book so chilling.
This book sees Kim pair up with journalist, Tracy Frost. They are facing an unpredictable killer, who leaves Kim and Tracy a specific set of clues to find, and sets a number of rules they must follow. If they don’t exactly what the killer says, people will die. Kim and Tracy have to put aside their differences and work together to find the culprit before it’s too late. It certainly doesn’t take long for things to start taking their toll on Kim and Tracy.
I was fascinated to see how Kim and Tracy would work together on this case. They’ve been at each other’s throats in the past, so I did wonder just how things would proceed, and how mad Tracy would drive Kim. It really did make for such fascinating and entertaining reading, and tensions really do boil under the surfaces as they try to follow the killer’s clues together. You can really begin to see the effect this is having on Tracy. I thought, the way in which the killer is going about their crime, was a really original idea and Angela Marsons pulled it off spectacularly. It’s what makes this book so gripping and so fast-paced.
You can always guarantee that whenever you pick up a Kim Stone novel, you will be hooked right from the first page; I certainly was with 36 Hours. I was desperate to work out what was really going on, and what was driving the killer to kill, and play with the police in this way, and what an ending. It really felt like I was holding my breath as I raced through the final pages. 36 Hours is one of my favourite books in the series to date, and, once again, I’ll be waiting with baited breath for the next novel to be released.
36 Hours by Angela Marsons is the 21st in the Detective Kim Stone Police Procedural series.
First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Series Background: (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
DI Kim Stone learned to be tough. Her mother, who died of cancer, was being held in a home for the criminally insane due to actions that almost killed Kim, and resulted in her brother's death. Kim had little to do with her. Although Kim's social skills are lacking, her heart is in the right place, and her detective skills outstanding. Her team consists of: Bryant, her right hand man and friend, and the person who voices concerns in a much more diplomatic way than Kim ever would; Stacey, who can find required information in a seemingly bottomless computer system; and Austen Penn, who for some reason, enjoys attending autopsies. Her Boss is Woody.
My Synopsis: (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Early Sunday morning, Journalist Tracy Frost shows up at Kim's door with a sheet of paper clutched in her hand. It says that unless they follow the instructions that will come, people will die. They have to play the game. They have 36 hours.
Although Woody doesn't sanction the investigation, Kim plunges in. The team must solve each puzzle to find the next clue. While Kim and Bryant race all over, they soon find more obstacles than they thought possible at every turn. It is not long before they realize that the person behind this game is deadly serious. It feels like they are being set up for failure. The first victim dies.
When a pediatric surgeon is kidnapped, the team, on little sleep, have to work fast. If they don't find the surgeon soon, her patient, an eight-year old little girl, will die.
Tracy Fox has tried to stay silent, and play by the madman's rules, but she is fed up! Soon it will be Tracy fighting for her life.
My Opinions:
Absolutely thrilled when this book appeared. I have no idea how Marsons continues to keep these books fresh and interesting, but they continue to be captivating. I highly recommend the series.
I love the characters. I love how we always find out a little more about what is going on in their personal lives as well as their involvement in the current case. Their individual skills shine through. I love the fractious relationship between Kim and Tracy. This book really looked into family dynamics, both within the team, and in the suspects lives.
The plot was appealing. I love a good puzzle, and it was interesting to see how they solved each clue. There were plenty of suspects to go around, so I wasn't really sure who the actual perpetrator was. That was great!
Anyway, I can't recommend this series highly enough!
36 Hours by Angela Marsons is another thrilling addition to the Detective Kim Stone series, and even as the 21st book, it works well as a standalone. The story starts with journalist Tracy Frost waking Kim with a chilling note threatening lives unless clues are solved within 36 hours. What begins as a potential hoax quickly escalates into a deadly game.
The fast-paced plot, driven by ticking clocks and relentless tension, keeps you hooked. Marsons skillfully balances the darker themes with moments of humanity, making the characters relatable and compelling. The twists and turns, including the identity of the killer, are expertly woven, and even if you guess parts of the mystery, the journey remains gripping.
Jan Cramer’s narration is stellar, adding depth and atmosphere to the story. This dark, emotional, and twisty thriller is a must-read for crime fans, leaving you eager to see what’s next for DI Kim Stone.
very grateful to the publisher for my alc, opinions are my own
