A great book that combines practical and beautiful ideas with simplish, detailed instructions. I was initially confused by the title because I didn't know what "RV Reno" was, thinking it referred to the town in Nevada and not a buzzword for "renovation" but the clear, well-taken photos and instructions helped me out.
I especially appreciated the index and the "What to look for when buying a vintage trailer". It also had a section on "Finding your style" that was very helpful. The book seemed pretty comprehensive to me--how to look for damage, installing major systems (solar, electrical, water, propane), painting (inside and out), flooring, kitchens, bathrooms (including showers)--but I'm sure I'll need more help once I start. She also included additional information on where to find additional information and videos (many videos on her website).
I'll be recommending this book to my local library as well as buying a hard copy.
A very useful (and enjoyable!) book for anyone who is interested in getting into RVing - especially if they are newbies to the hobby and/or plan to purchase a used rig. Not only are there pretty before and after pictures, but there are detailed instructions on inspecting, repairing and renovating your new baby from end-to-end.
Renovating or converting a van is my dream! I have owned a couple of RVs and have rented too, but the perfect layout, design and spec is elusive!
This book is the answer - it's not just about the aesthetic, it explains everything. The writing is clear with pictures to aid the instructions and processes, top tips and hints of what not what to do, based on the author's experience of having made mistakes when renovating their own vehicles.
5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Janelle Payne and Quarto for an ARC in return for an honest review.
I just purchased my first camper and I’ve been overwhelmed with ideas. I think this is great with giving ideas on how to turn your space into one of your own!
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read and review this book. I did just skim over it as I am not currently fitting out a van but I have been a van owner for 7 years now and know a thing or two about it as my vans are not state of the art!
I think for a total novice who wants to get into renovating a van from scratch this book is really handy with step by step on flooring, electrics, plumbing and more. There are pages filled with images (good imagery) but I don’t know how practical it would be to take this book out when you are putting everything into practice .
I think for inspiration and an idea of what goes into van life this is a good read. 3.5 for me.
