Rose and the other Compass Points are trying to formulate a plan to retrieve Luc from beyond the Veil. The problem is, they don't know much about the realm or the mysterious Lady of the Veil that protects it. They must use their new-found relationships and trust to bring Luc home and bring order to the continent.
This should have been a duology. There was not enough happening in Books 2 and 3 to justify this being a triology. I was bored out of my mind for both of the books.
Rating: 5/5
I received an eARC for my honest opinion.
This is the third and final book of The Compass Points, I am so sad that Rose and Luc’s story has come to an end. Witt did an amazing job with their conclusion to the story, I loved that she had all the Compass points come together to save the realm and finally defeat a tyrant god, but with Luc stuck beyond the veil, the only way that Rose can save him is with the help of Carter in his Veil Cat form. The road to success is not going to be easy at all, they will have to battle for their lives, find a way to get rid of a god and save their realm. Can these new Compass Points change the world that they live in for the better or will they fail?
I loved getting to read The Compass Points and I am so thankful that Witt asked me to review the first book because this trilogy will hold a special place in my heart. I won’t go into many details about the plot because let me tell you, if you’re worried about finishing up this series and having it being let down, don’t be! You will love the conclusion of this series; the ending was fantastic, and you will see that there is another book coming out about Carter and Cassandra. Who is Cassandra, you ask? Well, you will need to read this book, and you will be so excited like the rest of the fans of this book. In this book you will find action, drama, elemental magic, found family, bonded fae, jerk gods and goddess/awesome gods and goddess and so much more. I loved that in this book you will see the plot but the characters really still the story away. I loved getting to see the characters' growth in this book and to see the struggles that they have had to dig their way out of and to shine. I loved that you would see that everyone in the book, well other than that jerk God (lol) come together to build a better realm for their people. To let all humans and fae know that it’s okay to love whomever they want and having mixed bloodlines doesn’t matter at all. However, it was the characters’ communication skills that really blew this book away and you will see the growth in the characters because of this that really got me. Seeing the characters finally stepping out of their skin and opening up, talking about their needs and wants without having the fear of something happening. I love that you can see that everyone really does care, and they care about each other’s feelings. I loved seeing how Luc and Rose connected even when they were not in the same realm and learning to understand their bond and seeing how Rose accepted this. I found that their relationship was so much stronger than anyone would have believed, and seeing the ending of their story was so beautiful. They finally get their HEA, and they deserve it so much.
The other side characters just add to the book’s wonderful story, but you will see throughout the book that there is a connection between the Compass Point Carter and the Goddess of the Viel, and when you get to the ending to see that we will be getting another book from Witt and its about those two characters, I did a happy dance. You will be able to dive into a world that is so beautiful and be able to close your eyes and picture it due to Witts’s attention to details, her writing style and the beautiful characters that she writes.
If you’re in the mood to read a fantasy book with action, romance, elemental magic, beautiful writing, fast-paced and that will leave you warm and fuzzy you need to read this book.
I want to thank NetGalley and Jillian Witt for the opportunity to review this book.
I really liked this book! It was sort of a conclusion . . . but sort of not. I thought it was a good wrap up to Rose and Luc's journey to reset the balance of power and a great development of their relationship. It did, though, set it up for a follow up with Carter?? I thought this one was on par for the first in terms of humor, story line, and characters. I really liked the addition of a new realm, seeing more of the other Gods, and the world building of past/present stories intersecting. I think some things could have been further developed or explained a bit more (Darren, Compass Point "testing") but overall, really enjoyed this story.
The final book in the Compass Points Trilogy by Jillian Witt, Bound Paths, was released today. You’re not going to want to miss it! This book was about the efforts of Luc, Rose, the rest of the Compass Points, and the gods to finally defeat the Mist Plague, the God Attera, bring balance to the Continent, and rescue Luc from beyond the Veil. I loved this final volume and the way the author skillfully ties up all the loose ends. She effectively resolves all the remaining issues related to Rose and Luc’s story and the quest that the Compass Points had undertaken. I loved that they had to delve into a five centuries old mystery to be successful. I loved the direction that Rose and Luc’s story took and the continued development of relationships between the characters. I adored that the changes that Rose was bringing to the table would create a much more inclusive society. I really liked that a door has been left open for future books in this world. I would very much love to read the story about Carter and Cassandra which the author made reference to in her author’s remarks. This was a great trilogy and I highly recommend it to readers who enjoy cozy romantasy. The entire series is available in Kindle Unlimited.
I would like to thank Jillian Witt and Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I feel a slump coming on, what an enjoyable trilogy and perfect ending to the beautiful love story that is Rose and Luc. The backstory about the gods and their decisions and reasons for making the decisions they made were revealed throughout, which was perfection. This cozy, magical, world was written so that the landscape was visible, you were completely pulled into the story and I loved that for us! I am so sad to leave this world, though how it ended gives me hope for another installment. Maybe a novella...maybe?
I am leaving this honest review voluntarily by the grace of NetGalley, ARC provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, and Jillian Whitt. Thank you so much for the ARC of this magical book!
I loved the first two books in this series and have been anxiously awaiting the Bound Paths to see how Rose and Luc’s story wraps up. To start, I think Witt did well in how she completed their character arc. There was a lot that still had to be wrapped up and aligned before the story could conclude and Witt pulled it off. I loved the continued character development. We also got to enjoy more of the sassy side characters which we’ve come to know and love from previous installments. Whether by design or not, I found myself most interested in The Lady of the Veil and Carter (bring on the spin off please). The Lady of the Veil’s backstory was as fascinating as it was heartbreaking. I did find the pacing to be a little off for my tastes which made the story feel longer than it was. That aside, I really enjoyed this and found it to be a fitting conclusion. I’m excited to see what Witt comes up with next in her writing career.
3.5/5
This was a much better read than the second in the trilogy! I loved the Lady of the Veil's story. I was so invested in her storyline, and it really drove me forward in reading this novel. Carter also became a very fascinating character, as well as the veil cats. I found myself wanting to know more about this new world.
The "bound faes" plot quickly grew tired, and Rose and Luc became an old couple very quickly. I wish there was more development or something that made me want to root for them instead of them just being perfect. Sure, maybe communication was great and it just seems "adult", but they're boring. I would rather see some complexities without toxicity.
As far as it goes, what lingers most in my head is the Lady of the Veil story, where the Rose and Luc line feels like the subplot, which I'm sure was not the intention.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy.
I wrote this in my review for the second book - I had to put this series down since the second book didnt wrap me up in the way I thought it would. I think I could just be in a reading slump. I will definitely be retrying this series when I seem more out of my reading slump. I am rating this book a 3 since im forced to rate- I dont typically rate books that I have to DNF as its unfair to give a low rating because of something on my end.
Thank you so much for the arc copy of this book!
I liked the first book, but I loved this second. It really does clear up a lot of things for the reader since the first one was so vague. I like the continuing evolution of the characters in this book as well. Great job!
The final installment of Rose and Luc's story was a bit of a letdown. After struggling with book 1, book 2 got my hopes up, but then book 3 didn't quite deliver. However, you might enjoy this series if you like fated mates, gods, magic, fae, and sacrifice.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this book!!
I LOVED this book! It was a bit slow in the beginning but then boom I was hooked!! I finished it in one sitting! My first by this author but will not be my last!!
Great finale to a series. Picks up right where the previous book, Tangled Power, ended.
I I enjoyed the flashbacks and dual timeline, and in my opinion, both brought depth to the story and helped to better understand what was going on.
I’ve enjoyed how the characters have grown throughout the series and how they’ve been able to overcome their differences to work together.
Overall, a great conclusion to Rose and Luc’s story.
Favorite quotes:
“It had to be done, but I’ll spend the rest of our existence making it up to you.”
“Oh, do you not want another magic to be able to save us? You want to be the hero?”
“Sometimes the symbol of power is enough.”
“You’re not losing me. You’ll never be able to be rid of me.”
“Would you believe me if I told you this was the best possible outcome?”

Bound Paths is so so good! What an ending! Loved every single second of it. I totally recommend everyone to read this book as fast as they can because it's really good and the characters are fantastic.
The series is over! This was such a fun trilogy to read. Between the magic systems and the growth of the characters, this was such a beautiful story that I had the pleasure to read. Definitely recommend.
Thank you Netgalley, publisher, and author for the ARC.
This was another winner in this series, it had that feel that I was looking for and enjoyed the concept and enjoyed the overall story going on. It continued the story perfectly and enjoyed from the previous two books. Jillian Witt has a strong writing style and can’t wait for more.
I received an advance reader's copy of Bound Paths (Compass Points #3) by Jillian Witt from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I’m always excited to read a new-to-me author and Jillian Witt did not disappoint. Overall, I quite enjoyed the book and the morning flew by while I read. There was action, intrigue, and chemistry. The characters were fairly well-crafted, the pace of the novel was mostly steady, and there were some surprises. Definitely worth reading the entire series if future books are this well crafted.
I’m really sad this series is over.
I don’t know how to explain it other than this book felt like a book by an adult, written by adults.
No miscommunication, no are we/aren’t we together, no petty games or third act break up.
Even the friendships despite starting more as enemies that work together, were still respectful.
I hope she does a connected series following other characters
