This was a psychological rollercoaster. It starts off pretty slow and takes time building up the characters. I thought I had a good take on what was actually going on. Then out of no where the last 1/3 of the book gets crazy. So many insane twists and turns. I loved how unique this book and the twists were. I’m a sucker for a wild ending. The slow lead up wasn’t bad but it’s not my favorite. I would have liked more character development on Theo but otherwise I enjoyed the ending. 3.5 stars

Set outside Cincinnati, Sabrina is a struggling young woman. She’s a class or two short of being a librarian and works in a low-end bookstore. She ends up being hired as a private librarian to organize and catalog the library of a wealthy family. Not only does it provide a hefty salary, but room and board. The only problem is the house and residents seem to have more than a few issues. Lots of twists and turns in this thriller. Great read. #netgalley

The Family Lies by Angel Henry hooked me right away. Sabrina Adams’ new job restoring the Dorsey family’s private library seemed perfect, but things quickly felt off. Locked rooms, Mrs. Manning’s endless rules, and the police investigating a missing woman made the suspense build fast.
There were multiple twists towards the end that kept me on edge, but the final twist in the epilogue had me shook. I didn’t see it coming at all. The writing kept me engaged, and while it slowed down a bit here and there, it was worth it for that ending.
If you love stories about family secrets and jaw-dropping twists, this one’s for you.

What a wild ride! Now that's how you write a thriller!
This was my first book by Angela Henry, and I'm eager to read more. There is nothing more satisfying than snuggling into my bed at night and putting on my imaginary detective hat. This book kept me turning pages all hours of the night and morning :)
While there were several characters, it was easy enough to connect the dots while reading. It was written so well that you were constantly trying to figure out just who was causing all of the chaos surrounding the Dorsey family.
What I loved most was how there were so many angles to the story, with a web of characters and motives that all tied back to their unique (and often shady) backstories. Every time I thought I had a handle on what was happening, a new revelation threw me off course—just the way I like it.
The main character, Sabrina, is a librarian, and she is hired by a wealthy, enigmatic family member to manage their private library collection. That premise alone hooked me as a fellow book nerd. But Sabrina wasn’t your typical innocent heroine. She had a murky past, and the author did a brilliant job of balancing her flaws with her determination. It left me constantly wondering: Can I trust her? Should I be rooting for her? (Spoiler alert: I totally rooted for her, even if I didn’t fully trust her.) That dynamic made her so compelling.
And then there were all the juicy elements of mystery! A secret room tucked away in the mansion (how could you not love that?!), a maid who was definitely hiding something, and a rebellious teenager whose motives I could never quite pin down. Every character added a layer of intrigue, and it was like piecing together a massive puzzle where the picture only came together in the final moments.
If you’re someone who loves solving crimes, piecing together clues, or just the thrill of a classic “Scooby Doo” kind of mystery with all the loose ends tied up at the end, you’ll love this book. It was clever, unpredictable, and full of the kind of tension that made me second-guess everyone’s intentions—including Sabrina’s. Highly recommend!
Thank you, #NetGalley, Angela Henry, and Storm Publishing, for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

abrina Adams has been let go from the Harper’s Ferry library due to budget cuts. Now, she is forced to live with her sister and disgusting brother-in-law while she searches for another job. She’s been working part-time at a bookstore and Theo Dorsey, is a frequent customer. His family is quite wealthy and they live in a large mansion. Theo approaches her saying that his family has a large private library and they need someone to catalog the numerous items. The job would mean she would live in and it would last for about two years. She is thrilled and accepts.
When she arrives at the home, she is told by the housekeeper, Mrs. Manning, that there are rules that she must follow which sound strict but she agrees. There seems to be some strange things that occur which makes Sabrina leery, but she is still anxious to put the library to rights.
But more things happen and some people think Theo may be guilty of something sinister. Sabrina doesn’t know what to believe.
This is quite twisty and the ending is over the top. I sat for some time after finishing the book thinking that this author has to have the most incredible imagination to come up with this story. So, it is truly a book that I will remember for a long time. Enjoy!

I don't think I've ever read a book with this many lies! I ate it up!
I love Angela Henry. I find her work to be very gripping, her ideas and writing are always well-crafted, and she adds enough suspense and twists to keep us on the edge of our seat without being overwhelming. Henry gave us outstanding page-turners with her last two novels, 'The Perfect Affair' and 'Her Pretty Lies', so I knew this next one, 'The Family Lies' would not disappoint.
After struggling for so long to find a job in her desired field, Sabrina Adams is finally offered a job as a private librarian by rich, handsome Theo Dorsey. This job comes with everything she could have imagined - a hefty salary, room and board at a wealthy estate, a 2-year contract, and, not to mention, eye candy. This seems like the perfect job, however, something isn't right at that estate. Sabrina is immediately given a list of rules that she must abide by, many of them being absurd. Then she learns that not only has a woman disappeared on a road near the estate, but that Theo is a suspect. This is not the worst of it, though. Sabrina then finds out that Theo is linked to another woman's disappearance some years prior. Things quickly get heated and intense as Sabrina battles with whether or not she should stay in that house, along with keeping her own secrets hidden.
This book is so good! It's suspenseful, it's intense, and just when we find out one secret, we are presented with more odd facts and information that leaves us questioning, "Who are these people?!" This book is definitely a page-turner, and Mrs. Henry did not disappoint!
Thank you NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and Angela Henry for this read!

Thank you to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and Angela Henry for this arc!
You know those books where you are SURE you know where it’s going … so yawn? This was that book for me UNTIL it sooooo wasn’t!
As I was flipping along, making all the mental notes and feeling rather smug with my super sleuthing skills … the author went and twisted me so hard I think my brain is now a pretzel!
The vibes in this story are perfectly creepy and each person is just suss enough you just don’t know who to believe … thus the word LIES in the title! Duh!
A solid thriller that left me very satisfied with the ride!
This is my second Angela Henry book (The Perfect Affair was my first, also a great read!) and I will for sure be checking out more from her in the future!

The Family Lies is a suspenseful psychological thriller from the start. It is multi-viewpoint, and all the narrators are unreliable. Lies, internal and external to the various family units, form the mainstay of the story. The Dorsey family is infamous, and there are many rumours about them. The reader discovers a web of lies within the family as the story develops. It is a well-paced narrative with complex, flawed characters and gradual twists that make you realise you don't know as much as you thought.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author. I wasn’t overly keen with the slow start and kept thinking when will this pick up. I’m so glad it picked up, wow what twist I didn’t see coming. The final chapters kept me hooked. I’ll be reading more from Angela.

Have you ever simply been gobsmacked by the ending of a book- you literally have to pick your jaw off the floor? That is exactly how I felt when I finished The Family Lies by Angela Henry. Short synopsis: Sabrina Adams is an unemployed librarian, working part-time in a bookstore and living with her older sister Cami and Cami's lecherous husband Bruce. Or is she? Sabrina is offered what seems like the perfect opportunity to restore the library of the late Lorraine Dorsey, matriarch of one of the richest families in Harper's Ferry, Ohio. The offer is made by Lorraine's charming and debonaire son Theodore- or is he? Sabrina must live in Dorsey home for the two years the project is projected to take, and abide by the rules of the house as outlined by the rather distant and overbearing housekeeper Anna Manning. This book is indeed a thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat: unsolved murders, new murders, family secrets,...etc. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, although a few of the resolutions stretched the imagination a bit, All in all, and with the jaw-dropping ending I highly recommend The Family Ties. Thanks to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and Angela Henry for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book; my review reflects my honest opinion. 4 stars

A Gripping and Suspenseful Read! This was my first time reading Angela Henry, and I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. The Family Lies is a gripping 5-star read brimming with lies, deception, and suspense! Set in Harper’s Ferry, Ohio, the story follows Sabrina, a bookstore employee who lands her dream job working in a private library. However, the house she’ll be working in has a dark history of misfortune for outsiders. Will she truly be safe there? The narrative unfolds through multiple perspectives, primarily Sabrina’s, as we learn how she found herself in her current circumstances. The story also delves into the lives of Belle, who is struggling with her own unique circumstances, and Jared, a police detective. Each character is richly developed, including Theo, the millionaire son who now heads his late father’s company. Angela Henry has crafted a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat with its twists and turns. The characters are well-developed and the plot is engaging, making it hard to put the book down. I highly recommend The Family Lies to anyone who loves a good suspenseful read.

The Family Ties by Angela Henry is a little slow and confusing at first. It’s intriguing, sitting on the edge of the seat thrilling book along with twists and turns, red herrings and difficult to put down. The book content does indeed reflect the title of the book. The content is full of family lies and stories while a confusing romance is budding. It’s close to the ending of when the real action begins and the clues and hints revealed in earlier chapters are beginning to make sense. A book recommended for readers who love to read mystery and thriller with a touch of love and romance

This book kept me on my toes! I was not expecting that plot twist! I did not see any of that coming!!

The story flowed well and the characters were well developed. I recommend this book and look forward to more from this author.
****Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review****

thankyou storm publishing and netgalley for the approved request of this arc!
the family lies was a short-paced, plot twisted and thrilling book that had me up wanting to find out what occurs next! from the minute sabrina moved in to the Dorsey’s home and once Mrs Manning gave her those odd rules(????) i thought to myself “sabrina….GET OUT!!”. i didn’t see the plot twists coming AT ALL, even the one towards the end. With us having 3(4) different POV’s in this book it wasn’t confusing at all! i lived for the drama and it reminded me of the housemaid!
first book i’ve read by angela henry & i will definitely check out more, this was so so enjoyable and unputdownable!

I struggled with this style of writing - it's not to say it was bad, we just didn't gel.
I did enjoy it and I was pleased I read it.

Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for an early copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. I loved this book so much and read it in one sitting! I was in shock of some of the twists. I could not put this book down. I loved the characters and the storyline. I would definitely recommend this book.

The Family Lies by Angela Henry is a psychological thriller about a young woman who goes to work for a wealthy family.
First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Storm Publishing, and the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
My Synopsis: (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Sabrina Adams takes a job for the wealthy Dorsey family to organize, restore, and appraise their library. Her dream job, and her boss is easy on the eyes. She isn't quite as qualified as she had told them, but she knew enough to do this job.
She isn't the only one keeping secrets though. The estate has some strange rules, run by a strange housekeeper, and the house has a rather strange layout.
Theodore Dorsey seems to bow to the housekeeper, but his charms make him the most eligible bachelor in town. That's if he isn't a killer.
Mrs. Manning, the housekeeper has really bizarre rules, but she seems to be able to justify them all. She runs a tight ship.
Luca, the teenager living with the family, is socially inept. Her mother is off somewhere, neglecting her only daughter.
The estate itself seems to have hidden rooms, and a lot of floors. It's a bit creepy, and occasionally strange sounds emanate from it.
Sabrina sees a strange figure on the grounds at night.
There also seems to have been a lot of deaths and disappearances surrounding this family.
Sabrina starts wondering who she can trust.
My Opinions:
WOW, this book had a lot of twists, right to the end! The plot was sometimes a little "out there", but overall, very entertaining.
This book was about lies and deceptions. It was also about families and love, all of them somewhat dysfunctional.
I did not always like the protagonist. Sabrina often behaved like a nosy child, and I started wondering if she may be an unreliable narrator, but not in the way it turned out.
The book was told from multiple viewpoints, thereby adding depth to the characters and the story.
Overall, this was a fun and entertaining read, and although there were a few areas that dragged, I found that it moved quite well. So many twists....I will now be looking for other books by this author.

"Every family has secrets, the Dorseys bury theirs."
The Family Lies is a psychological thriller that focuses on family secrets, deception and trust, all while seamlessly building up the suspense. This book follows Sabrina Adams as she begins her new job as a private librarian for the mysterious Dorsey family. She seems to have bitten off more than she can chew when unsettling things start to happen. As a live-in librarian she must follow a rigid set of rules enforced by the formidable housekeeper Mrs. Manning. Theo Dorsey is a tall, dark and handsome charmer, but fractures in his facade start to show. Especially when the police question him about a missing woman. Sabrina doesn't know who to trust, who to turn to, or who to believe. This book was paced a little slowly in the beginning but it is all building up to the twists which come at lightning speed towards the end. You start to piece everything together and understand the motivations behind everybody's actions and lies. By the end of the book everything gets wrapped up nicely. Overall this was a good read with plenty of twists to keep you saying "just one more chapter."
Thank you to NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and Angela Henry for this ARC opportunity.
Expected publishing date is January 22nd 2025.
