Thanks to Severn House and NetGalley for ARC.

Blake Glover spent 30 years as a PC in Glasgow. Never rose through the ranks, never showed ambition. Now in retirement he's drawn back to Fraserburgh, town of his earliest childhood memories. He gets a job driving a taxi for a firm even more ramshackle than he is, and he starts to contact people from his past, looking for stories of his mother. He is asked to look into the disappearance of a young woman from a local upmarket hotel, and finds out more than he bargained for, which puts himself and others in more danger than he could have foreseen.

This is cracking. Fraserburgh, the historic fishing port, as smuggling hub is a tale as old as time and this breathes fresh life into it. Glover and his associates are well drawn and the plot fairly careens along. I had some big issues with the big secret, which I won't reveal for fear of spoilers, but I just went with it, ignored the shoddy suspension and enjoyed the ride. Looking forward to the next outing for Glover. As this is the first Morgan Cry book I've read (disgraceful admission as he's a Bloody Scotland stalwart) I've now rectified that error.

this was a good book! It reminded me of the movie "carry on" and it had a similar thrilling tense felinbg to it. I liked the twists and turns, and how it kept me entertained the whole time. Good read!!

Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!

Thank you NetGalley and Severn House for the eARC.
To begin with I enjoyed this book. I love books set in Scotland, but this one disappointed me. As the story progressed it felt more and more over the top: a science fiction-like drug being the main crime along with murder just didn't do it for me.
