I will read anything Kennedy related. I am fascinated by this whole time period went to the the museum in Dallas. Stay there a crazy amount of time. Because I'm just fascinated with everything. If you're into the Kennedy conspiracies, the assassination, the Kennedy life read it, you won't regret it. Some of the stuff I'd heard about before some of the stuff was new, some of the stuff makes you wonder some of the stuff is crazy, but it's it's a good read if you are into the kennedy lore
I am an avid JFK fan, and had high hopes for this book. I am on the fence about this book. In some respects it was a good read, but in others, it really in my opinion did not give much new information. Yes, it was well researched, but it just did not have the "pop" for me. For this reason, I would say it was a decent read, but not great. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest thoughts. Receiving the book in this manner had not bearing on my thoughts.
Such a fascinating subject which has generated so many books and theories. The title gave me a sense of something different. This screams research and due diligence. It takes all the available unfo and places it in rhe concept if tge times and events. It asks difficult questions and backs up everything. It was long but needed to be so. This is a good unbiased look at all the evidence available . As always Sue to rge nature and topic there csn be no final answer. I really enjoyed this and learnt new facts. Worth sticking with but be warned there is nothing final to this. Thank you netgallery and publisher and author for this 4 star read.
I’m old enough to be one of those people who knew exactly where they were when they heard the news of Kennedy’s assassination. I’d just returned home from a school dance and the tv was on as I walked into the house and it became a moment frozen in time. The news was so shocking and over the next days, coverage was non stop. Now similar events are almost routine and it’s difficult to remember the worldwide impact of the Kennedy assassination.
Over the decades, I’ve followed the investigations and allegations with interest. I’ve read numerous books on the subject, including a synopsis of the ( laughable) Warren Report, seen documentaries, films and viewed various conspiracy theories. It’s such a complicated web of deceit and cover up, unravelling the strands of truth is complex.
I’ve really enjoyed Randall Windle’s exploration of the event. It’s clearly well researched and he takes an interesting perspective by placing it in the context of the time. Again, looking back, it’s easy to forget the Cold War; the world had been on the brink of nuclear war over Cuba a few months earlier and there was a very different political and world climate. Oswald was always an enigmatic figure, the American Secret Services and their heads had an agenda there were reasons for some to want Kennedy off the world stage. Windles has an engaging and readable style and presents the complexities, possibilities and facts in a very accessible way. Anyone looking for a single book to present an unbiased look at the reality and background of the principle players need look no further. This is a brilliant book on the subject.
Thank you, Pen & Sword, for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I just finished The Final Trigger: The Truth and Lies of JFK’s Assassination, by Randall Windle.
This book will be published on November 30, 2024.
This was a disappointing book about the assassination. While the book purports to be about the assassination, the amount of just background information vs. review of the evidence is far too skewed in favor of the former. While the book appears to not take a definitive position on whether Oswald was a lone shooter or a conspiracy, whenever the author takes a position on something, it is almost always in the direction of a lone shooter.
This book really adds nothing to the assassination literature. That is not grounds for me to give a book a bad grade—provided that it is interesting, well-written and provides a good look at the evidence. Unfortunately, this book fails on all three counts.
I give this book a D.
Goodreads and NetGalley require grades on a 1-5 star system. In my personal conversion system, a D equates to 1 star. (A or A+: 5 stars, B+: 4 stars, B: 3 stars, C: 2 stars, D or F: 1 star).

I’ve never met a book about the JFK assassination I didn’t want to read. I can easily give the audio tour at the 6th floor museum. This was a good book for someone who knows A LOT about JFK, his assassination and conspiracies. I enjoyed how the author spent a lot of time on Oswald and his background, along with what was going on in the world at the time with the Cold War and the Cuban conflict.

This was a fantastic look into what was going on with JFK’s assassination. It had a great case about what happened and was researched in a way that worked overall. I thought Randall Windle wrote this in a way that worked and was glad I was able to read this.
