Over-long, and clumsy – or at least loose – in the making, this is a biography of Scorsese, told from his point of view. It's desperate to stick to the successful films and ignore the others, it has practically the greatest editor ever – Thelma Schoonmaker – simp over the subject, and all told it's a hagiography for people who know the subject, ie know all the contents. The rest of us probably need not apply, for it's a touch dry, very woolly, and a bit of a name-dropping love-in with old school Hollywood, all told. And while there's nothing at all wrong with old school Hollywood, watching it is so much better than reading about it.

As the man behind Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Gangs of New York, The Departed, Wolf of Wall Street, The Irishman, Killers of the Flower Moon and my personal choice for the title of the greatest film of all time, Goodfellas, Martin Scorsese might just be the world's finest living filmmaker. This beautifully constructed graphic novel brings the first eighty-two years of the great American film director vividly to life.

Great graphic novel and biography on one of the most famous and incredible directors in Hollywood of all time.
