So cute picture book with vibrant images, cute characters, and a great subtle message about not giving up, and trying over and over until you achieve something! Kids will love this book!!

This book is colorful and the illustrations and concept is very fun. The rhythming in this story was not my favorite as it sometimes felt a bit forced and took away from the actual story. There are a few times in the story that I felt the flow struggled and there didn’t seem to be good transitions from page to page. Overall this book has the potential to be great but to me still has some areas that could be fine tuned to help with flow and clarity.

A fantastic laugh out loud book that I thoroughly enjoyed! Every page is unique with its very funny commentaries and illustrations. There are so many entertaining things going on within this story.A complete joy to read. A question I have never thought to ask but I was excited to find out how this dragon would get to try a snow cone!
Many thanks to the Author and Publisher through Netgalley for the ARC.

This Dragon likes snow cones and turns an adventurer to invent ways to eat tasty snow cones.
When it finally does get to enjoy the snow cones after facing challenges, lo!
Its interests run amuck.
This cutesy story gets even cutesier with its cutesiest illustrations!
Beautiful, cute, apt illustrations.
Children are going to love this book!

Being a dragon comes with some challenges, namely that eating frozen treats can be nearly impossible. But Dragon is determined and we follow him on his quest to eat a snow cone. The illustrations are cute and the cast of characters is fun. My trouble with this book lies in the clunkiness of the words. The insistence on rhyming comes at the cost of a consistent rhythm and often creates awkward word choices, especially considering the grade school demographic. Additionally, it’s about ten pages too long to really hit a home run. Issues aside, it’s a book that is sure to get some giggles from the younger crowd.

I read this to my daughter and she liked it, it was funny and cute and the illustrations are really good. The book describes how to overcome difficulty when you reach a roadblock in pursuing your dream. I’m also a fan of dragons, so this was fun for me as a mother to be reading to my kid.

Dragons Can’t Eat Snow Cones is a delightful addition to Amanda Sobotka’s clever and fun books and has quickly become a family favorite. The kids absolutely loved it—both for its hilarious storyline and the vibrant, imaginative illustrations that bring the dragon’s antics to life. The humor is clever enough to entertain adults while keeping young readers giggling from start to finish. The book was charming with its creative twists and engaging storytelling. A perfect read for anyone who loves dragons, laughs, and a touch of whimsy!

I received an electronic ARC from Cider Mill Press through NetGalley.
Readers watch as a dragon experiments with various ways to taste a snow cone before his flames melt it. Other animals offer all sort of options more silly than the last. Finally, they discover a way to enjoy a rather large one. The illustrations capture the fun and craziness as the story unfolds in rhyme. Families will enjoy reading this one together or a young reader can read it on their own.

I couldn't resist snagging this cute book from NetGalley because the cover and the title reminded me of one of our favorite bedtime reads, Dragons Love Tacos.
I just finished reading it to my 6 year old and I'm going with her rating of 5 stars. It was a really cute story and I absolutely love the illustrations. My only complaint is that the rhyming felt off at times, which made reading out loud a little clunky, but otherwise it was a fun book.

What a cute book! Dragon wants to eat a snowcone but they keep melting! Whatever is he to do?
I think that the book could have been two situations shorter - I think by the time we reached the squirrels, I was over the trial and error situations, and ready for a solution. Typically, I don’t love rhyming children’s books, because I think most authors break the rhythm several times during the book, which makes me annoyed. While the author broke rhythm once or twice, it wasn’t wildly noticeable, and did not disrupt my reading experience.
A cute read!

The illustrations on this were so lively and fun. I found the story to be engaging and a great read for younger kids when they are being read to. I would say this isn't necessarily meant for kids that are reading alone. Also, some of the vocabulary is not "kid-friendly" in terms of comprehension. I liked the style and attempt at rhyming throughout, but some parts were more of a stretch to keep the rhythm going, which was difficult to keep the momentum with. Overall, the story was cute and lively. It was a quick and colorful read too.

This book is SO cute!!! And looong, which we loved. It kept my 3 year old's attention the whole time (a feat!) We're pre-ordering the print version.

This is a really fun read!! Who doesn't love dragons and snow cones?! I think I need to get this one for the elementary school kids I read with. They would love this one!
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my review.

This book has beautiful, colorful, and engaging illustrations for both children and adults alike. The story line is easy to follow for younger readers, and the rhyming is fun for adults who read aloud to their children.
This book follows the story of a fire-breathing dragon who, with the help of his friends, tries to brainstorm ways he can eat a snowcone without it melting first. The story is great for touching on themes of problem solving & imaginative thinking.
4/5 stars because some of the rhymes didn't flow perfectly. I also would have loved to see the ending be a collaborative effort between dragon and all his friends instead of an accidental happenstance.
Thank you to @netgalley, Cider Mill & Applesauce Press, for an advanced copy of this book for review.

Looking for a fun, engaging, silly seasonal read that is secular? This is for you! This would make a fantastic read aloud for younger kids (K-2) and a fun book for older elementary kids to read themselves. The dragon in the story is dying for a snow cone -- they're so delicious and colorful and sweet!--but every time he tries to eat it, it instantly melts; he is a dragon, after all. A really fun part of the story is all of the different ways he tries to eat a snow cone, even including a canon, and guessing what way, if any, will eventually be successful. Readers will love seeing all of the dragon's antics and guessing what will finally work. Though it's never mentioned this way, the dragon shows great perseverance and resilience; though he struggles with this challenge he doesn't give up and keeps trying different ways. He doesn't get too discouraged but instead keeps problem-solving. This aspect makes it a stand-out read to me: Without mentioning it at all, we can read a fun, silly, engaging tale and teach kids about resilience. Of course, if you wanted to, it would be a great part of an SEL unit or curriculum for this reason but you could also just read it for giggles and it would still be great. I think this is a very versatile read for many types of kids and many ages and I can see so many kids being enthralled reading or listening to this one. Highly recommend to all public and school libraries for elementary students.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. All the dragon wanted was a sno vibe but it kept melting before he could get it. He asks several animals for help and is determined to get a sno cone no matter what. He finally gets one in the end.

Dragons Can’t Eat Snow Cones is a hilarious story about a dragon who wants to eat a snow cone but keeps melting it with his breath! The plot was wonderfully unpredictable and left me entertained as I wondered what silly adventure he going to go on next. I loved the message of never giving up, as the dragon refused to give up on finding a way to eat the snow cone.
The illustrations were just as exciting as the words, filled with color and imaginative pictures. The rhythming scheme was also very entertaining, keeping a nice flow on each page. Some pages had bigger text to emphasize words, which I found to be a fun choice!
Overall, I love this story because it invokes laughter and curiosity throughout the entire reading experience. It is a wonderful story for young children with a love for animals and adventure.
Thank you, NetGalley and Cider Mill Press, for the opportunity to read this book.

Quirky and lively art. This book champions the idea that if at first you don't succeed, try try again, because you never know when your efforts might be rewarded.
A bit long winded and some of the rhymes felt forced, but this was still an entertaining read.

Thank you NetGalley! What a cute book about dragons. The rhyming and illustrations help children follow how this determined dragon will eat a snow cone. Kids will love it!

This is a cute kids book. I read it to my daughter and she like it also. You find yourself cheering for the dragon to resolve his dilemma. I like how smooth the read is. It does a good idea of teaching kids how to resolve issues while being fun to read. I loved the illustrations and can definitely see myself buying this book for my kids friends.
