A news anchors 6 year old son is kidnapped from Central Park. Terror, stress and panic ensues …
The central plot of this book is decent if formulaic , twists and turns and a fairly engaging story. However , I found the depiction of the main characters let this book down. They lacked substance and any redeeming characteristics and so this made it difficult to care for the plot. The female characters in particular were unrealistic and the police characters felt a bit unoriginal.
I also thought the pacing was very uneven and I probably would have enjoyed this book more if it was 100 pages shorter.
A decent story but weak characters disappointed me.

What an excellent read! A twisting rollercoaster of emotions in which you are never sure who to trust. This story covers child abduction, environmental disasters, misogyny and the impact of misinformation. All topics at the front of the news today. Not only that, but it’s an enjoyable read too. I will be searching out more from Rick Mofina for sure.

3.5🌟 rounded up, just missed the 4 stars due to reasons i explain further on.

I enjoyed this book, it was very well narrated by Jennifer Jill Araya, who was able to give all characters different tones and nuances. The pitches were also well delivered at the times when needed to build suspense, etc, and develop the emotion you'd imagine if you were watching this as a movie, absolutely very well done.

The story itself finds Charlotte collecting her brother Gabriele from school in NYC where he takes off in Central Park playing with his model flying plane whilst she is in the process of texting with an older boy Vince whome her parents Corina and Robert were not happy about. It was at this time that suddenly Gabriel dissappears, and Charlotte asked for the assistance of a police officer on a horse, and from here, the investigation began to unfold.

Corina is a news journalist well known in the media and had a security team in place due to previous threats but things had calmed down to mostly online slurrs so she had felt safer meaning she had cancelled the use of that precaution over the last year they has been living a more normal life as she wanted her kids to have as normal a life as possible.

When Gabriel went missing the father Robert was on a flight on his was home from a business meeting his work involved alot of possible people being upset but could anyone really be that disappointed with his work they would use his son as leverage?

Then of course Corina herself has made many enemies along the way in her line of work but there is alot of speculation in regards to things that may happen within the lives if high profile individuals such as trafficking with various conspiracy theories as to who could be involved and why...

The family dynamics of the Corado family begin to be deeply picked apart in regards to the private adoption, etc, by people Corina considered close working friends...

There were many characters involved in this story, which does help in the beginning of who abducted Gabriel. The actual structure itself and bones of the story was good, with various important topics being covered such as trafficking, the dark web, suspicious adoptions, cults, corruption, and more. I felt it was a little drawn out and could have been concluded a bit quicker, it began to loose my interest and attention. It felt a little repetitive or predictable even at times. This is really the only main issue I had with this one. However, it is still an enjoyable listen overall.

This is the first I've read of this author and would still be interested n more in the future. With thanks to Netgalley & Bolinda Audio for this ARC in return for my own opinions to review this title.

An exciting story for most of the time but it did get repetitive at times. I couldn’t wait to pick up my earphones and listen though and that proves to me it’s one to recommend. I do get annoyed when one or other parent doesn’t seem to be in total angst when their child is missing and whilst the mother was clearly distraught I didn’t fe3l all that from the dad. A good four stars from me.

Someone Saw Something
Rick Mofina

🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was my first read by this author and so I wasn't sure what to expect - but the front cover and title intrigued me and drew me in.
As you know, I don't read blurbs before reading, so wasn't even sure which way this story would play out.

We get straight into this from the first few pages as we meet our main characters and see a snippet from Corina's past.
Then present day, while walking home from school with his sister, Corina's son, Gabriel, goes missing and we then follow the family as the investigation and search begins.

I was a little torn with this because basically, being a working mum, especially in her field (news anchor), Corina doesn't always have the time to devote to her children.
Her husband, Robert, also works away a lot and so I really felt for the children first of all.
But as the story develops and we learn more background, I started to really feel for the parents too.
All that guilt adding pressure to an already tense situation made me quite emotional.

This was a real page turner and once different things started to be uncovered, I couldn't stop thinking about theories about who and why - but also couldn't stop listening to this.
There were so many different threads to the storyline and so many characters, that it was really hard to not be suspicious of everyone and this kept me guessing right until the final reveal.

There were many lessons to be learned here and it really made me grateful for the life that I've been able to lead with my own children.
A very relatable story and one that I really connected with for different reasons.

Well plotted and written - a most enjoyable, twisty read and I'm sure that I'll be reading more by this author in the future.

💕Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

This one started off well and had my attention but as it progressed it just never really went anywhere. It lacked the fast pace that you expect from a thriller. For me it was extremely repetitive with nothing in the way of surprises. There was a lot of backstory when it came to the characters but nothing that really added to the story. It’s a well written storyline but just lacked suspense. I neither liked nor disliked the characters but felt I didn’t really get to know them. This one wasn’t for me unfortunately.

Someone saw something doesn't just pack a punch, it's a frenzied fistful of them! As soon as you think the answer is in reach, beware, I lost count of the number of times I felt the rug being pulled from beneath me. There is a lot and I mean *a lot* going on in this book, and a pace that doesn't give you much opportunity to keep up, so buckle up!

A really good listen. A breathtaking story full of twists and turns. A really good engaging narrator.

Unfortunately, some of the power in this narrative was lost due to the sheer number of scandalous going ons this one family was somehow involved in. This overshadowed the dramatic emotional pull of a lost child and the important exploration of white professional power and how it aids and villianises its own.

I haven't read a Rick Mofina book for a while. This made me realise what I had been missing. There is something very voyeuristic about listening to a family essentially implode with a missing child. This was very well written and engaged me throughout with trying to work out what happened with the lose threads It worked well.

The narration kept me engaged

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was fantastic! I loved the author’s writing style of weaving the different stories together to create one jaw dropping conclusion. Highly recommend this one!

A first read for me from this author, I was reminded a lot of Linwood Barclay. The story is set with chapters spanning over days giving the reader the impression of following the investigation in real time.

Corina is a news anchor with a rags to riches type personal story, she’s made many an enemy in her career, and just as she’s let her families security team go, her son Gabriel disappears while walking home from school with his sister.

Corina quickly goes from delivering the news to being the news.

At times it was a little tricky to keep up with who was who, there are so many characters, so many motives and a huge lot of back story, perhaps it could’ve benefited from being condensed a little bit or even being set over a short series? In fact in saying that I could imagine this working well for tv.

Having said that, I couldn’t wait to get to the conclusion and find out what had happened to Gabriel and why. I certainly didn’t guess how it would turn out, I’d be keen to read more from the author.

I enjoyed the narration by Jenifer Jill.
