I adore this series so much and I'm honestly so sad it might be over. I could honestly read more books set in this world with these amazing characters. The world-building was just as magical as it was in the first two books. I really enjoyed getting to see more of the faerie realm, lore and Irish folklore and seeing Emily and Wendell take on their new roles.
I loved that we got to see more romance between Emily and Wendell! Wendell is absolutely smitten and so protective of Emily and we got to see more of Emily's own feelings and the lengths she would go for Wendell.
I really do hope we get more books with these characters because I love them so much. With Heather's magical writing, captivating romance and the blend of folklore, this series is one of my all-time favourites and will always hold a special place in my heart.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

“Shall we retake our kingdom, Em?” 😌
At the end of the second book, Emily and Wendell finally managed to travel to Wendells realm. This last book of the Emily Wilde trilogy continues just right where we left off…
We get to witness our beloved duo making their way through the faerie realm, embark on new adventures, meet new and old friends and try to figure out how to reign over a faerie kingdom together, despite neither of them really knowing how to…but naturally it is not as easy and perfect as one would hope, because Wendells stepmother has not died after Emily had managed to poison her in the previous book. She is not only missing but also seems to have put some sort of curse upon the land, which is rapidly poisoning the realm.
Will our beloved scholar duo be able to stop her? Will they be able to defeat the queen with the power of stories?
Trying to save Wendells realm was not the only hardship Emily is facing in this book...just as Emily has expected, living in a faerie realm as a mortal is not a piece of cake…How will Em be able to deal with all the drastic changes in her life? And how will all of this affect her relationship with Wendell, now that he is back in his own realm and can embrace his true self again?
Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales is, just like the previous two books, a wonderfully cozy and fun read. It’s a nice escape from reality that isn’t too overwhelming or makes one feel too tense or stressed. There were so many moments in this book that made me laugh and giggle and one of Wendells presents for Emily actually made me cry (his last present with the special word for Shadow…the fact that he gave her the chance to spend a little more time with her most beloved companion was just too much to handle🥺😭). Emily and Wendells love and dynamic is what makes these books so special to me and this book did not disappoint when it came to all that.
I also appreciated how certain „loose ends“ from the precious books (namely the whole situation with the Ice King) were brought back and got tied together in this one.
There were also moments in the book where I wasn’t really sure if I liked the way things were handled, especially when it came to Emilys trip into the veil. It just felt a little too rushed and easy for her to get in there and leave without any harm or repercussions. And I wasn’t sure if I liked the way how things ended when it came to Queen Arna in general. I understood the necessity of getting the queen out of the veil but letting her live freely as if she didn’t murder Wendells entire family and brought so much pain and torment upon the folk in his realm does not feel quiet right…It would have made more sense to let her stay in a dungeon for the remainder of her life…but I also understand that this feeling of unease was intended. She is meant to be a possible threat even if she claims otherwise.
I am overall very grateful to have been introduced to the wonderful world of the Emily Wilde books and I’m going to miss all of the characters and their adventures very dearly. <3

If I one day erupt into uncontrollable screams and go charging into the woods, tearing at my hair, who but Wendell will be to blame?
This was such an amazing ending to this series! I honestly wish that there would be more books in this series because I’m not ready to say goodbye!! The romance was even more better in this one, I could not get enough of Emily and Wendell. The things he done for her had me swooning. The protectiveness as well like where can I find a man like him?? No one warned me that Wendell letters would have me yearning for more. Like this man wrote her letters!! Please can someone write me a letter. This is one of the series that honestly brings me so much cosiness and happiness that I don’t want to say goodbye to any of the characters.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this cosy fantasy series, and it was wonderful to return to the world in this final installment.
I did find that the pacing of the book felt off at times and, although it started from where the previous book left off, it still took me some time to get into. It felt like some scenes were dragged out whereas others were quickly brushed over despite being more significant. Despite this, I loved going back into the world and learning more about Wendell's realm. As with the other books, the descriptions were lyrical and I could really imaging the world.
This book heavily centres on Emily but it does also bring in many characters from the previous books and it was lovely to see them again! You can also really see Emily's character development from her interactions with the characters in this book compared to when she first met them earlier in the series. I do wish that we had seen more of Emily and Wendell, however, as I really enjoy their bickering and romance but that was less prominent in this book.
Overall, this is a wonderful cosy fantasy series and I thoroughly recommend it!

It took me forever to finish this book.
Continuing with the theme of the previous two books, as much as I like the characters, the story itself is just okay and this time it was especially slow. I felt like nothing was really happening and what did happen was basically a repetition of what we had already seen in the other two books. Emily is great MC, but everything else was just meh.

I went into this book with high hopes and it did not disappoint. I have loved the first 2 books so much it ticks so many boxes for me. I adore Emily and Wendell so much, the way they interact with each other makes me laugh so much it’s so humorous. And the way he smiles at her when she’s just being her had me giggling and kicking my feet. Aside from their interactions I loved the plot of this one, it moved forward from the previous book well, had good pacing and had a good mix of new and old characters. I loved learning about new common fae and hearing fairy stories and the way both were important to the plot was great. It’s magical, romantic, funny, interesting and has brilliant characters. Heather fawcett you have knocked it out of the park again, thank you for giving me these characters

Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc of this book.
I was very excited to read this as soon as I got it but then I realized that’d be the end of the series for me so I decided to read it only now before the release.
I really enjoyed this and overall the series is definitely a 5★ read for me. It had to be one of my favorites and I can’t wait to read more stories by this author.
With that said, this might have been my least favorite out of the trilogy. The pacing was off and we kept going back and forth in the story. I wish it was more cohesive. I can’t really say more without spoiling it, but that was my main issue with the story.
Otherwise I loved the writing and as always I adored the characters so so much. I loved seeing some of the characters from previous books return and I really missed being in this world.
If you loved the previous two books I cannot recommend this enough.

One of my most-anticipated reads of the year! I adore the Emily Wilde series and was obsessed with the first two book. The "Compendium of Lost Tales" is the final book in the trilogy, so I was a little nervous if it would manage to stick the landing.
And mostly, it does!
I do have to admit that it's my least favourite one in the trilogy, but that doesn't mean much. It's still highly enjoyable with great, fun characters all around, the mysteries are intriguing, the romance is swoonworthy. Do I miss some of the banter between Emily and Wendell that I loved in the previous books? Admittedly, yes, but the love between them in this finale is just wonderful. Wendell remains undefeated as a fae love interest, noone comes even close.
The book had some pacing issues and I also didn't like how some of the emotional beats of the story were handled - there is one major scene that should have made me cry but it was handled in a surprisingly unemotional way and the heartwrenching problem it presented was solved way too quickly (and, dare I say, remarkably off the page with Emily as a passive bystander more or less) to leave any lasting impact on me or honestly really engage me while I was reading. Still, there were some great scenes, the humour works wonderfully yet again, and I just really really love Emily and Wendell and the world Fawcett created around them. Would read a hundred more books set in this world.
So in the end? A perfectly fine ending to one of my favourite romance reads of like, the last decade. I like the ending, I love the romance, I will remember each character fondly. Did it stick the landing, then? Yes, and I'm so very happy about it.

It is so refreshing to follow a romantic fantasy series with both fantasy and romance elements that are equally well developed. The previous two in this trilogy were a delightful breath of fresh air, and this instalment did not disappoint either. The writing is charming without becoming twee, the opposites-attract romance is engaging and there is plenty of plot, going between fairy lands and an alternate England of 100 years ago. It all hangs together so well, and, perhaps because the pace wasn't bogged down by a sex scene every chapter, as with others in this genre, I found myself reading from start to finish in one go.

Thank you Netgalley and Little Brown Bookgroup for my ARC!
I was so excited to read the last book in the Emily Wildes series because I wanted to know how it ends. These books are just so good because they have all the little faerie myths in them most of us know.
Seeing Emily’s and Wendell’s journey from Cambridge to finally reach their destination, Silva Lupi was so exciting. Especially knowing this is the first time in ten years Wendell has seen his kingdom and home. Also seeing Emily’s and Wendell’s relationship further grow and Emily accepting her new role as faerie queen was so well done. It had me giggling while reading it.
I don’t know what Heather Fawcett puts in her books but this one was once again an amazing mixture between adventure, storytelling and falling into another world, even just for a short while.
This book was truly a great way to end the series and I’m sad to see it finished.

Bookreview: Emily Wilde's Compandium of Lost Tales ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What is a book you know you are going to love this year and wish you could savor forever?
I finished the ARC of the last Emily Wilde novel and it was so bitter sweet. I just absolutely adore how cosy but truly fantastical this series feels!
Without spoiling the finale let me tell you this: Emily is a scholar and we love her for it, she is smart and has an inquisitive mind. She is introverted and passionate about her profession: studying the fae. Throughout the series she goes to different places to write an encyclopedia, make a map of the fae realms and finally collect all known lore in a compandium of stories.📖🧚♀️
The books are filled with footnotes and details without distracting from the story and truly male it a light academia setting. The setting is very vivid and the relationships despide being introverted are made for life.
This is truly a wholesome novel that makes you want to be a faerie scholar yourself.
I truly feel a fae-shaped hole after finishing this!
If you have any recommendations please put that in the comments and dont forget to pick this book up next week!💖🙏

Rating: 5 Stars
Thank you @Netgalley and @LittleBrownBookGroup for approving my request to read this ARC!
I have loved the first two books of the Emily Wilde's series and it's safe to say I utterly adored Compendium of Tales too. Fawcett's writing is simply magical and there's something heartwarming returning to her world of faeries and folklore.
Reading Emily's journey from Cambridge to the Silver Lupi has been an enchanting, cosy experience with a twist of peril here and there just to keep us readers on our toes. I'm not sure if this is the final installment, and if it is, I truly think the ending rounds everything up quite nicely. But, of course, I hope there is more - and while I wait, I intend to read the whole series again! It's definitely one of those books where I feel you can reread it over and over again and find something new to enjoy from it. There's a charm to this series and I have loved every second of it!
I wish the author every success on publishing day! I look forward to grabbing a physical copy on release day <3

Heather Fawcett is easily becoming one of my favourite authors. The way her writing makes you feel like you’re in a cosy cottage in the Cotswolds, sipping on hot chocolate while it’s raining outside, is just perfection. This series has been such a comfort read for me, and knowing that this is the final book makes it all the more bittersweet. While I adored every moment, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness that my time with Emily and Wendell has come to an end.
This book continues to capture the whimsical feeling of the first, and I absolutely loved getting to see more of Emily and Wendell’s love story. He is so completely obsessed with her, and it makes my heart feel so full. The way he dotes on her and would do absolutely anything had me swooning left, right, and center! And his letters?! Perfection. I love how hopelessly lost he is without her, and I could read about these two forever.
I also loved watching Emily navigate this new adventure of being a faerie queen, trying to find a balance between her old life and her new responsibilities. In this book, she allows her emotions and love for Wendell, her friends, and her precious Shadow to take center stage, alongside her passion for research and science. It’s a story filled with adventure, romance, and wonder, and it truly makes you feel as if you've stepped through the door into the land of faerie.
As much as I wish I could stay in this world forever, I couldn’t have asked for a more magical conclusion to the series. These books will always have a special place in my heart, and I know I’ll return to them whenever I need a little bit of whimsy and warmth.

I've been loving Emily Wilde series since I read the first book and fell in love with this logical, secretly romantic, clever woman who's out of the box. And I also fell in love with the other characters were they human, fae, Sidhe or pets.
There's a lot to love in this story and there's a lot of changes, challenges and some are even more difficult that face some angry royal fae or unknown places.
The usual mix of humour, fantasy, and well plotted story kept me reading and having fun. I didn't want it to end and hoped there would be another soon as I'm a bit addicted to Emily Wilde series.
Enjoyed, it's a great series
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

2/2,5⭐️
Unfortunately, this was quite the letdown for me.
I really enjoyed the first volume, and I dismissed my dislike for the second volume pretty quickly, blaming it on the second-book syndrome, but apparently, it wasn’t just that.
I dragged out this reading for quite a while, and during this period, I can’t recall a single time when I felt anything but annoyance when I had to pick it up.
I really appreciated the reappearance of some of the characters from the previous books, but overall I wasn’t invested in the story.
I didn’t feel that attachment to Emily and Wendall’s relationship or that interest in the plot that made me love the first volume; Shadow and Orga carried the entire book.
I would’ve appreciated it if the author had given us more interaction with a specific character (whom I’m not going to name to avoid any spoilers).
In general, I would’ve loved to see more of their interactions and relationships with the other characters.
Thank you to Little, Brown Book Group UK / Orbit and NetGalley for the ARC.

Oh Emily. Reading these books is the equivalent to getting cosy by the fire with a warm cup of tea. There's a comfort in reading about Emily's adventures. Mild peril and adventure mixed with a dash of romance and lush landscapes with many, many chaotic and overly dramatic Faeries. I can always rely on Heather Fawcett to make me feel at home.
In the third installment to the Emily Wilde series we find Emily finally returning with Wendell to reclaim his home. And it appears to be a surprisingly easy conquest with no sight of any evil Stepmothers insight, rather only an annoying little sister and overly enthusiastic Uncle with a penchant for violence. And an active audience of Fae to follow Emily around. It's certainly different to Emily's normal habitat, and at first I did question where the plot was going to go. However I needed have worried, as the peace of Wendell's kingdom doesn't last long as a curse soon starts to take hold. And this is when Emily comes into her element, researching solutions while Wendell frets over her. As usual it's a fun time, with plenty of cameos from Emily's found family too. If anything, it's a little too light on the periodic at times and the problems appear to be wrapped up very quickly, however I can mainly overlook this because I just had so much fun reading this.
As always I love the relationship between Wendell and Emily. He really is the sunshine to her grumpy nature. The charismatic charmer with effortless grace. He wants to make everyone happy. Well, most people. But especially Emily, and I love that. Emily is happiest on her own, surrounded by books and Wendell is constantly making sure Emily is happy, and has her own space for when everything becomes a bit overwhelming. He knows her better she knows herself most of the time. The only thing missing for me is the pining, and love sick moments from Wendell. He's got his girl at this point, and the tension between them is lessened somewhat as a result. I'm a sucker for longing, pointed moments and this is definitely missing those.
Overall I have loved this series with my whole heart. Emily, Wendell and and their unusual family of mortals, common Fae and unusually pets have a special place in my heart that I will continue to return too whenever I need a comforting read in difficult times. Thank you for the knowledge Emily, and thank you for the escape from everyday life Heather Fawcett.

I’m certainly not the only one who has been looking forward to this book. The first book in this series was, the second was even better and I was really curious how this series was gonna end in this third book. Luckily I stumbled upon the book on Netgalley and Orbit granted me a digital review copy. Last week it was finally time to start reading.
I enjoyed this book from start to finish. I’ve grown really attached to these characters and it was so much fun to explore more of Faerie with them. Although, the author also did an amazing job to integrate characters and other elements from the first two books in this series finale. It might have seemed that Emily was simply stumbling around and going with the flow, but it seems that everything she did and learned, does come in useful in this final adventure.
What I absolutely love about this series is that it has a sort of cozy vibe. Sort of. Because the stakes are still incredibly high, maybe higher than ever in this final book, however, due to the fact that we’re reading a diary, there is some sort of comfort that, no matter how bad things get, everything will eventually work out in the end. Or well, almost everything. When the stakes are high, there are consequences, after all.
I also feel like Emily did grow and learn a lot throughout this series. She did surprise me a few times in this last book, in a very good way, and yet it never felt out of character. She’s not the exact same Emily from the first book anymore, although she still has all her endearing qualities and is still a researcher through and through.
Without a doubt a million more stories can be told in this universe. If the author returns, I will follow. That’s a promise!

This was a solid third and final book. I enjoy Fawcett’s writing and she effortlessly builds a rich and immersive world where fae, enchanted creatures, and lost legends come to life. The writing is lush, and the world-building feels both grounded and expansive. I struggled a bit with the pacing of this book, but I adored the ending.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC.
Heather Fawcett once again wrote a magical, whimsy, comforting (but also a bit angsty) story. I enjoyed the progression of Emily and Wendells adventures - I felt that all the plot points were tied off, and we saw character development without losing the essence of what made them special. Also, Shadow is truly the best boy ever!
