Star-Crossed Darcy is the first novella I’ve by Sarah Deeham.

Jana and Finn’s relationship does not start out well. Jane was a huge fan of Finn’s prior to him humiliating her during an interview. Now despising him, it is a great surprise for her when he shows up to her book signing. She doesn’t think it can get any worse until they’re both locked in a bookstore storeroom. However, while in the storeroom, Jane and Finn realize just how wrong they were about the other person and things escalate very quickly.

This book is full of lots of humour and passion. I really liked how Sarah Deeham explained more about the characters backstory and why they are the way that they are. I also thought that Jane and Finn’s relationship with one another was very sweet. They both showed how much they care about one another despite their crazy work schedules. It just goes to show that if two people want to be together then they will make it work.

Thank you so much NetGalley, Sunshine & Story Press and Sarah Deeham for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

A cute novella between a celebrity and an author. Slight enemies to lovers (more on the FMC than MMC). MMC makes amends for a bad interview. Not necessarily Austen inspired but more of a love for Austen.

I received a copy from Netgalley and the publisher.

I'm always willing to read a Pride & Prejudice retelling or adjacent book. This was a nice, fun romance. I enjoyed the P&P tie in. The main character is an author of a fan fic based on a P&P TV show retelling. The male character is the actor who plays Darcy. They start with a love hate relationship because of something he said about her. Overall I really enjoyed it.

This novella was cute! It took me a little to get into it, but I read the last 75% in a day. I loved the plot line but found the male POVs a tad lacking in my opinion. Solid 3.5 stars!

What you get:
🌶️🌶️🌶️ spice
➡️Forced proximity
➡️bookstore love
➡️genuine friendships
➡️NO third act breakup

How many of us have sat in a bookstore, reading a classic, dreaming of finding a genuine connection while also feeling that life is passing us by?

Jane, despite being a famous author with a cult like following, dramas of a classic romance found in an Austen novel. And she has no idea what is in store for her in the stockroom of her friend’s bookstore.

5 stars – Star-Crossed Darcy by Sarah Deeham is the cutest, sexy novella about a fan fic author, FMC Jane and MMC actor, Finn. The story has great banter, some HOT moments and is truly adorable. Easy to read in one setting, you will not want to put this one down! Star-Crossed Darcy is book 4 in a series and now I’m going back to read the first three books.

A big “Thank You” to NetGalley and Sunshine & Story Press for allowing me to read an advance copy. This independent, honest review is happily shared.

Well this was a cute little read. I love the way Jane and Finn are forced to be together in the beginning. Nothing quite like forced proximity to get the love flowing. Jane was right to be skeptical but, lets be honest, we all say things in the heat of the moment and Finn didn't think things through when he spoke about Jane, causing Jane to be the butt of jokes. But the redeption was perfect and the ending was even better. I love a good HEA.

3.5*

This is a sweet and spicy read, perfect for fangirls.

I enjoyed the banter between the two MCs but I just wish that the enemies to lovers had a bit more time to develop.

I recommend this book if you enjoy:
📚 curvy FMC
📚 celebrity MMC
📚 romcom

Thank you Booksprout for the ARC.

I'd not heard of this series before but will definitley be checking out the rest of the books in the series. Jane and Flynn went from zero to something very quickly but then their relationship developed really nicely over the next few months with them communicating over text, I thought it was very well done especially considering it's a novella.
As a crocheter and knitter myself I very much enjoyed the knitathon scene and Flynn being determined to learn to knit.
Thank you for the arc. I will be checking out more of this authors work for sure.

A super cute, easy to read novella. I’ve honestly never read any Jane Austen but I love all the modern retellings of them I have read.

was a cute and easy read - but i would have loved if this was more of a full-length novel
… the writing was fun and witty but i just needed more of the characters etc .

This steamy novella is a good spicy and cute combo. The timeline is moving in turbo so keep up in this fun read.

Jane and Finn are on a fast track to love but let’s be real some of the best relationships start that way. I did like the small brake check during the family phone call that made it more real. That was the only roadblock/conflict. I think with novellas you have to push through and don’t have time for subplots but sometimes it can feel unrealistic.

The best part for me was the epilogue. I think it was very well put together and you really see how Finn has learned Jane.

I loved this sweet and spicy novella about an author who writes about Elizabeth and Dr. Darcy. She is upset to find she is doing a book signing with the actor who plays Darcy on tv. She admitted that her work was a bit of fan fiction and he made a joke about her in an interview which embarrassed her and resulted in anxiety for a year. When they are forced in a setting, they find chemistry and attraction. This book has plenty of humor and passion. I love that it didn't feel like a novella. I felt like I wasn't short changed on their story which is often the case in novellas.

2.5 stars

i really wanted to love this but, i didn't. i think it was perhaps the shortness of it, and that the story needed to be fleshed out a bit more with angst and i think it would've suited a slow burn more, it just felt a bit. lacking.

i don't think this type of trope is really for me either, but i tried it and know where i stand with it now.

it wasn't bad writing, just perhaps needed more than was provided, as there's practically zero development between jane and finn, plus i didn't really like finn that much anyway, i liked jane enough though.

Thank you very much NetGalley for the ARC of this novella!

3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I thought this novella did exactly what it set out to do, which was to entertain while requiring little brain power (and we all need those kinds of reads from time to time). As a huge fan of the 2005 movie version of Pride and Prejudice, I am always more than happy to read any books that spin from one of the best love stories of all time, so the draw was immediately there towards this story. I liked how quick of a read this was but almost wish it was a bit longer in some places, as I felt some parts were thrown in with not enough fleshing out for my taste. Overall a quick, fine read!

This is my second book I have read by this author. I love her writing style and the characters. I didn’t really like the Insta love it is a trope I don’t particularly enjoy. But I made it through this book and I didn’t want the book to end, I wish it was longer and we got to know the characters more and see more personal growth. It felt a little rushed.

4-⭐

This was a beautiful novella.
I loved the concept of a late night version of Jane Austen (I would genuinely read that kind of fanfiction) and the author/actor combination for the MCs 💕
I really loved our modern day -not- Mr. Darcy and his proactiveness (is that even an English word?) in pursuing and wooing Jane.
I liked the fact that Jane was such a headstrong character. And the fact that both MCs were ultimately sweet as two teddy bears.
The steamy scenes were a nice touch but I admit they didn't make me sweat. But maybe it was just my mind being other places today...

Anyway I'll definitely check the whole series by the author at the beginning of 2025.
I liked her style.
And (good)steamy novellas are like the episodes of a good sitcom. You have never enough ✨

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for sending me the arc for this novella!

I've never read anything from the author so I don't know what happens in the first 3 installments of "Falling for Famous", but this seemed too fun to pass out which means for once I'm going to read it backwards 😂

I absolutely adored this spicy novella. Finn is everything that Jane hates until one delicious encounter. This novella had me giggling and kicking my feet. Highly highly recommend
