Knightfall walks a line between redemption and obsession, with Axel (the main character) often struggling to understand the distinctions between them.
C.L. Embry is incredibly talented at bringing the words to life, with clear, bright scenes unfolding before you like a movie on a screen. Much credit is due to the vibrant, if chaotic, world and the characters who feel more like real people, especially with their flaws on the forefront.
A good first novel from a debut author, I hope to see more of their works in the future.

What an adventure this book was! This author delivered a tale for all who stand against conformity! A knight who seeks more than what he is given this far in his life. He dreams of deeper meaning and knowledge. You grow to love him as he makes mistakes and learns his true path. The characters were well developed and the world building was wonderful. I could truly picture this world. Definitely kept my attention. I'm excited for the next adventure this author gives us!
Thank you NetGalley and C.L Embry for the E-arc. This is my voluntary review.

I enjoyed reading this novel. I thought that CL Embry did an excellent job with the story. It had a multilayered depth that was filled with themes of redemption, self-discovery and the meaning of life. I found that Axel was well written, and his growth was laid out very well. I think this was a very deep subject matter that will stay with you long after you read it. I can't wait for more from this author. I recommend this to history/historical fiction readers.
Thank you Net Galley ARC, Pendulum Publications, and C.L. Embry.

This book was interesting from the start, had me hooked around CL Embry’s writing style and Axel’s character development from page 1. Really interested to see or hear if book two is coming out!

*Knightfall* by C.L. Embry is a compelling tale of self-discovery, ambition, and the search for meaning in a life weighed down by disappointment. Axel’s journey from a disgruntled castle knight to a man determined to master the mysterious art of alchemy is both gripping and relatable. His bitterness and frustration feel raw and human, making his quest to break free from the cycles of his past all the more poignant.
The story is beautifully layered with themes of redemption and transformation, and the world-building is rich, with just the right touch of mystery and magic. Axel’s reckless determination to find the last known alchemist adds an element of adventure that keeps you turning the pages, while his internal struggles ground the story in emotional realism. For fans of character-driven fantasy with a dash of alchemy and introspection, *Knightfall* is a thought-provoking and rewarding read. It reminds us that sometimes the greatest transformations start from within.

I’m sorry, but I am DNFing this book. Maybe I’ll try again, but the second chapter talks about sex workers being too overweight, and the MMC states “no amount of alcohol would arouse his manhood enough to bed those women” no thanks. Not for me. Maybe I’ll try to get past it, but right now, nope.
