Book three in the series, and I would definitely recommended reading the previous two books. This works as a standalone, but the other two are too lovely not to read!
Joel is dedicated to daughter Imogen, but fears he ex is going to move his daughter away from him. When it looks like he is also going to lose his job, his life seems to be changing drastically all at once. Poppy is desperate for a break - the pressure of her dad's deteriorating health is turning out to be detrimental to her own. When Poppy ends up bumping into Joel, there is an instant attraction. However, are either of them ready for a relationship?
I loved this ending to the series, it was fabulous to see old favourite characters, and I loved Poppy and Joel's story. I laughed and cried throughout, with the Alzheimer's story getting particularly close to home. Jessica Redland is a must-read author for me, her characters are relatable and her stories are so entertaining.
I loved this final installment in this series although some of it was a difficult read. Poppy's father suffering from dementia really got to me having witnessed this terrible disease with a close family member it did bring back a lot of memories. Apart from that I enjoyed this one and I shall miss this series. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Jessica Redland is a powerhouse of a writer and one of my favourite. I get excited when I have a new one to read.
This one finishes the series but I'm hoping that eventually another series will be set near the farm and we will have another glimpse into the lives of these well loved characters.
This story is about Joel who is Barney's ( from the farm) best friend Joel. Joel is a man with problems. His job which involves working nightshift is preventing him from seeing his daughter Immogen more often. He has been invited to various weddings of friends this year but can't find anyone of his own and his ex wife is making things difficult for him seeing his daughter enough.
We meet Poppy who has so much going on in her life she is running on empty. She works from home as an accountant, is a beekeeper and visits her 90 Yr old father everyday in his care home.
Just after her mother died her father started showing signs of Alzheimers and is now in the end stages of the disease. Poppy is stressed no end and when the head of the care home and her friends tell her it's time to take a holiday she hires a cottage which is to change her life forever.
This is such a feel good story. It's just like life, sad bits, hard bits ,and happy bits but the overall feel is that you make your own luck in life , you have to just push yourself and go and get it.
As I said I'm sad to be leaving this series but I've no doubt that Jessica has something every bit as good up her sleeve or in her pen for a future book.
Love it! It was great to be back with these characters again. I love this series and how it interconnects with lots of other books and characters.
Joel is a great character - always the bridesmaid and never the bride, but then along comes Poppy and all that changes. She sees his worth, she accepts him and his complicated life being a single dad. It was nice to see Joel getting his happy ending after meeting him in previous books, his love for his daughter was obvious considering the hassle he endured to ensure she is happy while dealing with his ex. He has a lot of decisions to make when life takes a lot of unexpected turns, but he finds he is no longer alone. Poppy supports him and makes his life happier.
Meeting Poppy was eye opening, my heart went out to her having to deal with her dad’s health decline after going through it with her mum already. She was floundering and didn’t really know how to move on and look after herself. The best thing she did was decide to take a short break to Bumblebee farm . It was also interesting seeing her friendship with her ex husband, it was refreshing to see a relationship break down but still remaining friends.
Poppy and Joel together were beautiful and they supported each other with the next steps in their lives. I can’t wait for what comes next.
Another wonderful installment in this series. It was lovely to revisit the characters at Bumblebee Barn, but don’t worry if you haven’t read the other books, it can be read as a standalone book. I really liked the main characters of Poppy and Joel and was rooting for them throughout. A nice heartwarming story.
This was a sweet and relatable read following Poppy and Joel, who each have a lot of heavy things to deal with. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone no problem. I loved the cameos from characters from other books though.
Poppy's devastated when her dad is diagnosed with dementia. She's persuaded to take a break and goes to Whisperwood Farmhouse where she keeps bumping into Joel. He has his own problems with the hours he works and trying to see his daughter Imogen
I've lived all of these and sorry they've finished. Love Jessica Redland books
Another lovely book from Jessica. It thoughtfully covers tricky topics such as dementia and co-parenting with some amazing characters and a great romance. A brilliant read.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was the final instalment of the honey bee Croft series and like all good things they sadly must come to an end. This story was that of Joel and poppy. But we also saw the return of characters from the previous books.
This could also be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the others in the series first for full enjoyment.
This was an emotional and heartbreaking and equally heartwarming read.
Look forward to seeing what new series this author brings out next.
I really enjoyed this book and it was nice to catch up with characters from previous books but you don't need to have read the authors earlier ones to appreciate this as it works fine as a standalone. Poppy and Joel are two people who have been in previous relationships and Joel has a young daughter from his. Besides a lovely romance, the story also covers bereavement, dementia and mental illness but it's written so well that it never becomes depressive or maudlin. There are usually one or two baddies in Jessica's books and I love seeing how this turns out. This book features one such male individual whose behaviour was very concerning. You will need to read the book to see if he got his come-uppance. All in all a very enjoyable story as are all those by this great author. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
A gorgeous new book that has some characters from previous books but it is easily read as a standalone! It's about two individuals Joel and Poppy as they are each independently having a hard time with different things that are happening in their lives. When they first meet sparks instantly fly but they are dealing with things that would break even the toughest of people. The question is can they overcome them and find happiness in each other? I immersed myself in the lives of Joel and Poppy and my heart broke for Poppy as she is dealing with her dad's dementia which is extremely hard on the person with the disease as well as their loved ones. I felt sorry for Joel too but my heart tore in two for his little girl Imogen as she deals with not seeing her dad as much as she'd like too. A romantic, emotional family drama filled with sadness, happiness and love. I think it's just a brilliant gem of a book!
One of my favourite authors! Another brilliant story. I love how characters from other books featured heavily in this one. Would definitely recommend!
As a huge Jessica fan I couldn't wait to go back for the final time to the Bumblee Bee/Hedgehog Hollow world to say a final hello. This is, as usual, a beautifully written book about family, loss, taking chances and following your dreams. Poppy's story is one that touched me on so many levels and I feel like I really connected to her on so many levels. It made me laugh, smile but also feel the highs and lows of Poppy's journey as she meets Joel and the rest of the gang in acts of kindness.
Joel's story, on the other hand, goes up another level with the situtation with Tilly (still don't like her) as well as hoping he'll get his happy ever after. I loved watching him growing as a person and to being to not to take any rubbish of Tilly. How, well I'm not going to spoil the book for you.
Jessica this is one of the best books I've ever read: funny, sad, moving, and I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to see where else you take us in 2025.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this book!!
I LOVED this book! It was a bit slow in the beginning but then boom I was hooked!! I finished it in one sitting! My first by this author but will not be my last!!
You can read this as a stand alone but it is lovely meeting old and new characters. It covers a delicate subject , dementia and you do get tears. Also co parenting is another subject. I did not like Tilly. Read it and you will understand why. Jessica must love learning new things. Bees this time. The friendship between Poppy and her x husband was lovely. There is so much you could say about this book. A very neat ending . Read it. I absolutely loved it.
A Forever Home at Honeybee Croft is part of a series by Jessica Redland. I have read the first book in the series and most of the "adjacent" series as well.
These are pure comfort reads for me. The characters are fairly well drawn and the endings are satisfying. There is a marvelous sense of place and it is wonderful to escape to this world (Yorkshire, it is Rural Yorkshire).
This particular entry stars a young woman who has had more than her fair share of tragedy, and a young man who has also not had an easy time of it. They both have their struggles, but they meet and fall in love through a set of happy coincidences. There are obstacles, but these feel real- and the stakes are high for both of them.
The only criticism is that the characters who are causing trouble are very unsympathetic and they do and say some terrible things. The redemption arc feels a little too easy for the baddies, but this is otherwise a lovely story that does exactly what it promises. Delivers an hour or two of lovely romantic escape.
Recommend (If you like this kind of thing)
This is a story of two people that are stressed out with their life and circumstances. There is a lot of angst. Separately Poppy and Joel are dealing with personal pain. Together they lift each other up. It was a heartfelt book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
