I liked how quirky and unique this novel was, but must admit if it had been any longer I would probably not have finished it. It’s definitely an interesting perspective on loneliness and feeling like an outsider, but I found it hard to empathise with our main character which really stopped me being to fully enjoy it. Great audio narration though!

Maggie Su decided to singlehandedly make sad girl litfic weird again, and how lucky we are that she did.

While I went in expecting something a tad outlandish, and a lot quirky, what was hiding behind all that was a story that was painfully earnest, raw, and so profoundly rooted in humanity that it was difficult to look away. BLOB is, well, indeed the story of a woman that finds a blob. But it is also a story about growing up and fitting in, about feeling like your edges are no better defined than those of a blob. It is, at its very core, a story about loneliness, and the amorphous shape of a human life.
