A good standard meal prep book that seems very helpful for people cooking meals for themselves for the week or cooking for a large family. I have not had the chance to try out the recipes but the format of the book is good and the pictures are nice.

Has some great simple recipes for novices like me, but others seemed a bit too much of a jump up - I may have needed more of the prep tips! It is well organised and easy to read

A really beautiful book with lots of lovely images of the recipes which I always prefer in a cookbook. The recipes are varied and look easy as well as tasty. A great book!

This could not have shown up at a better time. I was unhappy with my current assortment of meal planning aids and Easy Meal Prep has enabled me so far to prep three dinners. The recipes included are not fussy, difficult, or time-consuming. They could be a helpful introduction into planning healthy meals. Breakfasts, lunches, dinners, this book has it all.

"Easy Meal Prep" is an excellent resource for anyone looking to streamline their cooking routine. The book is clearly organised, making it approachable for beginners. It offers practical hints and tips to kickstart meal prepping, along with sample meal plans to follow or adapt. The included recipes are versatile and easy to mix and match, allowing readers to create personalised plans that suit their tastes and needs. A must-read for those seeking to save time and eat healthier!

I love any book that makes getting dinner on the table a little bit easier and this book fit the bill. Great ideas and achievable recipes.

Honestly, I wish I had this book before the holidays! It gave me some good ideas for what I can use for future meals, though. I cannot wait to make all of them! The possible meal prep schedules at the beginning was nice - lots of variety to choose from. The one critique I have is this - while the book had recipes that could be reheated later if needed, I would have liked to have more tips about maybe pre-cutting/pre-prepping items before the actual meals are made. There is some of that at the beginning of the book, but having tips sprinkled throughout the book would be nice.

A nice cookbook for a meal prep beginner. The advice is sound, if a bit repetitive. I would have liked a little more information on how to actually meal prep the recipes provided, instead of just the recipe, and the inclusion of nutritional information to help me make a more informed choice.

I thought this was a nice little healthy-ish cookbook with simple formatting and clean photos. I would have liked if it included nutrition facts and also some of the serving sizes seemed off (on what planet is three chicken thighs one serving?) but I did find a couple recipes I want to try.

As someone who struggles a lot with meal prep, I was really looking forward to the recipes in this book. But while some of them look like definite winners.. many of them left me feeling like the author missed the mark a little with "realistic" meal prep.
The intro pages had some definite "food blog" vibes, making it seem as though the author was just filling space in the book. The "Approved Food List" gave me an ick, especially seeing that the author is an unnamed nutrition coach, not a nutritionist or dietitian. There's a lot of privilege that goes into "approved" foods, and seeing a list like this made it hard to trust the author.
Finally, the number of fish-based dishes in this book was alarming, to say the least. I work in a shared office space, there is no way I would be caught dead reheating a fish dish in the microwave. That's a surefire way to make the office kitchen stink to high heaven for the rest of the day! While I love fish, I would save these recipes for in-the-moment meals rather than meal prepping them ahead of time.
All in all, I think this book has some fairly decent recipes... but I also think there are some better resources out there when it comes to meal prep.

Simple and to the point on how to prep & what you shall need. I prefer the recipes where on one page, very few had two pages which makes it easy to work off when cooking. Will be trying out a few of these items to give them a go and see what the taste is like.

The meal prep guide my ADHD brain never knew it needed! Highly recommend for anyone who struggles with consistently feeding themselves nutritious meals.

This book is helpful for anyone just starting to meal prep or looking for new ideas or recipes. There are a few different meal plans and the step-by-step directions are great if you’re like me and can’t quite get the sequence right. The recipes are simple to follow and most of the ingredients are kitchen staples or easy to find. Even if you don't plan on meal prepping the recipes are worth a look.

Loved the tips on prepping for multiple meals to reduce the hassle, great recipes and even had some sample plans for various dietary needs. I was hoping the plans would have been for more then 4 days and would have had less repetition. Overall a good book for getting started in meal prep.

3.5-4 stars
I thought this book was good but not great. It starts off strong with 5 steps for success with helpful tips and tricks like “shop on a full stomach.” These “tips” can be helpful for beginners. Now, I put tips in quotation marks because realistically they may not work for everyone, and they also seemed a bit self-explanatory.
The layout of the book made sense for my brain since I enjoyed that the beginning has helpful charts with options for meal plans that are gluten-free, high-protein, vegetarian, dairy-free, and even low carb. It then directs you to which page you can find the corresponding recipe. The recipes could also be used as a standalone rather than for the specific meal plans since they are organized by meal type or use (breakfast, mains, snacks and sides, dressings, dips, and sauces,).
If someone though has no dietary restrictions and is simply looking to eat healthier or just meal prep, it would be nice to have a less focused meal plan rather than needing to choose the specified diets.
One thing that struck me as I was reading was that realistically I could find all of this information online. In fact, the author is a nutritionist known for their Instagram page @foodprepprincess. However, it is definitely convenient to have it in a book and less overwhelming than searching on Pinterest or Instagram for a meal plan.
The recipes themselves are very simple which is great for beginners. I easily made the cheesy egg bites and thought they were a fun breakfast. However, the recipes are typical items like roast vegetables, crispy tofu, hummus, teriyaki salmon. There are only a few unique recipes like peanut butter brownies, tropical energy balls, and soba noodle stir fry. Also, not every recipe has a photo.
One thing that made me stop and really think about the book was Page 17 that has a “food prep princess approved food list” which is supposed to be helpful for planning grocery shopping. The word “approved” stuck out to me. Are there unapproved foods? I could just be being sensitive, but I think there are better words that could’ve been used that don’t connote the idea that readers should be restricted. Why not say “recommended foods,” or “food prep princess favourite items?"
Readers who are beginners with meal prep, looking for specified dietary meal plans, or fans of the authors social media would most likely enjoy the book.

Easy Meal Prep by Erin Romeo, a reprint of The Visual Guide to Easy Meal Prep, is a practical resource for anyone looking to simplify meal prepping. The book offers over 75 healthy recipes and five beginner-friendly meal prep plans, making it a great choice for those new to the process. The straightforward five-step system and helpful tips for food storage and organization stand out, as do the variety of recipes that cater to different dietary needs, including gluten-free and vegetarian.
However, those who already own The Visual Guide to Easy Meal Prep might find little new content in this reprint. While the recipes and plans are practical, the book could benefit from more photos of the finished dishes to enhance its visual appeal. Overall, it’s a solid resource for beginners, but it might not offer enough for more experienced meal preppers or those looking for fresh ideas.

A book full of super easy, simple, healthy recipes that also look delicious. It includes several very basic meal plans rotating through a handful of dishes (e.g. a high-protein plan -- it includes two breakfasts, four snacks, two lunches, and two dinners in rotation). The book also includes some basic guidelines / tips to get started pre-prepping food. There's nothing super innovative here necessarily (e.g. cheesy egg bites, overnight oats, baked salmon with paprika and lemon) but provides a range of options to get you going!

2.5 stars! Unfortunately, most of the recipes in this cookbook just weren't of interest to me. If you're looking to eat healthier and want some meal prep inspiration, this book could be a good fit for you. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review - pub day is 1/14/25!

I think this book has the right idea. It gives an overview of how to meal prep and quite a few recipes. I appreciated the tips on storing your meals. I gave it a four because I wanted more helpful tips. Also, a few more simple recipes or kid friendly recipes would have been nice. Overall, a good jumping off point for meal prep.
