I love this picture book series. I love reading short biographies about people through out history and current times. I think it was great learning about Patrick Mahomes. I think he sounds like a great football player and person all round.

2 years ago I have never even heard the name "Mahomes" but now I voluntarily read a children book about him and keeping up with Kansas City Chiefs games even though I still don't really understand about American football, less than a week before another Chiefs Superbowl too! It's clear that he's the best in his game and I get why he got so many admirers. What an icon and inspiration.

Another easy to read biography in the Little People Big Dreams series. The picture book outlines Patrick Mahomes’ life from growing up to his life today as a football player. The end includes a 2 page spreads with a timeline and more detailed biography. Easy to read biography for young readers. Recommended for ages 5-8

Was good to read this before the upcoming Super Bowl. A very cute look into Mahomes' life. Will be sharing with the football-loving kids in my life!

With thanks to the author, publishers Quarto Publishing Group, and NetGalley for providing me with a DRC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I’m not an NFL guy at all and knew nothing about Patrick Mahomes before reading this book, but felt that I got a pretty good overview of his life story in these few short pages.
Patrick was a good all-round sportman in his younger years, inspired by his pro-baseball player dad. Despite his parents marriage breaking up when he was still quite young, the support of his loving family helped him pursue all of his sporting passions before eventually choosing to focus on football. Through his hard work and dedication to the sport, he was able to get better and better before being drafted as the Kansas City Chief’s quarterback where he helped to transform the team, and eventually winning three super bowls.
It was not all positives for Patrick though; he and the Chief’s also experienced a major loss in the NFL Championship against the Buccaneers, but he and his teammates were able to learn from that loss and turn it into an inspiration for future performances and achievements.
His off the field achievements are equally inspiring, with him and his wife setting up the “15 and the Mahomies” charitable foundation for the betterment of children’s lives.
This book gives a positive message to young readers, that despite the inevitable challenges and setbacks that you will face, through hard work and believing in yourself it is possible to achieve your dreams.

Patrick Mahomes is a name that football fans everywhere recognize, and this *Little People, Big Dreams* book offers a wonderful introduction to his journey. Like others in the series, this book provides a brief but engaging look at Mahomes’ early years—starting with his baseball roots, inspired by his MLB player father—before highlighting his rise to NFL stardom. It carries an inspiring message that dreams can change over time, and what truly matters is the determination to follow them.
Even in his relatively short career, Mahomes has already broken records and made a lasting impact on the sport. At just 29 years old, he continues to impress, and many are eager to see what he will achieve next. Perfect for young readers, this book is a great pick for football fans and an excellent addition to any collection celebrating perseverance and success.

This book was so cute! Especially perfect after another Chief’s win. This book perfectly explains the history up to date of Patrick Mahomes, and I love the illustrations. Another win from Little People Big Dreams, and I can’t wait to add it to my collection.

Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara has written four children’s biographies that will be released in early 2025: Katherine Johnson, David Beckham, Patrick Mahones, and Yayoi Kusama. These books are part of the bestselling Little People, BIG DREAMS biography series for kids. Each book is 32 pages and beautifully illustrated. They are perfect for reading to small children during “quiet time”.
Patrick Mahomes is a legendary American football player who grew up dreaming about being a baseball player. Little Patrick grew up in Texas with a dad who was a famous baseball player. Patrick excelled at many sports, including baseball, basketball, and ping-pong, but he liked football the most. In college, he dedicated himself to building his skills and strength on the football field. His hard work paid off when he was drafted as the Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback. Two years later Patrick earned his first super bowl ring. Whether he wins or loses, Patrick knows that the most important thing as an athlete is being a good teammate and a strong leader. In addition, he is a dedicated husband, father, and founder of a charity.
This powerful book features quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the football player's life.
I received an Advance Review Copy (ARC) from NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

As a UK reader I had never even heard of this guy, so I went in completely blind.
As always it was a great read and it taught me facts about him that were simple to understand for myself, but would also be easy to understand for children too.
This set of books really are great and I always look out for the next installment.

As per these books are utterly fabulous!
I adore how Maria is able to engage with a younger audience

I just love reading these little book by Little People, BIG DREAMS, These book are a bestselling biography series for kids that explores the lives of outstanding people, from designers and artists to scientists and activists. All of them achieved incredible things, yet each began life as a child with a dream. So when Patrick Mahomes by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara came available I had to read this book with my nephew who also loves reading these colourful books.
Patrick Mahomes! The legendary American footballer and MVP who grew up dreaming of being a baseball player.
Little Patrick grew up in Texas. His dad was a legendary baseball player and he dreamt of following in his footsteps. As a child, he excelled at all sorts of from baseball to basketball to ping-pong, but it was American football which captured his heart. In college, he dedicated himself to building his skills and strength on the field. His hard work soon paid off when he was asked to join the Kansas City Chiefs. Just two years later he won his first super bowl ring! The next few years bought two more Superbowl victories as well as some losses. But whether he wins or loses, Patrick knows that the most important thing is being a good teammate and a strong leader.
Alongside his football career, he is a dedicated husband and father. He is passionate about improving the lives of children and through his foundation, 15 and the Mahomies, supports a range of charitable causes.
A sporting legend who is loved by all, Patrick’s achievements reflect his tenacity, drive and belief in himself.
This powerful book features quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the American footballer's life.
A wonderful read and great books for children to learn about famous people who may not be with us now, they should never be forgotten and for famous people who are still alive to learn about why they became famous etc.

“Patrick—the little boy who dreamed of pitching baseballs—became the world’s greatest quarterback. He proves that sometimes the most incredible victories come from the most unexpected dreams.”
Fans of American professional football know Patrick Mahomes as the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs. [Taylor Swift fans know the Kansas City Chiefs as the team of her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, but I digress. 😊]
He didn’t start out as a football fan, though. His dad was a professional baseball player, and Patrick went everywhere with him, learning about teamwork and fair play from the players.

“Little Patrick was a bouncy boy from Texas who seemed destined to play baseball. His father was a professional player, and Patrick never missed a game. He dreamed of following in his dad’s footsteps.”
He was a talented athlete and played lots of different sports. I know that many professional athletes have had to choose between two or more sports to concentrate on.
[My Goodreads review has an illustration.]
“Each sport gave him the chance to learn something new and become a better athlete.”
By the time he finished high school, he was sought after as both a baseball pitcher and a football quarterback. It was football that he really loved, and by his second year at Texas Tech, he wanted to turn professional. He left college for the Kansas City Chiefs.
[My Goodreads review has an illustration.]
“Patrick had to wait until the end of his first season to play. But in just two games, he showed that he should be the starting quarterback.”
He became the league’s Most Valuable Player and a couple of years later, led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl win in fifty years!
[My Goodreads review has an illustration.]
“They were the most formidable team, and Kansas City was bursting with pride!”
Patrick was sad when they lost the next year but knew there is always more to learn. By the time he later led them to their third Super Bowl win in five years, he was so famous he was a legend.
“His teammate in life is his wife, Brittany, an entrepreneur and former professional soccer player. Together, they are parents and business partners, having co-founded the women’s soccer
team Kansas City Current. ”
[My Goodreads review has an illustration.]
“Together, they help improve children’s lives through Patrick’s foundation: ‘15 and the Mahomies.’ “
As I write this, the Kansas City Chiefs are due to play in the 2025 Super Bowl on Feb 9, and I am sure there will be lots of fans cheering them on.
This would make a great little gift for a young fan or even an old one. As always in this collection, there are four black and white photos and a short written biography at the end.
Thanks to #NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for a copy of #PatrickMahomes for review.

🏈 As a Missouri girl, I couldn’t resist the chance to review this book about our favorite quarterback – Patrick Mahomes!
🏈 Like all “Little People, Big Dreams” books, this provides a brief overview of Mahomes’ childhood (he started out playing baseball like his MLB Dad) and highlights his accomplishments as an NFL star. The book emphasizes that our dreams can change over time (like Patrick’s shift from baseball to football), and that is perfectly okay. It is all about the determination to succeed that counts.
🏈 If you follow football, I’m sure you are at least aware of Mahomes and his impressive achievements in his relatively short (so far) NFL career. At just 29 years old (!), he has already broken numerous records and shows no signs of slowing down. I’m eager to see what more he can accomplish… and, of course, I’m cheering for another Super Bowl win!! We will find out soon enough!
🏈 This is a must-have book for Chiefs fans with children.
Thank you @netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for an eARC of this book, which I have read and reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.
I was a bit disappointed in this Little People big Dreams biography on Patrick Mahomes. I find the series usually introduces who the subject is and what he does, but this seems to just tell the reader what Patrick Mahomes does, not who he is.
I was disappointed

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy
I enjoyed this story because I have heard about Patrick Mahomes, but only knew a little bit about him. I think this book is perfect to gift to any young sports fan. I also enjoyed the illustrations in this book as well.

Being able to read this to my children, about our favorite quarterback in the NFL was great. The art was super cute and held their interest the entire time. GOOOOOOO CHIEFS.

This book was so great! It tells the backstory of Patrick Mahomes and how he became a household name as a football player. As an educator in Kansas City, books such as these are super popular in classroom libraries around the post-season when students are extra excited about the hometown team. The illustrations fit the story well. I would love to get a copy of this for my classroom when it is published.
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher, for the digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased, honest review of the book.

I absolutely love the Little People, Big Dreams collection, and Patrick Mahomes is another wonderful addition. This series does such a great job of introducing kids to inspiring people from all walks of life, and Patrick Mahomes is a perfect choice. The story is simple and easy for young readers to follow, showing how Mahomes worked hard to achieve his dreams and became a superstar on the football field.
What I especially admire about this collection is the diversity of people it highlights. From athletes to artists, the books showcase so many different role models, all with unique stories to tell. Patrick Mahomes teaches kids about perseverance, teamwork, and kindness—values they can carry with them in whatever they do.
The illustrations are bright and fun, and the message is one of empowerment, showing kids that they can achieve great things, just like Mahomes. I highly recommend this book, along with the entire Little People, Big Dreams series!

I love the Little People, Big Dreams Series for children. The information is accessible and engaging for a younger audience and the illustrations are interesting and vibrant. This book provides a surface level look at the accomplishments of Patrick Mahomes and how he worked toward attaining his childhood dreams. I would recommend this book for any young football fan.

This felt like a full circle book, particularly the final page “…and that is how…” felt like he was telling his own story to his son. A lovely, inspirational story which should motivate children to stick with their passion.
