I got quite lost in the format of the book. I wasn't sure what a large part of the illustrations were trying to convey in relation to the interview text. The text seems to be a sort of standard communication between kids, but the illustrations were indicating that anxiety is an issue before the text catches up. After that, the illustrations delve into details about the animals that relate back multiple pages and show inner thoughts that aren't really related to the story.
Strictly speaking, there are some factual issues with the book, referring to bullfrogs and terrapins as "sea animals in or near the eastern USA". There is also reference to shark and skate skeletons, with the caveat of it being made of cartilage. Not all sharks are live birth either.
Overall, this seems like a pretty low effort publication that presents false information as fact.

I found the format of this a bit confusing/overwhelming, especially for a child. The illustrations, inclusion of vocabulary words and presentation of the storyline were great.

I think this book would be a fantastic resource for kids. You get to learn about aquariums and different animals you would see while visiting one. You get to experience interviewing someone. There's a great section on writing reports and using graphs to talk about what you learn. There's an explanation on how to handle your feelings of fear or overwhelm in certain situations. There are also lots of questions and references to get kids thinking about what they read or what they've experienced in their own lives.

I was very excited to see a neurodiverse children's book for this reading level! The fact that it was about animals was a bonus, since that is a very common special interest.
I found the animal illustrations to be very well done, accurate to life, and informative. I noticed this especially in the second section of the book, where the bulk of the animal facts were. I felt like the human character illustrations could be a little less stiff, but they still worked well for illustrating the story in a way that would engage readers.
Overall, I definitely think this could be a good addition to bring neurodiverse representation alongside some informative and engaging animals facts

Very nice, because it combines information about some of the fish and amphibians that can be found in aquariums with how to deal with emotions if they become too overwhelming.
Molto carino, perché unisce le informazioni su alcuni pesci ed anfibi che si possono trovare negli acquari, a come gestire le emozioni se queste diventano troppo pressanti.
I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.

Honestly I couldn't get past the formatting of this book. It was giving me flashbacks to 90's and early 2000's educational games. The mix of dialogue happening between the narrators/characters happening within a comic panel and on the top of the page with avatar pictures next to it, makes it harder to follow.

As a children's librarian, I highly recommend this wonderful children's novel. It offers a captivating storyline and serves as an excellent tool for learning. Not only does the book provide fascinating facts and information about sea life, but it also teaches young readers how to effectively present facts and report on them. I especially appreciate the diverse representation throughout the book, which adds depth and inclusivity to the story. This unique blend of education and entertainment will surely help young readers improve their writing and reporting skills, while also broadening their understanding of the world around them.

I loved reading this book it's very educational about Aquariums and sea life. It goes into detail about 5 different animals and the main character does research on them. I definitely recommend this for young children.

This has a really interesting interview format that my kids thought was fun. They liked learning about all of the different sea creatures at the aquarium.

This is a children’s non-fiction book focused on an adventure at an aquarium. It has chapter previews at the beginning of each chapter with keywords, pause and think ahead, and other interesting information. Each chapter ends with a pause and think back section. The writing and graphics are simple and interesting for children.

This book.was very informative and provides lots of facts in an accessible way about various aquarium life. However, I found the layout of the book with the first child doing an interview, then another doing research, etc, a little forced and distracting from the information the book gives.

I live near the Chicago aquarium and really appreciate this teaching tool. It presents in three sections, each telling a story about a visit to an aquarium and covers a variety of topics related to aquatic animals, including reptiles, their habitats, and life cycles. Well done!
The illustrations by Mariana Boune are meaningful/educational, intricate, colorful, and FUN!
Well suited for reading WITH someone any age from 7 - 11 and up, especially ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a temporary uncorrected eGalley on Adobe Digital Editions from Developmental Texts | Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles via NetGalley. Thank you!

The Big Aquarium Adventure reads as a level 2 picture book. It has great visuals, but the plot is more geared to emotional regulation than science, as two older boys talk about fear of participating in the petting skate exhibit. This can be a good reference resource for emotional regulation of older students who are also low level readers.

This book is structured in three sections, each telling a story about a visit to an aquarium. The illustrations feature thought bubbles, giving readers insight into the characters' thoughts as they work or interact with others.
Ideal for a science curriculum, the book covers a variety of topics related to aquatic animals, including reptiles, their habitats, and life cycles. Specific focus is given to turtles and frogs.
Each section begins and ends with reflection questions, encouraging readers to engage with the material. The title incorporates literacy elements, and prompts and recall questions at the back of the book help reinforce learning. This makes it a great resource for facilitating lesson planning.
Additionally, the book includes graphic organizer activities and numeracy prompts, making it a versatile tool for educators. It also offers calming activities, promoting a balanced and focused approach to learning.

This book was a cute story and I would highly recommend as a classroom resource! The style and layout of the book is appealing to kids, with a mix of illustrations and realistic photos of the sea creatures. The book is divided into separate conversational sections, with engaging learning activities in between. Overall, this was a wonderful read for my child, especially considering we are along the Gulf Coast!

This was a really cute graphic novel. I enjoyed reading it and seeing the amazing artwork. My library will definitely be purchasing this for our colleciton.

This was a great children’s book and the cover caught my eye. I thought it was great that it had facts about sea life and it was cute that it was about an aquarium.
This would be a great classroom read.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and Developmental Texts for the ebook.

I LET MY SIX YEAR OLD READ THIS ONE AND SHE GIVES IT FOUR STARS. She loves all things aquarium related and specifically loves the Baltimore one so this was right up her alley! Thank you NetGalley, for starting her on ARCs at a young age. :)

This is a great book for late elementary/early middle schoolers of how to write a story. The story itself is really interesting, sharing many facts about animals. There is an interactive portion which asks readers about their own experiences with aquariums and sealife.

If I am perfectly honest with you, I did not like the delivery of this book and I didn't find it to be interesting. I am, however, 33 years old. My 6 year old saw and snatched it out of my hands and has not put it down. He excitedly showed me Stephen's frog.
He is not the kind of kid who snatched things, either so this was a big deal!
He says he loves the art and the characters, he likes Stephen the most and feels like he relates to him the most.
