(I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)
I am missing. Held captive by a blue-eyed stranger. To mark the twelve days of Christmas, he gives me a gift every day, each more horrible than the last. The twelfth day is getting closer. After that, there’ll be no more Christmas cheer for me. No mince pies, no carols. No way out …
But I have a secret. No-one has guessed it. Will you?

Didn't really connect with this book. It certainly felt like it was written by two different people - the first half was dedicated to the kidnapping of Jessica, while the second half was more about the investigation of the crime. And they couldn't have been more different in style and storytelling. It was like someone who has written numerous successful thrillers said "Here, let me tee up the story for you and then, in the second part, you just finish it off..."
For me, getting invested in the first part of the book - and there was quite a bit to draw you in - to only be let down by over-the-top "twists" that just defy logic and then, to make matters worse, the writing style seemed to change (for the worse.) I don't know if the author is just better at writing suspense than investigations cos the whole part with Kim was just dire.
Could have been a lot better, let's just leave it at that...

I have had this book on my to be read pile for far too long as the word Christmas in the title made me leave it until around the festive season, thinking it would be best enjoyed then. Oh I was wrong, this book is perfect to enjoy at any time of the year! Although if you are looking for a book to keep you company whilst you wait for Santa this would be great as I literally couldn't put it down, and spent most of the night up reading!
The book has a dark and twisted plot and is a real psychological thriller that is brilliantly written. It centres around a woman who has gone missing in the lead up to christmas. We follow each day as the clock ticks towards her death at the hands of a twisted stranger. I loved how each day the level of intensity and desperation rose. The scenes so well described that I could visualise what was happening, and could sense the atmosphere, sights sounds etc.
I usually hate it when a book is described as having a 'twist' as it is usually an anti climax. Lets just say this warrants the description! This was a great thrilling, gripping and absorbing book and I can't wait to read more of her work.

I have enjoyed previous Tammy Cohen books- she writes great psychological thrillers. This one is about an abduction and the investigation by Kim. It's really chilling- full of twists and turns, with very 'twisted' detail.
Jessica is abducted by a charming, attractive man called Dominic who she meets in a busy cafe. He gives her presents each day of her abduction as in The 12 days of Christmas- which give her insight into Dominic and the horrifying realisation that he isn't intending to let her go.
The investigation is also thrilling and I couldn't wait to read every page.
