4.5 stars - I have read every one of T. M Logan's books and this is one of his best yet. Lauren turns up at the end of the first university term to collect her daughter and finds out she isn't there anymore, and hasn't been for a while. What I like about T.M. Logan's books is that he knows how to unwind a riveting plotline, slow enough that you are anxious to know what is happening but quick enough to keep you engaged. This one had quite a few twists that I didn't see coming and I enjoyed the ending. I also really liked how most of this one is set in and around London (most of his books have been based in North England) so I had a better sense for lots of the places in the book. Overall, a really great read that I sped through in about 24 hours and would definitely recommend.
As with all his books this is a fast paced thriller which kept me gripped. I read it in a day and loved it.
I definitely did not see the twist coming either. Looking forward to his next book already.
Lauren is excited to pick her daughter, Evie, up from university, having not seen her for a while. Only when she knocks on her daughter’s door a stranger answers and says he doesn’t know Evie. Soon Lauren learns that she hasn’t been there for weeks, so where could she be?
I always love a T.M. Logan thriller so when I saw The Daughter I knew I had to read it immediately. This one certainly lives up to expectations! Even though I have read a number of missing person thrillers, this one had me hooked straight away and had a unique spin on this trope. The author shows us how a thriller should be written by being packed full of suspense, cliff hangers and red herrings, while slowly introducing new clues to help solve the mystery.
The character’s are well written and it is easy to get a sense of how they are feeling and their terror. I especially enjoyed Lucas as a character. The book is fast paced through out and I had a constant sense of unease. I never found myself bored and really enjoyed all the little twists and turns that built up the mystery, while keeping up the suspense.
I had to force myself to stop reading at one point as I knew I had to sleep but the irony was that I couldn’t sleep as I could not stop thinking about the story, while also trying to decipher the puzzle. Even though I guessed some idea of where the story was going, this did not detract from my overall enjoyment and there were some surprising moments.
I would sum this up as a compelling, gripping thriller, which could be terrifyingly real. Just make sure you have nothing else on the day you pick this up as you won’t be able to put this down. 4.5 stars rounded up. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.
My thanks to Bonnier Books and NetGalley for for a copy of “ The Daughter “ for an honest review.
I got an early Christmas present this year when I was given the chance to read , and give my opinion on , this latest book by T M Logan , one of my favourite authors..
I regularly recommend his books when asked for suggestions for a good thriller, and have had very positive feedback from this.
His work is consistently excellent , well written and suspenseful, and his characters are well written and believable.
I really struggled to put this book down as I got so absorbed in it and I read it in two sittings.
Very highly recommended and can’t wait for his next release !
Amazing! Great read! Captivates you from the start. Exciting storyline! I have read most of T.M Logan's books and this is a great addition.
When Lauren arrives to pick up Evie from Uni and finds she isn't there , Lauren sets out to find her... But where is she and what has happened to her..
This is a qucik pacy read with twists and turns that satisfied me as a reader.
It is an edgy read and Laurens turmoil and distress can be felt by the reader. I actually held my breath at times..
I loved this book the author is a favourite of mine and never disappoints
A fast paced read and even though I had an idea vaguely what happened to Evie, it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the story, this is my first time reading anything by this author and it was a good one to start with.
I’ve loved everything I’ve ever read by T M Logan but this has to be one of my favourites! Another absolute masterpiece that will have you on the edge of your seat to the very end! A rollercoaster of twists and turns that will leave you speechless!
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publishers for my ARC
Yes yes yes, Mr Logan stand up and take a bow. This is a phenomenal masterpiece that I have LOVED! The Daughter is a cancel all plans and devour kinda book.
This is a brilliant read from the beginning. The twists just keep on coming and I lost count of how many times I became speechless.
We meet Lauren, mum of two who is picking up her daughter from uni for the holidays. Only, Evie isn’t there and we follow Lauren on a dark journey to bring her daughter home. That is, if she can find her- Evie’s phone is not in use, emails bounce back.
My heart has raced, my pulse pounded and Logan had me so caught up in this that the world could’ve crumbled around me. I was captivated and had no clue how this was going to unfold.
I loved every moment of this book. It was unpredictable, gripping and a complete masterpiece. I’ve read many books by Logan and they get better and better. This is definitely my favourite to date.
This is exciting and utterly compelling. Logan has created a book that is action packed, perfectly paced and unlike any in the genre I’ve read previously.
This was completely engrossing and addictive. The Daughter is definitely a DEAR (drop everything and read) book. This is one of those books that is worthy of all the praise and recognition. It’s a book that should be on everyone’s TBR.
This is a must for the TBR. I’ll be recommending this to anyone and everyone who will listen.
I wasn't really sure how this storyline was going to progress and was convinced early on that it would be limited and linear, but I was pleased to be wrong! The plot goes off into different and unexpected directions and I ended up being gripped. Really enjoyed, would definitely recommend.
I’ve enjoyed all of TM Logan’s books but for me this was definitely one of the best. I found myself engrossed as Lauren went to collect her daughter Evie from university only she had left some time previously and her phone and email stopped working the same day Lauren realised Evie was missing. I was amazed at the different twists and turns that I covered and Lauren started looking into her daughter’s life for any clues to help find her. I thought her son Lucas was really strong addition as he helped her search and things got more and more desperate the closer Lauren got to the truth. Although some elements were extreme it still retained believability and became an incredibly tense read. Idud feel the ending was a little rushed but otherwise it was a very strong thriller which had me hooked until the end.
I was so excited to read this book as TM Logan is one of my favourite writers. I didn't really the plot & found the storyline to ge slightly weak. I guessed yhr twist during the novel & found it to be predictable. It was a good read just not as amazing as his usual work.
Another edge of your seat thriller from TM Logan. When Lauren turns up at her daughter Evie’s university at the end of the first term, she’s looking forward to spending time with Evie and her little brother, catching up on all that they’ve missed.
But when she gets there, Evie isn’t anywhere to be found; dropped out of university without telling Lauren and her phone number is ringing out.
As Lauren desperately searches for any clues as to where she might be, the drama ramps up, with twists and turns at every step.
Terrifying and all too plausible.
Love everything written by T M Logan but this was the best so far!
An action packed heart pounding drama.
A mother put in a terrible situation when her daughter goes missing with initially no help from anyone.
As the story moves on i changed my mind frequently about what had happened and the twists kept coming.
I read over the course of a day and night and my only disappointment was finishing!
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
This is one not to be missed.
T.M. Logan does it again with yet another incredible domestic thriller! You will devour this book overnight like I did!
Another brilliant and gripping thriller from T. M. Logan, this was tense and exciting and full of shocking twists and turns. I loved it!
Yet again T.M Logan has me gripped from start to finish.
Going into this I didnt read the synopsis beforehand. Trusting the author to give me the information needed throughout the book.
I have multiple theories throughout, yet I was still surprised by some twists.
The pacing worked really well here. With constant action and new information to keep you want to carry on.
Clear your diary before you start to read this book because you won't be able to put it down. I was gripped from the first page of this fast paced thriller. Lauren's daughter Evie has gone missing from university so Lauren and her young son travel across London to try to find her. Lots of twists along the way make this a compelling read. T. M. Logan's books just seem to get better. Highly recommended for readers of the mystery/thriller genre.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an arc in exchange for an unbiased review.
By far, my favorite book by this author. Lauren shows up at her daughter dorm room to take her home for the holidays. A strange boy opens her door. Lauren is off to figure out what happened to her daughter. Her phone doesn’t work. She hasn’t talked to her and she has no idea why she would leave. Clues add up and Lauren finds herself face to face with her past on a recent save her daughter. Great book! Lots of twists I never saw coming. Read this in one day because I could not put it down!
Another solid thriller from TM Logan, The Daughter starts with an immediately gripping scene. Lauren is going to pick her daughter Evie up from university; they've had a bit of a rocky relationship recently, and she's not had a lot of contact with Evie during her first term, but she hopes they'll be able to patch things up over Christmas. However, when she arrives at Evie's room in halls, a stranger answers the door, claiming that they have no idea who Evie is. What has happened to Lauren's daughter? The authorities aren't interested - Evie is an adult - so Lauren and her twelve-year-old son, Lucas, start to search for Evie themselves. This didn't unfold quite as originally as I had hoped, but Logan is definitely back on form after the slow The Dream Home. The story ticks along nicely, and I particularly liked the relationship between Lauren and Lucas and how they work together to track down Evie. I'd place this alongside other middle-tier Logans like The Curfew, The Mother and The Catch, and it will satisfy his fans.
