The Daughter by T.M Logan
I’ve read quite a few booksby T M Logan but this has to be one of my favourites !
Another absolute masterpiece that will have you on the edge of your seat to the very end !
A title of many twists and turns that will leave you looking forward to his next book.

This is my fourth T M Logan novel and he's done it again. It's a clever, engaging mystery thriller with twists and turns that draws you in and keeps you reading. Mr Logan is a master at this stuff.

I find TM Logan books to be a bit of a hit or a miss and unfortunately this one was a miss. Lauren is a woman in her mid - late 30s who goes to collect her daughter Evie from university for Christmas break. She has been in contact with Evie throughout the first term so she's especially shocked to find that she isn't in her dorm room and has dropped out of university entirely. Her and her preteen son then try and figure out if she's been taken or run away. This book is so unbelievable its just really distracting. There are some decent ideas but the writing isn't very gripping and the story is too chaotic and unbelievable.

I LOVE T.M Logan thrillers and when I saw this I knew i couldn’t miss
This is just.. wow. Didn’t see the twists coming and kept me hooked.

So incredibly good. I’ve enjoyed all the previous books by this author so I’m not surprised, it certainly didn’t disappoint.
I read his one in a day, luckily a day when not too much else gets in the way because the storyline was seriously fast, compelling and not one to put down for too long at a time. The premise drew me in straight away and was a bit too real an terrifying, seeing as I have a similarly aged daughter who may well choose to go off to uni in the not so far off future. It’s terrifying enough having a child fly the nest to be lost to uni but then to actually vanish and be properly lost in next level real life terror. That’s probably the best part of the writing- the just out of reach but plausibility and the sinking depths of a criminal underworld which draws you in but won’t let you go. Honestly sublime writing and not one to be missed. Next please!

So lauren goes to pick her daughter up from uni and she isn't there, hasn't been for weeks. What comes next is twists and turns galore many I did not see coming! The only thing for me was I found her brother to be quite unbelievable, he acted so much older than 12 and I don't think that any mother would put a 12 year old boy through what she did, anyway first book I've read by tm logan and definitely won't be the last.
Thank you

Lauren goes to pick up her daughter from her first term of university. She knocks on the door of her room in halls and is told she does not live there….
Well this got me hooked from the start! Lauren is a super mum and takes on everything thrown at her to find her daughter. It really made me think and it is staggering to know the extortion used against the young women is this story.
A gripping read!

Awesome.
T.M. Logan’s The Daughter is a pulse-pounding psychological thriller that dives into every parent’s worst nightmare: the disappearance of a child. With its razor-sharp tension and gut-wrenching twists, this novel is a masterclass in suspense, keeping readers hooked until the final page. The novel examines trust, the fragility of familial bonds, and the lengths a mother will go to protect her child. It also questions how well we truly know the people we love. The Daughter is a heart-stopping thriller that perfectly captures the fear and urgency of a mother’s search for her missing child. T.M. Logan’s talent for crafting suspenseful, emotionally charged narratives shines through, making this a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers. An unputdownable page-turner that keeps you guessing and leaves you questioning how far you would go for the ones you love.
I loved it.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK Zaffre for giving me an advance copy.

Wow what can I say another grilling read from this author which hooked me in from the first page and grabbed my attention. It was fully of mystery and suspense and twists and turns at every turn of the page.
A fast paced gripping thriller that would make a great tv adaptation.
Look forward to reading what this author brings out next.

Wow, this was a super fast paced thrilling read full of twists! I've never read a T. M. Logan book before, but this type of mystery thriller is one of my favourite genres - ever since the Gone Girl hype many years ago, I'm always searching for one that blows my head off in the same way and is just as gripping.
Lauren is a single mum with daughter in her first term at uni and preteen son at school. The book opens with her heading to collect her daughter from her halls after not seeing her during her entire first term, but when she knocks on her door, an unfamiliar boy answers saying he knows nothing about her daughter, Evie. Campus security do what they can, and police are little help, so Lauren sets off on a journey of her own to figure out exactly where her daughter has gone. But as you might expect, it's not at all straight forward and becomes far more deadly and dangerous than a normal mum might ever imagine.
From the very first chapter, I was addicted to this story. I read it in two nights, finishing it at midnight on the second night as I realised I couldn't put it down when I was so close to the big reveal. The big reveal, however, was definitely not what I was expecting - it was one of those "I can't believe I didn't consider that option!" moments where I'm annoyed at myself for not figuring it all out, but also so pleased that the author pulled the wool over my eyes as it makes for such an enjoyable read.
The characters were great - very realistic and easy to understand their motivations, no matter how sometimes twisted they were. I liked how there were a few chapters from Evie's point of view back in time interspersed throughout the novel to give a little more context to the background but without revealing too much too soon.
I wouldn't put this among my favourites this year, but I really enjoyed the ride and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an advance copy of this book.

Lauren is excited to pick her daughter Evie from her first term at university studying law. When she gets to her daughter’s hall room a stranger answers her door and claims to have no knowledge of Evie. Lauren thinks she must have the wrong room or hall but soon discovers that Evie’s not at the university, she’s not been there for weeks and withdrew from her course weeks ago. With the police uninterested in looking for an adult that has left university of their own free will Lauren embarks on a horrifying nightmare to find her daughter.
Fab book that had me hooked from the start. A real page turner that I could never have worked out the plot at the start! Great read and I’ll be looking out for some more T M Logan books. Thanks to Netgalley for the arc. Publishing in 2025.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bonner Books for the ARC of this book.
I am sorry but I really didn't like this book at all. The story started well and felt sorry for Mum as I can imagine how she felt having been a single parent with a daughter at university but the story deteriorated from there for me. It just became rather far fetched for me and it got worse and worse to the extent of being totally over the top. The only really likeable character was the brother Lucas who I felt rather sorry for as he seemed to be somewhat forgotten about.
I normally love T.M. Logan books but this one was definitely a no no.

TM Logan is one of my favourite authors and loke his previous books this one didn't disappoint. The main character is Lauren whose daughter Evie disappears from university. Lots of intrigue and suspense which makes it an exciting read.

T.M. Logan once again delivers a masterclass in psychological thrillers with this gripping and fast-paced novel. The story begins with single mother Lauren arriving at university to collect her daughter, Evie, after her first term—only to discover Evie hasn’t been attending for months. Shocked and desperate, Lauren and her son, Lucas, follow a trail of clues that plunges them into a dangerous web of lies, secrets, and criminality. As the past and present collide, Lauren must rely on an unexpected ally to uncover the truth and reunite her fractured family.
From the first few pages, this book hooks you with its suspenseful narrative and compelling twists. The story alternates between timelines and perspectives, keeping the reader fully immersed in the mystery of Evie’s disappearance. The characters are relatable and deeply human, evoking genuine empathy as they navigate their perilous journey.
Logan’s expert pacing and intricate plotting make this novel a standout, filled with tension and surprises at every turn. An unputdownable thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end!

Absolutely love TM Logan’s books and this one didn’t disappoint. Fast paced, gritty with twists and turns! Can always see his books perfect for the tv! Loved it!

Rating: 4.2/5
I have to confess that my experiences of Tim Logan's first few books ended in varying degrees of disappointment. I found that they either flattered to deceive, or else they simply didn't live up to the amount of hype surrounding them. All of that changed when I read his excellent 2022 offering, "The Curfew" and subsequently the equally impressive, "The Mother". His two offerings since then (including this one) have just added further to my growing admiration for this author's work.
Often, the most disturbing thrillers are those where the reader is able to imagine events potentially happening in real life - and there are aspects of "The Daughter" that tick that box. I have to confess that I found the opening sections quite stomach churning as I envisaged myself confronted by the kind of scenario facing Lauren Wingfield. Lauren arrives on the university campus expecting to collect her daughter, Evie, only to find that she isn't there and nobody seems to know where she has gone. How can that be?
In the chapters immediately following this riveting scene-setting opening, I did feel that the pace drifted a little. Although the actions taken by Lauren were logical - or at least understandable - it didn't make for particularly gripping reading. Thankfully, however, this was only a temporary and comparatively brief dip. For the remainder of this suspenseful thriller Tim Logan's storytelling is pretty much on the money. There are no further lulls, but at the same time, the narrative is not so rushed that it gets in the way of allowing palpable tension to develop, evolving ultimately into a taut actioner.
There are a couple of times when the reader will have to allow the author some dramatic licence, but Tim Logan keeps it with the bounds of fictional acceptability. Experienced readers of the genre may also correctly predict some of the plot twists, but that doesn't detract from the fact that the reading process remains an enjoyable and entertaining one. All in all, this is an impressive thrtiller and there is no question that I will be returning for the next one from Tim Logan.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for supplying an ARC in return for an honest review.

Absolutely brilliant book!
I am a big fan of this author and love the writing style!
I cant wait to read more!

I love TM Logan's books and this was another great one. I didn't want to put it down and, as always, it kept me guessing until the end!

T M Logan does it again, another 2am before I put the book down and all the jobs I had lined up to do yesterday abandoned. Impossible to put down once you start and a joy to read, thrilling, absorbing and a great ending with a few twists on the way. Just brilliant!
Thank you to the author, publishers and Netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review

With thanks to NetGalley and Zaffre for the advanced copy!
TM Logan does it again, with a masterfully written binge worthy thriller.
Telling the story of a mother’s journey to find her daughter, the pace is perfect - as the truth around Evie’s disappearance begins to unravel. The storyline is compelling and explores contemporary real-world issues.
It’s action packed, twisty and addictive.
I’ve read a few TM Logan books now and they just seem to get better and better!
This was so easy to pick up and I read it in a couple of sittings.
