By far, my favorite book by this author. Lauren shows up at her daughter dorm room to take her home for the holidays. A strange boy opens her door. Lauren is off to figure out what happened to her daughter. Her phone doesn’t work. She hasn’t talked to her and she has no idea why she would leave. Clues add up and Lauren finds herself face to face with her past on a recent save her daughter. Great book! Lots of twists I never saw coming. Read this in one day because I could not put it down!

Another solid thriller from TM Logan, The Daughter starts with an immediately gripping scene. Lauren is going to pick her daughter Evie up from university; they've had a bit of a rocky relationship recently, and she's not had a lot of contact with Evie during her first term, but she hopes they'll be able to patch things up over Christmas. However, when she arrives at Evie's room in halls, a stranger answers the door, claiming that they have no idea who Evie is. What has happened to Lauren's daughter? The authorities aren't interested - Evie is an adult - so Lauren and her twelve-year-old son, Lucas, start to search for Evie themselves. This didn't unfold quite as originally as I had hoped, but Logan is definitely back on form after the slow The Dream Home. The story ticks along nicely, and I particularly liked the relationship between Lauren and Lucas and how they work together to track down Evie. I'd place this alongside other middle-tier Logans like The Curfew, The Mother and The Catch, and it will satisfy his fans.

I’ve read all of T.M Logan’s novels and feel that they are getting better and better.
The Daughter is a fast paced and twisty thriller that begins when Lauren goes to collect her daughter Evie from her university halls of residence at the end of her first term. When Lauren arrives she discovers a stranger in Evie’s room, no one can remember her and the university tells her that Evie left her course weeks ago. Lauren and her son Lucas begin their search for Evie and this narrative is interspersed with Evie’s story.
I absolutely loved this gripping and compelling thriller and raced through it over the course of 24 hours. Most of the novel focuses on the search for Evie but Evie’s point of view also gives the reader hints into what has happened. I loved the relationship between Lauren and her son Lucas and as a parent of a young person could relate to Lauren’s fear and confusion when she arrived at the university to find no trace of her daughter.
An excellent well paced thriller. Recommended.

When Lauren goes to collect her daughter from University, she finds that she is not there. In fact, Evie left weeks ago but where did she go? Scouring London and the Home Counties, Lauren is soon in a race against time to find Evie.

Wow. This book is incredible. From the first chapter, I was hooked. I stayed up past midnight to finish this (which, for me, is a great testament as I’m usually in bed by 9pm!) The story is well written – it has a great fast-paced narrative and relatable characters.

Lauren is a single mum with two teenage children. As a mother of “tweens” and reflecting on my own teenage years, I found the relationship between Lauren, Evie and Lucas an accurate portrayal of motherhood in these later years. There’s a scene where, in anger, Lucas tells Lauren that she has been pushy with Evie’s studies and career goals and this causes Lauren to reflect because she hadn’t seen her behaviour in that light. I thought that was such a good reflection of how, as a mother, we want the best for our children but don’t always get it across in the right way.

The story itself is fast paced and while it is obvious who is behind Evie’s disappearance, the “why?” and the “where is she?” kept me on the edge of my seat. I find with a lot of thrillers, the struggle to find/track people is quite unbelievable because you can find information about anyone on the internet fairly easily. I don’t know if it’s the lawyer in me but I often find myself thinking “that information is readily available on Google and Companies House!”. I was so glad to see references to these in this book and felt it added to the plausibility of the story.

The book also shows the negative side of social media and the impact that misinformation and “trolls” have on families affected by stories that we may see on these sites. The way that both Lucas and Lauren react to and view social media is again, an accurate portrayal of modern family life.

The fast paced narrative, the relatable characters and the plausibility of the story all make this a great read. I gave this story 5 stars and would highly recommend it to any thriller-lovers. I’m so thankful to NetGalley, Bonnier Books UK and T.M. Logan for the chance to read this in advance of its release.

A good easy read. This is a compliment.
I was feeling the same way about this one, until the book took turn after turn after turn I didnt see coming.
It was a one sit read for me, and very entertaining.
I think its his best yet.
