I make no secret of the fact that I am a huge fan of this author's books. I have read and enjoyed every single one and this, his latest, is no exception...
We start with Lauren who is on her way to collect her daughter Evie from university for the holidays. She arrives outside her door but is confused when her knock is answered by a male stranger who claims it is his room. Lauren checks the message where Evie told her where she was staying, but she is in the right place. So... where is Evie? Long story short and Lauren finds out that Evie is no longer studying at the uni, she also changed her emergency contact details to exclude her mum, something Lauren just can't understand given their relationship. So... where is she? And, more importantly, is she safe?
I loved this book. I whizzed through it in pretty much one sitting, only putting it down cos, you know, life! But I needed resolution. I had to know what was happening. It was that gripping.
As per all this author's books, it was everything I needed to make a good book a great read. Pacing matched the narrative all the way through and, without any unnecessary waffle or padding the story got on with itself very well indeed. Characterisation was top notch and it was easy to connect to pretty much all of them in one way or other. Especially Lucas although I am not 100% sold on the idea that Lauren would have dragged him along for what could have been a potentially dangerous ride...
And the story, as already mentioned, was gripping and held my attention nicely all the way through, spitting me out at the end exhausted but also wholly satisfied.
All in all, another cracking addition to and already well impressive back catalogue. Roll on next time. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Lauren heads to her daughter’s university, excited to pick Evie up for Christmas after ten long weeks apart. But when she arrives at Evie’s dorm, a stranger answers the door - someone who claims they’ve never even heard of her daughter.

Confused but convinced it must be a mix-up, Lauren checks and rechecks the details before turning to university admin for answers. Surely, Evie just changed rooms? But as the pieces refuse to fit, it becomes chillingly clear - Evie isn’t there. And she hasn’t been for some time. What follows is a desperate race against time to find her before the unthinkable happens.

This book gripped me from page one and never let up. The short, sharp chapters are packed with tension - I even caught myself skipping ahead to the last line of a page because I had to know what was coming next. I NEVER do that!

Told primarily from Lauren’s perspective, her fear and desperation are so vividly portrayed that they become almost unbearable. You feel her urgency, her dread, her unwavering determination to protect her daughter at all costs.

The characters are exceptionally well written - distinct, authentic, and compelling. I was rooting for Lauren every step of the way, just as much as I was hoping karma would catch up with the bad guys. Lauren is fierce, relentless, and exactly the kind of mother you’d want in your corner.

And that final twist? Oooft. Tim, you absolute rotter. I did NOT see that coming. Bravo.

If you love a tense, twisty, fast-paced thriller, this one needs to be on your list!

A huge thanks to Zaffre, NetGalley, and TM Logan for the advanced copy - all opinions are my own.

Rating - 3.5⭐️

Imagine going to collect your daughter from university, to bring her back for Christmas, only to find out she has disappeared me out a trace? The police won’t help, so you take matters into your own hands. How far will you go to find your daughter?

I really enjoyed this book, fast paced with multiple twists I did not see coming! We have a dual POV and timeline as we go between the mum in present to the daughter in past tense. The short chapters were a win and the multiple different aspects of this book kept you guessing until the end. I did find at times the book to feel a bit slower and felt very stagnant. I will be reading more form T M Logan!

Lauren can't wait to see her daughter again, to pick her up from university at the end of her first term. But when she arrives at her hall and knocks on the door to her room, a stranger opens it. At first, Lauren thinks she must have the wrong room, or the wrong floor. Maybe even the wrong building. But she soon realises the truth: Evie's not there. She hasn't been there for weeks. So where is she?

TM Logan is an auto-buy, must-read author for me and I eagerly await every book, and this ninth title definitely doesn’t disappoint! I devoured this book in one sitting, I literally couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened!

The premise of this book has your intrigue right from the start, Lauren’s excitement about her daughter coming home from uni clearly evident, the excitement turning to panic and then fear, the story unfolding in ways you could never expect. The twists are exemplary, as expected from Tim, and the suspense and tension builds throughout, honestly those pages turn themselves as you decipher the clues, another addictive read.

I feel a little bad that Tim spends so long perfectly curating these book ideas and putting pen to paper, only for us readers to be so transfixed that we finish it in just a day! However this proves just how captivating his books are and am sure that can be nothing but a huge compliment. Needless to say, massively recommend this book, go and pick up a copy today!

A fast paced thriller full of lots of twists and turns I really didn’t know where it was heading. It grabbed from the first page right through to the last I literally could not put it down. This is a must read.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

I have enjoyed this author’s other books but I found this one a bit unbelievable in parts. That said it was also a bit of a rollercoaster ride which kept me reading. I would definitely read the next offering. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for chance to review it.

T. M. Logan is a go to author for me and I’ve read all of his books. I was excited to read his latest, The Daughter, publishing on 27th February 2025. Thanks to Bonnier Books and NetGalley for an advance copy to review.

Lauren can’t wait to collect her daughter, Evie, from her first term at university. When she goes to her room someone else answers the door. No one seems to recognise her and eventually Lauren discovers that Evie has dropped out. Evie’s phone and email account seem to be disconnected, so where is she? Lauren begins the search to get her daughter back.

From the start, I was gripped by this book. The short chapters keep it pacy and the characters are great, I particularly warmed to Lucas. The second half of the book really ramps up the tension and twists and turns, I couldn’t put the book down! I thought I had it sussed and the rug was pulled from under me yet again.
I was a bit disappointed the lovely, helpful security guy seemed to get forgotten about and never mentioned again. However, Lauren has enough on her plate I guess.

I would highly recommend this book if you want a gripping read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If I’d had the time, I would have probably read the book in one sitting. Another great read from T. M. Logan.

This is a great, fast paced thriller.
Lauren is looking forward to seeing her daughter again after she’s been away at University, but when she arrives at her place, she’s not there.
Lauren speaks to the admin department but they tell her that Evie has withdrawn from the course.
This sends Lauren into a spin but she’s determined to find out where Evie is.
Lauren’s younger son wants to help find his sister, so they both start searching. I found some aspects of this unbelievable especially when it’s clear they are up against some hardened criminals, yet Lauren keeps taking Lucas with her.
There’s a few surprises in store in this book which I really liked and as with TM Logan’s other books, there’s some nail biting moments.
Thanks to Bonnier Books for the opportunity to read this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read from start to finish. T M Logan is a new firm favourite when it comes to mystery authors, and this book is the epitome of why.

This book was captivating, mesmerising and had me tossing and turning, desperate to figure out exactly what was going on. I seemed to think I'd cracked it and, bam, another twist to keep us going. I found the characterisation to be superb, alongside how well thought out the narrative was, and generally everything felt absolutely fool proof. I did not know who to trust, who to blame and I just felt an urge to step into the narrative myself and help the characters get to the bottom of the situation.

This book felt so scarily real, that I was genuinely concerned for Evie and wanted to look after her and make sure she was okay. I felt such a connection to the characters and I spent a significant time after reading this book thinking about what their lives would look like now!

Another blinder from T M Logan.

Lauren arrives to pick up her daughter from University only she isn't there. She hasn't been there for weeks.
This is the story of what Lauren does next and how the instincts of a mother kick in and she will stop at nothing to find her.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for sending me an ARC of The Daughter.

I am literally still trying to get my breath back after this! It is like driving in a race car at 100mph from start to finish! What an absolutely AMAZING ride! I could not put this down. Good job it’s half term and I’ve got the time!

There are no other words. Total brilliance.

This is truly one of the twistiest thrillers I've read to date. It had me completely gripped from the first chapter to the last.

Clever, fast-paced, emotional, dark... I loved it! The characters are so well written and utterly believable. This is now my favourite book from this author. So, so good!

The Daughter is a clear 5/5⭐️ read and can see this adapted for tv.
Lauren is on her way to pick up her daughter, Evie, when we first meet her. Lauren is travelling to the university to bring Evie home for the Christmas holidays, it’ll be the first time she’s seen her since dropping her off back in September. When Lauren goes to her room a boy answers, he’s never seen Evie. Lauren checks she has the right room before finding someone from the university to help her but they aren’t allowed to tell her anything. Lauren finds out eventually that Evie left the university weeks ago, so where is she? When Lauren tries to ring her the number is unrecognised. She needs to find someone who knows her daughter to give her a lead to help track her down.
This was a tense read at times, I was glad my daughter has done uni as I would have been even more tense! The book flowed really well there was a great twist that had my shouting out “what!!”. There are a lot of great characters that were well rounded and believable making this book so much more readable. The storyline was well thought out and had a good pace all the way through. The ending was believable and left no unanswered questions.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Bonnier Books Uk, Zaffre for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Wow wow wow - this book gripped me more than any other recently!! I loved it.
I loved the pace, the story telling, the setting and everything else.
Id say The Daughter and The Dream Home are the best TM Logan has written.
I feel like I've struggled reading recently, but this just pulled me out of it and I couldn't get enough.
I've been reading a chapter at every opportunity.
I don't want to give any spoilers - I guessed several parts, but it didn't ruin it and it was quite cleverly done.
It covers a lot of recent trends..... Which were written quite well I think.
Definitely 5 stars, a recommended read for all.

The Daughter is an absolutely gripping thriller that hooks you from the very first page. Lauren arrives at her daughter’s university to pick her up, only to discover that she hasn’t been there for weeks and no one, not the university or even the police, seems willing to help. Determined to uncover the truth, Lauren and her young son take matters into their own hands, leading to a tense and unpredictable investigation.

The pacing is relentless, with each new clue pulling you deeper into the mystery. Just when you think you have things figured out, the story delivers a jaw-dropping twist that completely changes everything. It’s one of those books that keeps you up all night, desperate for answers.

If you love psychological thrillers packed with suspense, emotion, and shocking reveals, The Daughter is a must-read!

Yet another fantastic book by T.M Logan - this has got to be my favourite by far! This book had me so stressed out trying to figure out what had happened to Evie and feeling like no-one was trying to help Lauren find her. I loved all the reveals and the twists planted in the storyline, it kept me hooked the entire way through. Highly recommend picking this one up!

Lauren is looking forward to seeing her daughter again. She is travelling to collect her for the Christmas holiday, after her first term at Uni. When Lauren arrives at her daughter’s room, she finds it’s occupied by another student. Upon further investigation around the campus, Lauren discovers that Evie hasn’t been at Uni for a number of weeks.

Lauren is in a state of total disbelief. Although their relationship was rather tenuous, how can her daughter have left without telling her? The Uni can only provide limit assistance as Evie is an adult, and the police aren’t very helpful as she hasn’t been missing for long enough. With the help of the Uni’s Security Guard and her son, Lauren takes it upon herself to search for her daughter. The search takes them on a journey which is both dangerous and fraught with tension, making some discoveries which Lauren had thought were buried deep and would never resurface.

A compulsive read which gains momentum the more you read. Highly recommended, just don’t start just before bedtime!
