Awesome! T M Logan never disappoints.

The Daughter is a tale of family, growing up, organised crime, feuds, drugs and more. Starting with a missing daughter the story follows mother Lauren as she tries to work out where her child has gone. Along the way she risks losing everything and also discovers lost relationships and new friendships. Who can she trust? Will she ever find out the truth and get her daughter back?

Fast paced and with brilliant twists this is a riveting book that will have you glued to your seat until you are done!

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳 is the latest standalone from prolific thriller author T.M. Logan.

I was lucky enough to hear T.M. Logan discuss this book at Iceland Noir, where he shared that the inspiration came from an ordinary "what if" worry – what if you went to pick up your child from university, only to find they had disappeared?

That’s exactly what happens when Lauren arrives to collect her daughter, Evie, for the Christmas holidays. Because Evie is nowhere to be found. She’s not in the apartment block where Lauren dropped her during fresher's week. A stranger answers the door, claiming not to know her. Worse still, Evie has apparently dropped out of university, and now every text Lauren sends bounces back undelivered.

I loved the exploration of family dynamics in this novel – so many layers, so many secrets, just like real families. The pacing was excellent, keeping me hooked, and I devoured it in just two days. The final stretch, in particular, is high-octane and utterly gripping. There is also a section towards the end that made me dislike something (no spoilers!) I never thought I possibly could – it's written so well! A must-read for thriller fans!

Thank you Zaffre and NetGalley for the ARC.

The thought of my children going missing is my worst nightmare. But that’s exactly what happens to Lauren in this mega stressful story by the ever brilliant TM Logan.

It’s just before Christmas and Lauren is excited to be picking Evie up from her first term at university. Except, when she arrives, it’s clear that Evie hasn’t been there for quite some time.

The Mother was one of my favourite reads of 2024 and this was just as brilliant (despite the names there is no connection between the books). Packed with twists and turns and it kept my heart in my mouth throughout. Things became a little silly towards the end but that’s true of many thrillers and I was enjoying myself! Loved it.

Wow this was such a good book, I'm now in two minds whether I should let my daughter go to Uni in September!!

Really enjoyed this very scary, twisty physiological thriller, seems like it could be a little to realistic at times and really hope we don't come across anything like this in real life. I have now read all TM Logan's books and have thoroughly enjoyed them all.

Great realistic and well written characters in Lauren and Lucas in the search to find out what has happened to Evie.

Just when you think you've worked it out, everything gets mixed up again and yes, it really will keep you up at night!!

A big thanks to Bonnier Books UK | Zaffre and Netgalley for the chance to preview this arc prior to publishing. It really was a brilliant read.

I'd be interested to see this as a tv series or movie.

I always look forward to a new TM Logan book and just like his other books, this one was hard to put down at first.

Fast-paced with short chapters, the first half of The Daughter is a gripping and exciting thriller.

I've read many thrillers that begin with a "parent's worst nightmare" situation, but this is an even worse one: What if your children grow up and just want nothing to do with you?! It's heartbreaking to think about Lauren's predicament, so she's an easy character to root for.

But of course there's something more going on. With interwoven chapters narrated by Evie skipping back to a few months before, we also get a glimpse into her disappearance which puts the spotlight on a number of people. So who is it that we can't trust?

It was fun to try and come up with some predictions, as the answers soon start to unravel.

If you know me well, you know there's a certain sub-genre of thrillers that quickly lose my interest, and unfortunately The Daughter did go that way so the second half wasn't as engaging for me. But that's just a personal preference, and thriller fans are sure to find the second half just as exhilarating.

If you're a fan of Logan, you're sure to love his latest. If you're yet to pick up a book by him, then now is the time to add one to your list!

First off, this author never disapponts. I'm not sure I can do this book justice with this review. . So much I want to say but readers need to read this first hand as it all unfolds. I was gripped from the very first page. Lauren Wingfield preparing to collect her daughter, Evie from University for the Christmas break. I could visualise this very clearly and how my heart sank when she arrived and couldn't find Evie. I was desperate to know the outcome of this book. The desperate search by Lauren and her 12 year old son Lucas felt so real. I became quite atrached to Lucy's. The book never let up from start to finish. Adrenaline and emotions on high alert. I was stunned by the pulling the rug from under your feet ending! A fast paced gripping thriller that you cannot put down. I started and finished this book in a day. Brilliant read!

The Daughter is another excellent book by T.M. Logan. I have read and thoroughly enjoyed all of Tim's books and The Daughter is as thrilling as the rest of his work.
It is December and Lauren has travelled to collect her daughter Evie from university where she has just completed her first term studying law. However, she cannot find her daughter at the halls of residence and is told that she doesn't live there, and hasn't studied there for many weeks.
What has happened to Evie? Where has she been? Has she been keeping secrets from her mother? Is Lauren able to find her daughter and determine the truth?
An excellent domestic thriller for those who love Tim's books and those who haven't read any before.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My first 5 star read on this year.

What a story. This is the second book I've read by T.M Logan, and what a corker it is!

This is every mums worst nightmare. A missing child with no trace of what happened. When Lauren goes to pick her daught Evie up from the university for her Christmas break, she arrives to find Evie gone, vanished, missing. As panic sets in Lauren is determined to get to the bottom of her daughters disappearance no matter the cost.

Those of you who love T.M. Logan's books are in for a treat with this one. I absolutely loved it. Having a daughter myself, this story hit harder. It heightened all my fears and my anxieties, I raced through page after page, breath held, hands gripped tightly to my Kindle, i needed to find out what happened to Evie.

I'm not going to say much about the plot. It's filled with characters I was rooting for, fast-paced suspenseful, and full of tension. It had me wide-eyed with terror and panic. The twists, oh my, I did not see them coming.

This book won't leave you disappointed. If you haven't already, you need to add this to your tbr immediately.

Huge thanks to Bonnier Books and Zaffre for my advanced copy.

I sometimes think ‘another missing person, is the whole of the UK missing?’, when read a blurb……but of course it is a fascinating subject and when done well by an author and it adds something new to the sub genre ( I think it’s one ) you can wave that thought away and enjoy

And T.M.Logan is one of those authors, his books are fast, punchy and all action, no endless coffees but full on thriller pretty much from start to end, as there have been TV adaptions of previous books I read this wondering if it would be the next one and its good enough to be ( I did try my hardest not to have Jill Halfpenny in my mind as the lead character but the mind is a persuasive thing and so ultimately it stuck and I ran with it )

A powerful read, without giving anything away and a tale of a Mum and Brothers shock and then determination and how a family pulls together, a great ‘unexpected set of circumstances’ ( that better than using ‘twist’? ) that surprised us all, characters and reader, that led to a frantic finish

Really good writing and story telling throughout this full on thriller

The Daughter is a gripping and fast paced thriller. I throughly enjoyed reading this book and the plot felt so real, it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The book was action packed and I felt my heart in my throat. I’m not sure how this author writes such amazing and gripping books, this one is best so far!

The story started with Lauren travelling to collect her daughter from University but discovers she isn’t there. Lauren is desperate to see her daughter again but as she digs deeper into her whereabouts, the story gets more complicated, although Lauren isn’t the only one hiding secrets. The characters in this book are well developed and I found myself rooting for Lauren to find the truth.

The book is full of twists and turns, I wasn’t sure and couldn’t predict what was going to happen next. I read the book in 2 sittings, it was an addictive read, I didn’t want to put the book down. The chapters were short and a lot of them ended on cliffhangers so made me want to read on. Every book by this author is incredible, I highly recommend this book and author.

Single mum Lauren goes to London to pick up her daughter, Evie, from university at the end of the first term, but there’s no sign of Evie anywhere. Another student is living in Evie’s room in the hall of residence and Lauren is told that Evie has dropped out of her course.
In her search for Evie, Lauren encounters another mother, Ruth, whose daughter, Cassie, has disappeared in similar circumstances. With the help of Lauren’s son, Lucas, Lauren and Ruth embark on a dark, dangerous journey to find Evie and Cassie.

Yet another highly addictive thriller from TM Logan. The tension ratchets up from the moment Lauren arrives at the university to discover her daughter is no longer a student there and doesn’t let up until the very end. A brilliantly executed twist! Loved it!

As a fan of T. M. Logan's books I was not disappointed this with one. With trademark twists and turns it will keep you hooked until the end.

Evie went to University to study law, but when her Mum Lauren turns up to bring her home at the end of her first term she's not there. Where is she, and did she go willingly?

Told from Lauren's perspective in a race to find her daughter, it's interspersed with what happened in the past from Evie's perspective. The clues are there if you pick up on them...

This had me gripped with the very first sentence and I think is TM Logan’s best book to date. I read this in a couple of days and couldn’t put it down. Work totally got in my way. There were quite a few big ‘wow’ twists that were quite good (I guessed one but then doubted myself, they were that clever)!

Lauren goes to pick up her daughter, Evie up from University for Christmas but when she gets there Evie is now where to be seen.

The chapters were a good length, not too short or long and is mainly told from Lauren’s POV with a few from Evie’s POV to fill in the gaps leading up to present day!

It’s absolutely gripping and addictive and a must read once it hits the shelves on 27th February.

Thank you to the author, publisher, Zaffre/ Bonnier Books and NetGalley for this digital arc.

Lauren is excited to go and pick up her daughter Evie from University after her first term. Mother and daughter are close, and she can’t wait to hear what her daughter has got up to. But when she knocks on her dorm room door there is a stranger that answers the door. She discovers that her daughter hasn’t been there for weeks, and she has left voluntarily. When she rings Evie, there is an automated message that her phone number is no longer available. So why isn’t she answering her phone and where has Evie been staying for the last few weeks?
Thank you, Bonnier, for an advanced copy of ‘The daughter’ for an honest review. This is another fantastic read from the author. His best one yet.
It starts with Lauren looking for her daughter and with no help from the Police. She starts the perilous journey to find out about what happened to her daughter. At first, I thought this was going to be like a family drama but as things develop the storyline revved up full throttle to an action-packed thrilling read, with twists that I wasn’t expecting. I loved it. 5 stars

I absolutely flew through this one. I've read all of Logan's books, and this is his best yet!
Lauren heads to her daughter Evie's uni to pick her up for the Christmas holidays, but when she arrives, there is no sign of Evie. No one has seen her for quite some time. Lauren can't get hold of her on the phone. It appears it's been cut off. So where is Evie?
At the end of each chapter, the tension is wratched up, which keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next.
There are chapters where we hear from Evie's side leading up to her disappearance.
The things Lauren did to find her daughter had my heart in my mouth at times. I wanted to hide behind the cushions.
The twists and turns, shock after shock. And THAT last twist! I actually shouted NO! and shut the book. Shocker! Brilliant!
This is another great story that I can see on screen. It would make a terrific thriller.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bonnier Books Uk/Zaffre for the ARC in return for an honest review.

You know what to expect with a TM Logan book and this started well with the disappearance of her daughter. But there were moments where you find yourself going that would not happen. But I enjoyed the story

I have read all TM Logan books to dates and I would say this one is up there with his best. Really gripping from the start - Lauren turns up at her daughter's university flat only to find she isn't there. At first she thinks there must be some kind of mistake but then panic sets in as she realises she hasn't been there for some time. From this moment onwards the plot gets thicker and darker with each chapter.
I didn't expect the book to go down the path it did but it remained exciting and suspenseful throughout.
I really liked Lauren's character despite her questionable decision making, Lucas was also a great little character!
If you liked TM Logan's previous novels I have no doubt you will love this one too!

This book had a great plot with intriguing characters. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from this author.

This is one of those books you cannot put down, “an up all night thriller”, as it says on the cover, the sort of novel that I have come to expect from this talented author.
When Lauren goes to pick up her daughter from Uni after her first term, she is very excited. She hasn’t seen her since she dropped her off in September and she can’t wait. Rushing up to her room in the hall of residence she is shocked to find another student there and no one seems to know where her daughter has gone. Running round the university trying to find out what has happened, she finds few clues and is even more worried when her frantic texts, emails and phone calls bounce back. Has Evie run off, keen for a fresh start, wanting to leave behind the frequent arguments with her mother or is there something more serious going on?
This is the start of a thrill a minute rollercoaster of a read about Lauren’s desperate search for her missing daughter. Lauren with the help of her 12 year old son, Lucas, a truly amazing character, track Evie across London, following the meagre clues they find.
I don’t want to reveal too much more but suffice it to say that this is a plot with so many twists and turns that I could barely catch my breath. Lauren and Lucas make a great team and of course I was really hoping they succeeded in their quest.
The flash backs to Evie’s earlier months- her a level year and start at university were tantalising and served to ratchet up the tension.
The first person narrative made the story very immediate and allows the reader to really get inside Lauren’s head and know how she was feeling.
If I could give this book 6 stars I really would! I highly recommend “The Daughter “ and all the previous books written by TM Logan.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my advance copy.
