Set on Greek Island, this is a story about Grace's emotional journey in the aftermath of her husband's death. She uses her teaching skills and applies for a job teaching English on the island. It's a brave move, but she's lonely and wants to make something of it for the rest of her life. Coming to terms with loss makes this a poignant tale, but Grace's sense of humour defines the story and balances the darker, sadder moments. There is also the beginning of romance, a rollercoaster of emotions for both participants. I like the protagonists, insightful storytelling, lovely friendships, humour, and romance. It's an immersive read that is perfect to escape with.

Still Got It is the story of Grace, who goes to a Greek island to teach English after retirement. Her daughters are grown up and have their own lives and her husband passed away a few years earlier and she is enjoying a new life in a beautiful location. Whilst there she meets Will who is also nearing retirement age and they build a friendship which progresses into a second chance of love later in life. A light story with enjoyable characters.

Still Got It was such a fun, heartwarming read! I loved Grace’s journey of self-discovery after loss and how she slowly opened her heart again while spending the summer in beautiful Greece. The setting was stunning, the characters were so relatable, and I really enjoyed the slow-burn romance between Grace and Will. It’s refreshing to read a later-in-life love story that felt real and uplifting. The story had a lovely mix of humour, emotion, and charm. My only wish is that there was an epilogue! A great feel-good read that shows it's never too late for new beginnings.

I really enjoyed this one, this was the perfect heartfelt summer read and I loved following the Grecian adventure for Grace there is so much emotion in her rediscovering herself and her happiness. I loved her relationship blooming with Will and it truly showed the heartache of trying to accept new love whilst holding the guilt of the past. The only thing missing from this book for me was an epilogue I would have loved to seen Graces final decision and a mini part of the future adventure.

A refreshing and fun later-in-life romance! This one started a bit slow for me, but I'm so glad I stuck with it! Grace is a widow and taking herself on a Greek summer vacation, mixed in with some teaching work. She encounters a variety of characters and catches the eye of a few different men, but has the funniest encounters with Will, another inhabitant of the island. They slowly become friends and Grace starts to deal with her grief along the way.

Really enjoyed the Greek escape aspect of this romance, and the ages of the main characters made this story unique. Romance can happen at any point in your life, and this lovely story captured that.

Special thanks to Harper Collins UK and NetGalley for the ARC!

Proof that love, laughter, and second chances never go out of style. This book had me grinning from page one, completely hooked by its charm, wit, and oh-so-relatable characters.

The banter? Hilarious. The chemistry? Off the charts. And the heartwarming moments? Perfection. Carver delivers a story that’s equal parts fun and feel-good, reminding us that it’s never too late to take a chance on love.

If you love a romance that makes you laugh, swoon, and cheer for the characters like they’re your best friends, Still Got It is an absolute must-read. Trust me, you’ll still be thinking about it long after the last page! 💕📖✨

Claire Carver is a new author for me but I loved Still Got It and devoured each page over the course of a weekend. Grace Foreman is heading to a beautiful Greek island to teach English for the summer. Her husband recently passed away and her daughters have flown the nest so it’s high time she did something for herself. She may have turned sixty but this summer promises to be a fun experience for her, especially when she meets ex special forces soldier Will. This book was a joy to read. I loved the characters and how Grace built friendships with her colleagues and Will. You feel as if you’re on the island with them and the plot unfolds nicely. It’s a tale of friendship, new beginnings and experiences. Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter and the author for the chance to review.

Still Got It.

One beautiful Greek summer and a second chance at love.
Grace Foreman never expected to find herself widowed before she turned sixty – but when she packs her bags for a summer on a gorgeous Greek island, the last thing on her mind is a holiday romance. Grace would rather take a chance on a tan … or maybe a new summer wardrobe…

I loved this lighthearted second chance at love book, I truly connected Grace and will definitely be a reread book for me.

Thank you NetGalley and Claire Carver for this amazing Arc

Still Got It by Claire Carver is a romance novel that explores the concept of finding love later in life. Unfortunately, the execution falls short of its promising premise.

The story follows Grace Foreman, a 60-year-old widow who travels to Greece for a teaching job and unexpectedly finds a second chance at love with Will Lancing, an ex-Special Forces soldier. While the idea of a mature romance is refreshing, the narrative fails to captivate, leading to a disappointing reading experience.

The writing style lacks the engaging quality needed to keep readers invested, resulting in frequent interruptions in reading. The abundance of secondary characters proves more confusing than enriching, especially when combined with longer breaks between reading sessions. This confusion detracts from the main storyline and makes it challenging to connect with the protagonists.

Despite its shortcomings, the novel does attempt to address meaningful themes such as grief, resilience, and the courage to open one's heart again after loss. The Greek island setting provides a picturesque backdrop for the story, potentially offering moments of escapism for readers.

However, the inability to fully engage with the characters and plot ultimately overshadows these positive aspects, leading to the decision to discontinue reading at 35% completion.

Rating: 2/5 stars

I have to say, it completely caught me off guard. I don’t usually pick up romance novels, but this one had me hooked from the first chapter. The chemistry between the two main characters was electric—it wasn’t just about the physical attraction, but the way they challenged and supported each other. I found myself rooting for them, even when they were making mistakes or letting their insecurities get in the way.

What really stood out to me was how real the story felt. The dialogue was sharp and natural, and the emotional moments hit hard without feeling overly dramatic. I could see pieces of myself in the male lead, especially in how he struggled to open up and be vulnerable. It made me think about my own relationships in a way I didn’t expect.

The pacing was perfect, with just enough tension to keep me turning the pages. And while there were moments that felt predictable, the journey was so enjoyable that I didn’t mind. By the end, I was smiling like an idiot—it was that satisfying.

This is a really feel good read. A refreshing novel which has the perfect amount of cheesy romance without being too much. It is a great second chance style story that follows a well love and familiar style of plot. Its raw, its feel good, its beautifully written. Highly recommend!

Still Got It by Claire Carver is a breathtaking debut romance that proves love knows no age, and that healing can bloom in the most unexpected moments.

Grace and Will are both at a crossroads in their lives, where grief and change force them to reassess their futures.

The result is a tender, deeply emotional journey that explores second chances and the quiet magic of finding love later in life.

From the outset, the humour in this book is a true delight.

It’s witty, sharp, and consistently lightens the mood, making the characters’ emotional struggles feel all the more impactful.

I felt like I was transported to a Greek island and could practically feel the sun on my back and the sand beneath my toes.

While it took me a little while to fully connect with Grace’s story, the dynamic between her and Will is undeniably touching.

Their bond strengthens over time, reminding Grace that love after loss is not a betrayal of the past but rather a continuation of life’s ever-changing narrative.

What makes Still Got It stand out is its raw, unflinching honesty.

Carver captures the experience of grief in all its forms - how it lingers, reshapes memories, and sometimes makes the idea of moving forward feel impossible.

But this book isn’t just a love story - it’s a tribute to resilience, to the courage it takes to open one’s heart again, and to the enduring, transformative power of love.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and its ability to blend humour with profound emotional depth is what truly makes it special.

Claire Carver has crafted a story that celebrates the quiet beauty of life’s second chances, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a heartfelt and uplifting read.
