I’m honestly not sure what possessed me to request this book as it’s not the genre I would generally read, and I was unfamiliar with the author. For whatever reason, I’m certainly glad that I did because I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story was absolutely lovely, the characters engaging, and I particularly enjoyed reading such charming, vivid descriptions of the south of France. I also appreciated that older characters existed in this book (one as old as 89), because often I think anyone above 50 is forgotten in this type of literature. If you’re looking for a delightful way to spend a slow afternoon, this book is certainly it.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Kate Galley, and the publisher for providing me with an advanced digital copy of this wonderful book.

It's not often that the main characters in books are of a certain age, and this was a perfect break from the norm. I loved this book and could not put it down. Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for a copy of this book for an honest review.

This heartwarming and humorous story by Kate Galley centers around Gina, a vibrant woman in her seventies, who takes on a short-term role as a companion for Meredith, a novelist recovering from an injury, and her husband in the South of France. The arrangement arises through Dorothy, Gina’s mischievous older friend, who has a personal interest in uncovering secrets tied to Meredith’s mysterious memoir.
As Gina helps type up Meredith’s memoir, she navigates the couple’s challenges, uncovers small mysteries, and proves herself indispensable with her warmth and problem-solving skills. Alongside Gina’s story, Dorothy brings her own brand of chaos and comedic meddling to the mix. The book alternates between perspectives, adding depth and humor while immersing readers in the idyllic French setting.
With its focus on strong, older women, light romance, and witty storytelling, this novel offers charm, heart, and a touch of mystery. It works well as a standalone but is even more enjoyable if read alongside its predecessor.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book
an enjoyable read but at times it felt odd against the title of the book
gina at 71 found herself starting over after her husband decided that life was better with a younger model.... dont they all...
shes living at the moment in a boat house owned by her friend dorothy who she also happens to be a companion for.... and its whilst there that dorothy sends her on a mission
to be a companion to one of her eldest friends who dorothy has been estranged from for years....
it seems this friend meredith is about to do a biography of her life and there may be something that she mentions that could cause embarrassment to dorothy...
so gainfully employed to be a companion to meredith ... gina heads out but who knew what adventures awaited her.....
i found the beginning to be a bit jumpy and bitty but once it settled down it was very much an entertaining read...

When, at the age of 71, Gina Knight's husband of four decades left her unexpectedly, she thought her life over. Until she met Dorothy Reed – a woman so full of the joie de vivre you'd think she was 21, not nearly 90. Gina would do anything for Dorothy. So when Dorothy suggests she take on the role of companion for one of Dorothy's old friends, Gina sees no reason to say no.
Meredith Harper is a successful writer, living in Provence, and needs help looking after her husband, whose health is deteriorating. But when Gina arrives at the grand chateau, it becomes clear that Dorothy has not given Gina the full story. Because Meredith is also writing her memoirs, and Dorothy wants to know the contents before anyone else. So much so, she's sent Gina to spy.
This story was such a lovely read! I loved seeing the memoir unravel things, and reading about these older women and their lives was a blast! I'm getting to that age, and I'm glad to know that there are great days ahead! 4⭐
I received an advanced complimentary digital copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed are my own.

After reading the first book of the series “Old Girls Behaving Badly” I was looking forward to seeing what the ladies get up to next. I think you could read this just fine without having read the first boom though.
This story finds Gina being a companion/aide to an elderly couple, Meredith and Gerald. Gerald has dementia and Meredith fell and broke her arm so she needs help caring for herself and her husband. Dorothy suggests that Gina goes help Meredith but with an underlying intention-Meredith is writing her memoir and Dorothy wants to know what all Meredith is writing in the book as there are secrets in their past that she doesn’t want coming to light. It starts as a favor to Dorothy but in the process Gina finds herself again and there is of course some romance mixed in with all the antics of these senior ladies. There’s also a little mystery added in to round out this enjoyable read. Can’t wait to see what the ladies get up to next!
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.

An absolute delight to read another story with Gina and Dorothy. Although this is the second story involving this pair I'm hoping it's not the last and it certainly doesn'tmatter if the first book hasn't been read. Fun and lighthearted book set in Provence. In a luxury hotel near Aix and Marseille. Gina is employed as a companion to Meredith and Gerald as Dorothy is concerned that Meredith is about to spill the beans about an incident from their shared past. A little predictable at times but enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this continuing story of Gina and her friend Dorothy, who forged their friendship later in life during Old Girls Behaving Badly. Gina agrees to work as a companion for someone from Dorothy's past. at a chateau with a beautiful location and some interesting characters. There's a bit of mystery, a bit of romance, and a lot of humor. This is a lighthearted read, perfect for any age, but especially those of us who often feel invisible because of our age.

This is my first Kate Galley novel. I was not aware that this is the 2nd installment of a series. Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy and for introducing me to Kate Galley. Her other books are already in my TBR. The book is a heartwarming and humorous story with a dash of mystery to keep everyone on their toes. Kate Galley's characters are based on strong, relatable, mature women. Galley weaves her beloved characters with relatable , real world flaws. There is a small touch of romance, proving that love is definitely not defined by an age or number. This group of mature women are portrayed as feisty, charismatic and loveable. If you are looking for an escape from your life, book a trip to France with these great characters. I loved how they all live in the moment and don't worry about how old they are, in their minds they are still 28 years old. They show us to take anything for granted enjoy life to the fullest.

While I quite enjoyed the Old Girls' Behaving Badly, unfortunately the Old Girls' Chateau Escape fell flat for me. I think this was mostly because it felt like the mystery had little to no stakes - that it was just there. I also felt like the multiple POVs distracted from things and that they weren't needed to keep the tension, as I was invested in Gina and not really anyone else. What I enjoyed about the first book was the relationship between Gina and Dorothy, and since it wasn't as present as in book one, I didn't feel as engaged.
Nevertheless, there were some redeeming moments, and I'd want to see what Dorothy and Gina get up to next.
Thanks to NG and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Gina, who is 70, is a paid companion to 90 year old Dorothy. Dorothy is her usual self being nosy and up to no good. Gina has been on one adventure with Dorothy and is not sure she up to another one. But this time Dorothy talks Gina in to taking a job with an old friend. Only she doesn’t tell Gina it’s too late that this time it’s more of a spy job.
With a mystery or two, a growing friendship and some travels through France this book was a delight. Especially written with characters of a certain age.
Book two in this series, but it can be read as a standalone. Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the advanced copy. This review is my honest opinion.

I read this before the first in the series (or related at the very least) titled “Old Girls Behaving Badly” and though it read seamlessly as a standalone I just downloaded it because I am now a huge fan and want to know her origin story and how she got here. This was such an emotional, smart, witty, poignant read. Gina had her life torn apart when her husband walked out via a Dear John note. She was looking forward to a nice retirement and boom. That ship didn’t just sail away, but sunk to the bottom of the ocean. She’s now working as a companion to Dorothy (Dot). Dot is a pistol and sweet on the outside, but always with a riotous ulterior somewhat sneaky motive. The agenda she has planned for Dot is fabulous and wonderfully written. I loved that these women are written as whole human beings and continue to live life, grow, discover who they are and what they want and don’t just sit back, wait for life to happen or for someone to save them. They save themselves. Funny, irreverent and absolutely a wonderful read for women of any age.

Nice read with an interesting twist or two. It was nice to read from the perspective of older people, something I haven’t done much of but did enjoy.
Definitely recommend this one for a nice easy but fun read

I enjoyed this cosy mystery set in the South of France and featuring two older ladies as the protagonists. The characters were well written and likeable especially Riley the hotel cat. Although a sequel, I felt I already knew the characters. A great holiday read and a superb advertisement for Aix-en-Province.

This is the sequel to Old Girls Behaving Badly, where we met Gina, 71. Now she is recently separated, meets Dorothy in her 90’s but behaves like she’s 21. They both go to the South of France to help Gina’s friend, Meredith, with her husband’s illness.
I love a good and funny story about old people behaving reckless, I loved spending sometime in Marseille with this women.
The book cover is exactly what the reader would expect, fun, cozy and a bit mysterious.

I wanted to love this book but it fell flat for me. I wonder if I may have enjoyed it more if I'd read other titles in this series in advance..
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I hadn't read the first book in the series which I think might have helped. I quite enjoyed this, but it was fairly forgettable and I think there are better writers in this genre.

I enjoyed the previous book in this series, Old Girls Behaving Badly, and was looking forward to reading the next book in the series and I'm pleased to say that I wasn't disappointed. This time Dorothy asked Gina to go undercover and take up the temporary position of supporting an elderly couple, Meredith and Gerald, ex friends of hers. Meredith, a famous writer, is writing her memoirs and Dorothy is worried that a secret from their past is going to be revealed.
Set in a lovely part of France there are several threads in this story, as well as the main one concerning the memoir. A grumpy chef, a mystery woman and a thief are woven together with the mystery of what may be revealed by Meredith. It isn't essential to read the previous book, although it helps you understand the characters and their stories, but it is a nice change to read about others in my age group - I'm the same age as Gina. It is told from several characters viewpoints, which helps the story develop and drew me into the story. In summary a book that I did enjoy and the ending gives a hint towards the next in the series, which I'm really looking forward to reading.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

I had not read the first book in this series, so I felt like I might have been missing some important information at first. This book started slowly for me. I did enjoy the different points of view throughout

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. But it exceeded all of them.
It was well written. It was a lovely read. One you imagine reading In a cozy nook with sun beams shining in and a smile on your face.
The kind that makes you want to set a picnic up on a blanket by the sea, a flask of tea and big hat vibe of life ha!
It was really great to have this age range aswell. We don't have enoguh. And each time I read one with this age group I love it.
It's like how we all love those elder characters in books. Well with this one we get that from all our characters so it's a huge win.
