Blood, Iron and Bone, written by Sera Foxe, is the first book in the multi-perspective Lightbringers series. The first half of the book was a little overwhelming due to the amount of various characters we are introduced to. The character development, however, brought a great element to the story, and I think it really helped drive the plot forward. This series introduces the main female protagonist, Aurelia, who feels lost and lacking importance in her mundane human life. She is caught up in these odd dreams that keep whispering to her that she has a unique destiny with her mate in another realm. That other realm is a Fae kingdom called Aithrim, in which a prince royal, Andar, is set to marry Princess Lark, who is also struck with odd dreams. The pair are set to marry in order to fulfill the prophecy to bring light and prosperity back to their land, yet these continuous dreams seem to portray a completely different destiny. These characters are thrown into a twist of fate and must work together to bridge the gap between realms and save their kingdom from destruction.

Overall, I give this book 3.5 stars. It is a great debut novel and has great potential, and I thought the worldbuilding and overall arc of the story were really intriguing. If you enjoy fated mates, magic, fantasy world-building, and found family, this book is perfect for you!

Wow! What an incredible read! The world building was brilliant and appropriately paced, too. The story was incredible and had me hooked from the very first page. The characters were all interesting in their own way and I enjoyed learning about them throughout the book. I devoured this book in a few days, it was absolutely brilliant.

With my little adhd it was really hard to keep track of who was talking. But the book was amazing and I hope in the future graphic audio makes an audiobook of it because that would be amazing! Took a starting just do to how much brain power I needed to keep everyone straight

Blood Iron and Bone by Sera Foxe is an engaging and fast-paced fantasy novel that captivated me from the first page. Set against a richly developed world, the story unfolds in a single day, yet it feels complete and satisfying, an impressive feat for any author.

The pacing of the book is spot on. Despite the entire storyline taking place over the course of just one day, Foxe keeps the tension high and the plot moving forward without ever feeling rushed. This gives the book an exciting immediacy, while still allowing time for deep character development and world building.

One of the highlights of Blood Iron and Bone is the magic system. Foxe has created an intricate and unique system that feels fresh and immersive, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the plot. It’s evident that a lot of thought has gone into the world building, making it easy for readers to get lost in the universe she’s created.

The characters are another strength of the story. Each one feels distinct and well crafted, with their own motivations and personalities that add depth to the story. I particularly adored the furry companions, Pan and Greymalkin, two characters who steal the show with their charm and antics. Delightful addition to the story, and brings an air of mystery and allure.

The first book wraps up its storyline in a way that is both conclusive and satisfying, leaving just enough room for further exploration in the next installment. I was left feeling fulfilled, but also eagerly anticipating the sequel to see what new twists and turns Foxe has in store.

Overall, I highly recommend Blood Iron and Bone to fans of fantasy who enjoy rich world building, dynamic characters, and a well paced, action packed plot. The book delivers on all fronts, and I’m excited to continue the journey in the next book. A big thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this fantastic book!

Firstly-what a ride! I really enjoyed this book, but fair warning: it’s definitely not for everyone. This story has six POVs. It takes a good chunk of brainpower just to keep track of who was narrating at any given moment. At times, I caught myself flipping back a few pages like, “Wait, whose perspective is this again?”

The whole book takes place over just a few days, which made the pacing pretty tight. There were a couple of moments where the story veered off track a little, but those didn’t pull me out of the narrative too much. The overall pacing kept me hooked, and I loved uncovering all the little mysteries the author planted.

For my romance lovers, there’s a fated mates subplot, but it doesn’t take center stage. It’s there in the background, adding just enough spice without overshadowing the main storyline. Personally, I was more invested in the world-building and unraveling the intricate web of relationships and secrets. The romance is more like the cherry on top.

There’s not a ton of magic in this one, but you can tell the foundation is being laid for the next book—it’s like the author is teasing us with what’s to come. And let me just say, I’m already excited for it!

Overall, I’d give this one four stars. It’s a unique and engaging read. If you’re in the mood for a complex fantasy with fae, great world-building, and a touch of romance, this is for you. But if you’re looking for something lighter and less mentally demanding, you might want to save this one for another time.

Blood Iron and Blood is a fantasy book with a very small romance subplot. To be honest this book was hard to read for about 50% of it. You get six POV that are all happening at different times and places. The POV start immediately with the book so there is a ton of world building within learning these characters.

The book is very heavy on the prose. Lots of internal
Monologues and trying to figure out what’s happening. The story is intriguing I’ll say that and once we get everyone together the story flows way better and paces better but getting there was a challenge.

I had an issue with the continue repeating and ignoring of some characters, it seemed like lazy writing to me.

While I liked Andar/Aurelias story I’m more interested in Nova and Cillian, that’s what I want to see.

Thank you to Sera Foxe for this arc in exchanged for
My honest review!

I did thoroughly enjoy this book. I found the characters likable and the plot enjoyable. Pan/Gray was definitely my favorite character as a cat mother. And I definitely love Nova, as that is the same name as my cat 🫣 (no shame). Besides that, I love Lark. I think her story is desperate and tragic to the point of hating her while at the same time rooting for her.
However, I will say that at the beginning, the book started slow and a little confusing with the POVs. But, once you are introduced to characters and understand the differences between them, it does become clearer. Once I finished, I found the combined POVs in the chapters helpful as I did not have to reread the same situations over again.

This book is written beautifully. The story sucked me in immediately and I read as much as I could in my busy holiday work schedule. The pacing was just perfect for me, the characters were intriguing, and the love story made me feel like my heart was moved.

This is not an "easy"/"relaxing" read, so if you're looking for a pallet cleanser or trying to cure a book hangover, this may not be it for you. This is written in such a way that, in lack of a better phrase, made my brain use more brainpower than other books I'd consider "easy" reads. This is not an insult, though, as I really appreciate the writing style since most books I've been reading recently are too simply written.

The only thing about this book that felt odd to me was the overuse of parentheses and explanations within those parentheses. I feel like the words within them can just be made into regular sentences.

Other than that, I HIGHLY recommend this as your next romantasy read!

This was such an amazing read. I didn’t want to put it down. The characters within this book was amazing. They had to face many challenges which were very interesting and as they had to work through really meant that they had developed as characters. Aurelia and Andar were amazing characters and definitely brought a lot to the story. The way in which everything developed for the overall story and plot I kept wanting to read it to find out more. With how the story ended I am definitely intrigued to see what the next book has install.

3.5 ⭐️

This was an introductory novel by this author and there were positives and negatives as there always is. I do think overall the author had a good idea with the plot, and an interested to see where this series goes. With that being said,

The things I liked about this book: There were some good lines such as “but history has always feared women” which I appreciated in the beginning. I also think some of the side characters (Cillian and Nova) were better than the main characters and had more depth. I did enjoy reading Aurelia’s character as well and thought her quirkiness and wittiness helped the plot as well. I also enjoyed the mystery component to this story and trying to figure out who was hiding what and who could be trusted. There were also some plot twists in this book that I was not expecting which helped keep me engaged as well. The would building was unique and did have a fairytale type of feel too it.

The things I did not like about this book: while I do enjoy a multi-POV book, this one took it a little too far for me to where it was switching POV’s from sentence to sentence. This made it confusing at times and the back and forth between third and first person as well made it feel like there were too many different thoughts happening at once. It made it a little hard to really appreciate any of the characters because I feel like I was getting bombarded by all of them at once. The world building was unique and felt very fairytale as I mentioned before, but all of the different creatures and types of fae was also a little confusing to keep track of and I wish there would have been more in depth descriptions of how their territories worked. I am also an enemies to lover girlie so I wasn’t a huge fan of the insta love (which it is not advertised as enemies to lovers so that is just my own personal issue), and the love between the two fated mates seemed a little too much and cheesy sometimes. I also did not love the MMC and thought he was too all over the place with his thoughts and feelings and seemed a little entitled and out of touch, where as the FMC’s seemed to be a little more in tune with what they wanted and what was going on. Some of the language used during the few spicy scenes was a little cringe, but overall they were executed well.

I am not sure if I will read the next book or not, but this was a good read if you are into fated mates, prophecies, good side characters, and unique world building.

✨Book Review ✨

Blood Iron and Bone by Sera Fox
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Aurelia Bartlett hated her normal existence and life, she felt she was made for something grander than living on a farm with her two parents. She begins to have weird dreams that show another world, another existence and man she believes is destined to be hers. One day she follows the call to this other world, and her whole life changes.

This book had Twitches vibes (IYKYK) and I was loving it! The first half of the book hooked me and was flying through it but the multiple POV in the middle did slow me down. However, the last part of the book really picked up and was action packed!

This book has everything you need in a fantasy book: a unique magical world, fated mates, a mysterious curse and prophecy that must be protected at all costs. It also has a cast of side characters that are very compelling.

This is the first book in the Lightbringers series. I enjoyed reading this one and I can’t wait to pick up the next one!

**Review: 3.5 Stars**

*Blood, Iron, and Bone* by Sera Foxe is an ambitious and immersive fantasy tale that takes readers on a journey through a richly crafted world filled with intrigue, magic, and danger. The story is told through six distinct POVs, giving readers a comprehensive view of the complex narrative. Each character offers a unique perspective, and while some were more engaging than others, their combined voices created a layered and dynamic story.

Foxe’s world-building is detailed and imaginative, painting a vivid backdrop for the unfolding drama. However, at times, the intricate plot and multiple viewpoints made the pacing feel uneven, and I found myself more invested in certain storylines than others. While the writing was compelling in parts, some moments felt overly descriptive, slowing the momentum.

That said, *Blood, Iron, and Bone* is a solid debut with a lot of potential, especially for readers who enjoy multi-POV narratives and epic fantasy. It’s a book that asks for patience but rewards it with moments of brilliance and emotional depth.

A heartfelt thank you to NetGalley and Sera Foxe for providing me with an eARC of this book. It was a pleasure to experience this story early, and I look forward to seeing what Foxe creates next!

Blood Iron and Bone is a unique new adult fantasy book set in both a fae and modern mortal world. The fae world is super interesting and quite different from the usual fae world that we know and love from other fantasy books.

I found that the characters in the book, although very different (mostly), seem to mesh together well and contribute to the plot. I would say, though, that this book has quite a slow pace overall, but there were definitely moments that speed up. In saying this, the author has a writing style that is different from many other fantasy authors I have read before, which may be a contributing factor for making the book feel slightly slow at first. I did get used to the writing style at about 30%.

For those who aren't a fan of common/modern slang in their fantasy books, just a heads up that there are some moments of this kind of language. However, I didn't think it took anyway from the plot. In fact, I thought at times it made sense to use that language.

This book also has quite a few flashbacks. I found them mostly to work well with the plot but did get confused at the relevance in some of them. All in all, the flashbacks did help me understand the characters more.

Overall, I think this book is a 3.75 star read, but I will round it up to 4. The fact that this is a debut is quite impressive, and I am excited to see where the series goes.

3,75 stars. wow, what a debut novel!!

The first thing and what I liked the most was that from the first moment, you immerse yourself in the story. Although at first you don't understand very well how everything works or are clear about what is happening, it is undoubtedly worth continuing reading to see more and more. I think it was from 50% of the book, that I couldn't really stop thinking about the book.
This book has 6 different points of view, so you won't miss anything! Being able to see from all points of view can be a bit overwhelming at first, but the characters are introduced little by little and it's great to see how all their stories intertwine.
I feel that it is not an easy book to read, having so many points of view and many things happening at the same time, you have to spend time situating yourself in the story, so perhaps this can overwhelm someone who is not used to reading fantasy.
As for the plot, although things happen from the first moment, it takes its time to introduce you to the world and everything that is happening around the protagonists, since their lives are intertwined. Also the worldbuilding is very detailed and the descriptions are very extensive.
The plot of the book happens in a very short time but it is mixed with elements of the past so you have a very complete vision of the characters. There is romance in the book but it is not the most important thing or the point of this book. This book has fated-mates among the protagonists but I liked the secondary romance stories more.I really liked the relationship between the 3 protagonists and how their points of view come together little by little.

’ve read this as an arc from netgalley and thought the story telling and the writing was very unique. I’d probably give it around 3.5 stars! The world building was easy to follow and the characters were also easy to understand! Great plot too the only thing I would say is it did feel that my hand was being held throughout the story like the author went into a lot of detail with what was happening and didn’t leave much to guess but apart from that it was a very fun read and can’t wait to read the next!

A quite nice story with a lot of adventure and lovely characters.
I loved the premise and the characters' relationships. I am a fan of multiple POVs, however, in many chapters the POVs were getting mixed up and that I did not like.
It was confusing and tiring. Trying to keep track of who was talking was disorienting.

I will keep an eye out for the next book.

Thank you @NetGalley for the copy!
