Terrible. Another "grumpy, brooding guy is rude, cold, and mean to girl, but eventually they are together happily ever after". This trope is an TOTAL BORE, insulting, and been done a billion, predictable times over. This book does it yet again, and not even well. Terribly.
Additionally, the writing is so generic, basic, and elementary, there is no depth to the story or characters whatsoever to be found.
Such a great read! Hit it all the feels about bringing yourself back to life literally. I loved it! Highly recommend it! One of my favorite reads to date!
One word: Adictive.
I couldn't put the book down. Great reading that I don't regret being accepted to read it.
I never read anything from Barbara before but I have to say that in the future? I will.
The heartbroken sotry between those two made me fall in love with the ide of yes it's okay for being broken in life, what really matter is someone to share those dark moments with and that person will make you feel less broken.
Alarm Fatigue should be in your TBR for 2025. I recommend to people, yes I always recommend books to people but this one is a 4 star, great writing style, easy to read, short chapters, everything I love!
Good job Barbara!

Alarm Fatigue by Barbara Rachel is a powerful and thought-provoking thriller that kept me captivated from start to finish. The novel delves into the mental and emotional toll of constant pressure and the haunting effects of ignoring warning signs—both in life and in the workplace. The plot is fast-paced, with twists that leave you questioning what’s real, and the characters are deeply relatable, grappling with their own personal battles. It’s a gripping story that explores the cost of burnout, responsibility, and resilience. If you enjoy tense, reflective thrillers, this one is definitely worth a read.
Wonderful debut book that is worth checking out. Rave reviews have included that it is about the female friendships as much as the romance. Its not a perfect book, but worth taking a chance on.
Rachel’s transformation is a powerful reminder that love, both romantic and self-love, can be the catalyst for true healing, but it also requires confronting vulnerability and the pain of the past. Alarm Fatigue is a heartfelt exploration of finding the strength to move forward, even when it seems impossible, and rediscovering the courage to embrace the unknown. With poignant moments, rich character development, and an inspiring message, this is a book that will resonate with almost anyone gives it a read.
Alarm Fatigue is a romance that also explores many deeper themes of family, accepting one's self and grief.
First and foremost I would like to thank Barbara Rachel for finally portraying a nurse practitioner who is a nurse practitioner because it was what she was called to do, not as an alternative to being a doctor. I really appreciated the explanation of what an NP is and why you would want to do that/how it is different from being a doctor.
Overall, I did enjoy this book but at times it was difficult to read. I appreciated the aspects of Jewish culture that were included and the realistic portrayal of the consequences of abuse. At times, there was so much going on in Rachel's head and outside of it that I had to go back and reread to make sure I got everything straight.
I enjoyed Mark at the MMC and I thought that the connection to Rachel's late husband was sweet.
If you are looking for romance book with deeper themes and a dark past- I think this is a good place to start.
