The Lamb Gang Save the Loch Ness Monster is a well illustrated cute book which will introduce young readers to the story of the Loch Ness monster as well as the concept of taking care of the environment. However the way it is written involves some badly placed rhyming which I don’t think worked or was needed. I like rhyming in a picture book but this is a little long to include random rhyming and I don’t think it worked.
A book written in a way that you have a story, but it also explains some of the ways humans are hurting the environment and animals, like littering. This book explains it in a way that children can understand. I think children will really enjoy the pictures and the Loch Ness monster getting saved!
I loved this book, it’s so cute and Scottish -can’t wait to buy a real copy to give to the kids. The illustrations are beautiful and rhe way the words flow is so fun
I thought this was so adorable!! First of all, the illustrations are so cute and I love how everything was spaced out. The characters are adorable, but what really made this book stand out was that it emphasized the importance of keeping the planet clean. This message was delivered in such a cute, fun way throughout the book and I think many children could easily understand it, while appreciating the entertaining animal characters and their dialogue! We definitely need more books like this in the world!

I love this little community of animals with a Scottish highlands flavour. The visuals conjured by the text are amazing — the Scottish sceneries come to life. I loved the angle of Nessie getting sick and the larger environmental message.
I really liked the illustrations in this book! It's definitely a cute story, but the animal noises in writing is a bit too much at times and can be distracting. Still a well-written children's book!
Proof that the best of intentions cannot guarantee the best book. This has some lambs getting together and cleaning up Loch Ness, because if the waters are getting too gunky and mucky and clogged with plastic for such an ancient critter as Nessie, they're certainly not good news for humans, lambs or anything else. The issue is, this is supposed to be dyslexia-friendly, and I seriously doubt that – we have words where the type size changes from letter to letter, we have a daft way of using bold font for words to stand out, and the whole thing is pretty much in narrative verse, where no two lines have anything like the same rhythm but crunch a rhyme in anyway, in a most annoying way. (Yeah – a bit like that.)
So while it may just be the adult me railing against the verse, I don't see the other problems I mention exactly helping anyone – it's not exactly what Barrington Stoke do with their texts, is it now? Now, someone with far too many letters after their name has come on board to say they approve, so I must be wrong, but I don't feel it helps much – and I stand my ground over the major irritant of the rhyming. I wanted a nice, charming whimsy about eco-minded animals showing us humans up, but got annoyed instead.
I think this is a great story with an important message. Using fantastic illustrations and rhymes, they make the importance of picking up after yourself accessible for kiddos.
I gave it four stars because what happens to the loch ness monster is a little graphic for kids. Also, I found myself kind of skimming the lamb parts because I wanted to get back to the loch ness.
A really fun read and the illustrations were really great.
It will be a lot of fun for kids to experience this story.
Not Being a Litterbug
The Lamb Gang is all about spreading the word to save our planet. Animals were even written with cute little accents. The International Litter Pickers Wanted was so perfect-it’s a lifestyle. Such a wonderful impression to make on young minds to not litter and be proactive when they see any to pick up.
I received a free copy of this book from Safari Thomas and BooksGoSocial. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.
This was an adorably sweet story about sheep saving the Loch Ness monster from litter the humans carelessly deposit in their environment.
The formatting and illustrations made it a breeze to read through, and this would be a really fun book to look forward to reading with kiddos chapter by chapter (or Bhhhaaahhh by Bhhhaaahhh.).
My favorite was the illustration at the end of the lamb gang holding the "litter pickers wanted" sign. A sweet approach to a poignant conversation.
The Lamb Gang Save the Loch Ness Monster is not only a sort of silly story with cute illustrations of lambs and Nessie, it also shares a message of keeping the environment clean and doing your part to help the world. I liked that it included information at the end about how to be a helper. This would be a good book for early elementary aged kids.
Thanks to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for an egalley of this book for an honest review.
