Hmmm… Annoying Dahlian stepmum sends annoying Dahlian stepkid to a boarding school, thus interrupting his masterful training at being a wonder-chef. Until he sends her the sweet treat of her dreams, the end. Or it's not the end, as for some reason there's a padding-out bit at the end trying to make it all a bit happier. Either way it's an extended narrative poem that sets up the weakest of short stories disguised as a novel – and you really can see where the versifying gets the better of our creative, and the rhymes fail, too. And seeing as all narrative logic was hanging on by a thread for most of the time there's a lot to dislike here, unfortunately. One and a half stars.
