Thank you for the e-arc! This book was a nice easy read and wasn’t too long, I would say that it’s a nice palette cleanser book to read between more meaty books. It was fairly predictable but I don’t mean that in a bad way at all I found it very enjoyable ☺️ I’m hoping the next book is about Dee and Jay

This is a really fun, quick read romance. Grumpy vs. sunshine, mistaken identity, and slow burn romance. There is one short smutty scene, but the story doesn't lack the tension and romantic build-up.

Bea and Dee are twin sisters. Bea is the good one, unlike her identical twin Dee , she never messes up. Dee having trouble keeping a job ask Bea for a desperate favor to keep her current job. Despite wanting to do it Bea knows Dee is trying hard to impress their highly unimpressed father. She simply takes one for her sister and pretends to be her.
Switching places is simple right ? Or did Bea bite off more than she can chew when she meets the boss Jonah Jacobson. Will Bea stick to the plan or will she fall head over heels for her (sisters) grumpy boss ?
Wanna know what happens read “Best Mistake Never” by Christy McKellen
Thank you NetGalley and publishing for an e-arc in exchange for my review

A cute, easy, romantic read that perhaps stretches the bounds of reasonability, but that's ok.
When Delilah injures herself and can't work, she enlists her twin sister Beatrice to fill in for her at work while she recovers. The twist? Dee has a thing for her boss, so she needs Bea to stay on his good side as much as possible. As readers can imagine, a simple twin swap/love connection trope ensues, but the story gets a little muddled by the subplot of Delilah and Jem, Bea's business partner, that seems to be setting something up for a future book.
Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced digital copy.

This felt not as good as I had hoped. The writing style is not my cup of tea. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for a chance to read this book.

Delilah (Dee) and Beatrice (Bea) are twins. Dee sprains her ankle and can't make it to her brand new job, bringing her in jeopardy of losing it. Her sister Bea is always there to help Dee out of the mess she gets herself into, so she agreed to swap places and take Dee's place until she's back on her feet. Dee's new boss is Jonah, a grumpy former musician and son of a former rockstar. Bea falls in love with him but he thinks she's Dee...
It's a quick and easy read, perfect for when you don't want to get to deep into a book. The story overall is fun and light, has a bit of spice and the sister swap idea is cute. But it wasn't for me. The triple POV confused me, at times I started to get the twin's stories mixed up and I didn't feel like Dee's POV added much to the story. Jonah's sobriety was handled a bit insensitive for my liking (having him drinking throughout the book??). And personally I like a bit more depth in character development and backgrounds.
This is just my personal opinion and says nothing about the author's writing, I can very well imagine others loving this story.
Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood books for the opportunity to read the ARC and trusting me to write an honest review

Tbh no me gustó el romance para nada, la trama no tiene un buen desarrollo y, Dee no puede ser la que resuelva mágcamente todo.
Lo que si rescato fue que era fácil y rápido de leer, pero más allá de eso, deja mucho que desear

In McKellen's Best Mistake Ever, Bea's desperate attempt to help her sister, coupled with her complete lack of hotel management experience, makes for a highly entertaining read. McKellen masterfully portrays the fish-out-of-water scenario, highlighting Bea's relatable struggles to maintain the charade while simultaneously trying to save the hotel from impending doom.
The real magic of this book, however, lies in the dynamic between Bea and her temporary boss, Jonah. McKellen skillfully crafts a compelling character in Jonah, the grumpy ex-rockstar with hidden depths. His initial aloofness and scrutiny create a palpable tension with Bea, making their slow burn romance all the more satisfying. McKellen excels at showcasing the layers beneath Jonah's gruff exterior. As Bea chips away at his walls, we see a vulnerable, intelligent, and surprisingly charming man emerge. This transformation, expertly executed, adds a layer of emotional complexity to the narrative.
Overall, Best Mistake Ever was a delightful and entertaining read. If you're looking for a lighthearted and swoon-worthy escape, this book is definitely worth picking up. It's a testament to the idea that sometimes, the best things in life come from those unexpected mistakes.

Meh was only alright tbh. quick read though. writing kind of felt very flat. The start where we got a chapter on the fmc and the sister and then the mmc it was tough to keep up, confusing. It either should’ve been like just had the fmc and mmc, chapter each or whatever.
Just didn’t really get into it. was a quick and easy read but didn’t really connect with the storyline.
I dunno but just not a fan of the like identical twin tropes in romance- just nah ick altogether.
I also felt the romance between the MC’s was not great just completely rushed didn’t really feel developed??
Maybe the book could’ve been a little longer, focused a lot more on the MC’s particularly the MMC to understand his background/trauma struggle, feel like his alcohol sobriety could’ve been explored more. It would have been nice to have a lot more development of the MC’s relationship, it just didn’t feel right. Really wanted to enjoy this but, a struggle to finish but got there. I would’ve preferred if the sister was only working there for a short time and then the mmc would find out and the story would’ve been able to develop further.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick romance read that offered fake dating, twin drama and forced proximity, that all culminated in an enjoyable read.
The storyline of swapping lives was fun to read about and it offered some comical moments along the way. The attraction between Bea & Jonah was instant and the slow burn romance was a steady pace throughout the story. I was really rooting for them throughout, although I really didn't like the way Joanh treated Bea at the end of the book when he just left the flat! The dual narrative really worked, as we got to see their points of views, as well as their thoughts and feelings of not only each other, but other situations also.
I found Dee's character really annoying, although I did warm to her at the end. I thought her story was left on a cliffhanger and I would like to read more from her.
The settings of the book were so lovely and it really painted a beautiful picture of the house and lake, which sounded so picturesque and peaceful.

Tropes: Workplace romance, grumpy/sunshine, mistaken identity, forced proximity,
Dual POV 1st person
It took me a bit to get into this story, especially because at the beginning there are chapters for both sisters. I’m not sure why that threw me so much, other than the fact that their nicknames rhyme and it made it hard for me to keep track of them. But once I got into it, I enjoyed it. It’s a cute book, and I thought the mistaken identity and 3rd act breakup aspects were both handled well (as in believable and not cliched). You could also really feel the chemistry between the MCs.
My only complaint is this is marketed as a “spicy” romance and yeah, there is spice but it’s very very minimal. That’s not a bad thing, I think the story holds up well without much spice but I expected more lol.

DNF. I just couldn't get into this book. I had a hard time with the writing. I don't know how to explain it, but the writing sounded weird. It felt flat and choppy. I also didn't feel connected to Bea's character. Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC.

The book was okay, I enjoyed some parts but the writing in general was a bit flat and I struggled sometimes to differentiate between Bea's and Jonah's chapters, the tone was the same for both characters 🤷♀️
I believe there were some plot holes and a lack of character development that made me feel very meh towards the relationship honestly... and the spice was very underwhelming and dry 😭
also the both the epilogue and Dee's chapter were unnecessary in my opinion 🥲

5 stars
A twin switch-a-roo. I don't know who to root for.
Thakn you Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are of my own

This was an enjoyable romp but I didn’t find it as riveting or entertaining as I expected. I’ve read several books by this author and enjoyed them. I found it difficult to understand why she’s swap with her sister since it was clear she was useless and would have lost the job eventually!
Three stars.

Thanks to Boldwood Books for the widget . This was such a fast and easy read. Bea and her identical sister Dee trade places and Bea goes to work for Jonah. It was fun and breezy and such a cute read cant wait to read more from this author.

Thank you Netgalley for this beautiful read!
It was a very refreshing read for me!!! I had soooo much fun reading along with laughter moments and some deep pondering discussions on relationship dynamics!
The twins, Dee and Bea share a beautiful sister bond which touched my heart to the deepest level. Despite their differences between their parents, they evolved to be a better person along with being a great support to each other!
Jonah is guy with his own baggage but the gradual character development with dee's (Bea) spur of magic was a creative and fun experience to read and his happiness and glow is allllll the worthhhh 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
The tension, the dynamics and the workplace romance between bea and jonah was perfect 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
The writer has done a beautiful job in portray ing the different dynamics between the characters and to connect to them on a personal level!! I adore and admire bea's character extremely much that now she has a permanent place in my heart 💖💖

i wanted to love this book so badly but i could not fully get into it. the writing seemed flat, there were a lot of repetitive moments, the characters lacked development, and the love between the mmc and fmc seemed so forced.
thank you so much to netgalley and boldwood books for the arc copy in exchange for my honest review!

Beatrice Donovan steps into her twin sister Delilah’s hotel management role, only to discover the hotel is failing, and her sister’s responsibilities are far greater than she let on. Tasked with saving the business while avoiding detection, Bea must also contend with her demanding, attractive boss Jonah, an ex-rockstar with a gruff exterior. Despite her efforts to maintain professionalism, Bea begins to uncover Jonah’s softer side, complicating her mission.
Best Mistake Ever explores themes of self-growth, resilience, and boundaries through multiple perspectives, blending romance tropes like enemies-to-lovers and grumpy sunshine. Though pacing issues arise, it’s an engaging story with heartfelt moments.

The story of Bea and Jonah, who meet when Bea is pretending to be her twin, Dee, to stop her losing her job. As Bea and Jonah fall for each other will the truth be revealed? I liked how it was told from both points of view.
