I was really interested to see what this book was like as we have started to use the Grammar Ninja resources in school this year and are finding them really useful across all year groups. One thing we find year on year is that children are not retaining their grammar knowledge and a lot of children still do not understand basic sentence punctuation and hat makes a sentence. One thing I have come to realise is that perhaps it is teacher subject knowledge in the foundation stages of teaching children what a sentence is and knowing what resources and approaches to use to teach this to younger children. This is why I was so interested in this books. I did find it quite difficult to read as a digital copy on my phone and would love to see it in real life, hoping for budget to order one!
This is great because it gives a really clear, detailed subject knowledge as CPD for all teachers whether at the start of their career or experienced and then has resources to support teaching objectives in class.
Absolutely an essential toolkit for any school.

Like all of Andrew Jennings' work, Sentence Ninja is clear, concise and easily transferable into classroom practice. The printable resources echo the structure and use the skills needed in the SATs, without succumbing to death by past paper. I will be buying it to use with my Key Stage 3 intervention students as it has a "back-to-basics" approach without it feeling patronising or babyish for them.

A great addition to The … Ninja series. Starts with information about sentences and what the curriculums of different years cover about sentences, and offers many activities with answers. The structure and the layout make it accessible and practical to learn sentence structures, and the illustrations balance out the information.
I highly recommend the series and this book.
It was ideal for my 9yo child.
