The original of this story was absolutely adorable and showed how everyone has a specialty and reason for being here. However, I couldn’t read this version “winter surprise” because it was a copy of the original. I would love to still get a copy of Winter Surprise when it comes out

The little ghost is quite the special ghost with his patchwork quilt and curious nature. The Little Ghost Quilt’s Winter Surprise tells the tale of a lonely ghost who discovers Christmas and seeks out how to share it with his friends. With detailed, descriptive language, this book is sure to be a hit with early elementary readers. The contrast in the illustrations between the muted background and colorful ghost quilt and Christmas features makes the story even more magical.

I was drawn in for the illustrations because they're just perfect, but I fell in love with the OOPS-de-loop.

This is a gentle story about a little ghost who is a quilt instead of a sheet, and how awesome that is during the wintertime. This little ghost can go outside and play in the snow while his sheet ghost friends get too cold, because they're just sheets. When he discovers that it's Christmas time, he decides to bring the pretty Christmas lights to his sheet ghost friends who are stuck inside. It's such a sweet little story about a ghost who cares about his friends and will do anything to bring them cheer.

The illustrations in this book are remarkable. It feels cold, yet cozy. This takes place at Christmas time, so the Christmas decorations and lights stand out in a stark difference from the cold, monotone background of the environment.

The story is very sweet, and my own little girl got a bit emotional about the sticky situation the quilt ghost finds himself in at one point. However, when we pushed through the story, she was very happy with the ending.

It's a great story for adults to read to children, and it is also a great story for emerging readers to work their way through. There isn't a rhyming scheme, but the story holds up and is easy to follow along with.

"The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise" is an adorable follow up to "The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt" and follows the fun into the Christmas season. Just like the first book, this one is full of beautiful illustrations with just the perfect touches of color. My five-year-old daughter loved the pictures, and we had some great conversations about feelings as we read. The book has a great message of performing kind acts for others and having a sense of togetherness and cheer at the holidays. It's a sweet, cozy little book that provides a great option for bed-time reading, particularly for little ones who like Halloween and ghosts but without the scary factor. So cute, and we'll definitely be looking for a hard copy when it's released later this year.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced read!

The Little Ghost Quilt is going on another adventure and wants you to join him! This time our friend takes us outside on a cold winter day to see what those humans are up to during these long, boring months. We discover playful snowmen, beautiful lights, decorated trees and so much more!! But Little Ghost Quilt wants to share these discoveries at home too, and so a season of discoveries begins again.
Beautiful images and a wonderful story. Perfect for pre-k and up!
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

We loved “The Little Ghost Quilt’s Winter Surprise” by Riel Nason! My preschoolers loved talking about Ghost Quilt’s adventure in the story as well as the different emotions little Ghost Quilt experiences along the way. The illustration on every page was beautifully done with a touch of color here and there.

This was the perfect follow up to The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt where we met our little ghost and watched him overcome sadness at being different than the other ghosts and ultimately embrace his uniqueness at Halloween. This follows up with the little ghost and friends waiting out the cold weather of winter and bringing the Christmas spirit to their haunted house. It was the perfect time of year to read this and made me feel so cozy. This highlights the bonds of friendship and family and how gestures big and small can bring smiles to faces, especially at Christmas time.

Like the last book, the art in this was so detailed. The images brought the winter landscape and Christmas cheer alive.

Thank you Tundra Books for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I love reading children's picture books and this one is no exception. It's cute, cozy, and funny! It had cute ghosty puns that kids will surely love. The art was great and interesting to look at. There was something very nostalgic about this picture book. I'm glad to have read it.

“The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise” is an absolutely delightful book! As someone who has made a few quilts myself, I really enjoyed seeing authentic quilting terms woven into the story. The narrative is both charming and heartwarming, and my daughter and I had such a lovely time reading it together. We’re both eagerly looking forward to getting our hands on a physical copy when it's released!

This was the sweetest little heartwarming story about a little ghost who is different because he is made from a quilt. Though his differences make some things more difficult, those differences also allow him to do things his sheet friends cannot. In the spirit of inclusion, the Little Ghost Quilt finds a way to bring those experiences to his friends so they can celebrate together. A beautiful story of friendship and acceptance.

My almost 4 year old, my 6 year old and I LOVE the Ghost who was a Quilt! When I saw this on Net Galley I knew I had to ask for it! When read this tonight and my children immediately asked for me to read it again!

We will be buying this book!! The writing is amazing for expanding children’s vocabulary. As a preschool educator this book is wonderfully written. The illustrations are exceptional! I loved the Christmas theme but from a Halloween perspective. It was wonderful and I will suggest this to everyone I know!

Thank you Net Galley for the ARC. It was worth every page! My children were so excited! They already want the book at our house!

Thank you NetGalley, Tundra Books, and Riel Nason for the early access copy of The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise.

The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise is a beautifully illustrated picture book about the ghost quilt and his adventures in the cold weather. While the other ghosts who are sheets get too cold in the winter, the little ghost quilt does not. He, for once, doesn't overheat, gets to see what happens in town around the festive season, enjoy the winter, and feels happiness and excitement. The little ghost quilt decides to bring home the beauty of the festive season to his friends who are too cold in the winter the holiday season.

A stunningly illustrated continuation of the beloved character of the ghost quilt will be loved by all. Students adore his character.

I've absolutely loved these first two Little Ghost Quilt books, and I would happily read dozens more! In this adventure, our little ghost quilt is initially sad because his more lightweight friends can't enjoy the winter the same way he can. They chill and freeze and have a generally tough time. But after a stroll through the neighborhood, he takes in all of the beautiful Christmas decorations and admires how everyone is celebrating together. Quick thinking as usual, the little ghost quilt decides that if his friends can't go out for the holidays, he can bring some holiday cheer to them!

This is a lovely addition to this series, and a perfect book for the holiday season. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

A spectacular follow up to the Little Ghost who was a Quilt!

An enchanting story with superb illustrations, huge commendations to both author and illustrator. As a quilter myself I was immediately drawn to the first book in this series and was so thrilled to see this second one. I love the references to the Little Ghost Quilts ‘binding’ and ‘batting’ and how it’s ‘stitches tingled with excitement’.

The story was charming and the illustrations perfectly depicting a cozy winter day, though it would be a delete to read any day of the year.

Absolutely would recommend!

After enjoying, “The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt”, the continuation of its heartwarming tale did not disappoint! A perfect story for cold weather. The beautiful pastels against the sepia background create whimsical illustrations. Would absolutely recommend this book for a cold winter night, reading under a nice warm quilt!

We so enjoyed the first Little Ghost Quilt book and were thrilled to see there was another one. This was such a cozy read that will be perfect for the holiday season-- especially for my youngest who loves ghosts all year long. Much like the first book the illustrations pull you into the setting and the use of color to bring to life the Christmas celebration was such a treat. We loved that Little Ghost Quilt stayed focus on wanting to share the magic with his ghost friends along with all of the details in the illustrations.

A nice follow up to the first book in the series, although you don't really have to read them in order. The artwork is lovely and continues to walk a line between somber and whimsical. Ghost Quilt is again discovering things about his uniqueness and how it impacts his friendships with the other ghosts who are sheets. This one is set around Christmas, so it makes a great gift for littles who may be looking for something that ties together both Halloween and Christmas. And who may not be ready for Jack Skellington and Sally.

All in all, the lessons here are again conveyed softly and with sensitivity. The only thing that I found a bit problematic was that there seemed to be a few jumps in the plot here and there. Nothing major but I did have a moment of pause.

If you are looking for a fun book about ghosts for young ones, and you also want to tackle Christmas, this is a must. If you're looking for a nice story and some pretty pictures for bedtime reading, also a great choice.
