A pretty decent, and quickly-read, young guide to F1 motor racing. It's all that you'd expect – the most dramatic moments, the best drivers and most historic teams, the more memorable tracks and the race highlights on them. There is a lot of blank space and illustration to pad this out, but the text does work as intended, and being from the pen of an ex-racer and now TV journalist whose life has been in parallel with the sport for decades, you know you won't get a lemon. I liked the way this doesn't overload itself with current novelties, but doesn't tie itself exclusively to the years of Fangio, Graham Hill or anyone else – the balance of the sport's history and the sport's present is very nice. Apparently it takes 11,000 individual components to fashion a bespoke F1 car, but they're all pretty useless without the fans, and this will serve those youngsters well.

Even as an adult this was a great comprehensive book full of information. As a new formula 1 fan this year it was great to get to know the basics and I absolutely love Karun Chandhok as now an author and watching him on the tv.

Thanks to Hachette and Karun Chandhok for the advanced copy for review.
If you have a kid on your life that loves formula 1 or is starting to become interested in it then this is a great book. It is an interesting read for kids that showcases the current drivers, cars and teams alongside some of the bigger moments of the sports past (think Senna v Prost etc) but does it in an age appropriate way.
You can tell Karun has kids that love the sport as much as him. The excitement of the sport jumps off the page and he is eager to help kids learn.
The simple graphics and top Trump style cards for certain drivers add to the visual appeal for kids as well.
Overall a great intro to the sport for kids

Although this is a book aimed at children is perfect for anyone wanting to get into F1, wanting to expand their knowledge or just to refresh their knowledge.
It includes everything you need to know from how the sport started, how it got shown on TV, all about the cars, past and present drivers.
I loved how it if included current drivers on the grid along with the greats in the sport with fun facts throughout the book! Especially loved the mention of the previous female F1 drivers and the F1 Academy to include both girls and boys who love this sport.
5/5 stars from me!
Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an e-arc in change for a honest review.
