This was a strong start to the Decepter Voyage series and had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from the genre. I was invested in the world and getting to know the characters in this story. I thought the characters worked well overall and was invested in what was happening to them. K D Austin left me wanting to read more in this series.

I'm sorry to say this, but I had to DNF about 25% into the story. I really tried to stick it thorough, but sci-fi is one of those genres I feel that you really have to explain what things are within your story. The worlds, galaxies, equipment, machinery, etc. which I do not feel the author was doing well and things were a little confusing. The plot seemed like it would go somewhere eventually, but unfortunately it was taking too long to get there and my attention began to wander. I also did not like the constant descriptions and attitude towards the female character, and I normally do not care about this much, but the constant "dainty" "petite" all weak kind of descriptions were just off putting. Maybe some who have been reading sci-fi for a long time and are used to these things will like this as it is more action sci-fi, but it missed the mark for me.
