This is my first read by Lisa Hall so I went in not really expecting much and was presently surprised.
Eight Years Of Lies is a domestic thriller that follows a wife looking for answers after her husband just disappears.
The plot kept my interest and the characters were all fairly relatable.
Overall very well done and worth a read.

I found this fairly underwhelming. A bit dramatic/outlandish and not a super compelling main character. She just abandoned her job and child to chase a gut feeling around the country? Idk. Didn't seem plausible. Dialogue was weak. Adam was the only character I liked.
Overall, very forgettable book and plot. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Eight Years of Lies by Lisa Hall is an immersive domestic thriller about what it means to be family. Claire is (mostly) happily married to Tom and the two have a lovely young daughter, Isla. Tom disappears and Claire is tested to her limit as she discovers a photo of him with Isla online...but someone else is looking for him. She and a friend join forces while her sister takes care of Isla. Their adventures take them to unexpected places as Claire begins to question everything, especially her marriage.
The premise is interesting but some situations aren't convincing or believable. I was also expecting bigger twists and found myself eager for more which didn't come. I like the writing itself and will continue to read more by Lisa Hall. This book was enjoyable but lacked her usual punch.
My sincere thank you to Joffe Books and NetGalley for providing me with an early digital copy of this engrossing novel.

This book was okay. It wasn't memorable or unique. It didn't stand out in any way. There was one twist, and it was mild at best. It was a bit slow too. But overall, it was interesting enough to keep me reading

This is the first book I have read by Lisa Hall, and WOW! I literally could not put this book down. So many unexpected twists and turns. This was a fantastic quick read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

Lisa Hall is the queen of the domestic / psychological thriller. I was kept guessing until the end and was compelled to read Eight Years of Lies in one sitting. Perfect for fans of CL Taylor and Lisa Jewell. 4 stars

Eight Years Of Lies is a psychological thriller that follows Claire as she realizes her entire marriage has been, well, eight years of lies. While scrolling through Facebook, Claire sees a photo of her husband and daughter; however, it is posted by someone else who is claiming them as her family and saying that they are missing. The same day, Claire receives a call from her daughter's school letting her know that her husband has failed to pick up their daughter. Now, days later, her husband is still missing, and Claire has no idea what is happening.
I found Eight Years of Lies to be very slow-paced and quite predictable. Due to the pacing, I don't think I'd even categorize this book as a thriller. The characters are all forgettable, and I honestly didn't even really care what happened to them. Eight Years Of Lies was simply not a book for me.

Goodness me what a ride! The story begins with an intimate glimpse into the lives of married couple Tom and Claire, it's evident that they've been in a bit of a lull as happens in long term relationships but recently things have perked up again and main protagonist Claire is feeling warm, loved and content.
This description of mundane life and the struggle for human connection even within a relationship is superbly captured and sets the scene well for what comes next.
So when Tom goes missing and Claire begins to search for him there is so much to unpack. As a reader it feels like a 50/50 call as to whether he has run off with another woman or if he's being held against his will.
I found myself absolutely racing through the pages as Claire and her ex-boyfriend set off to look for clues in Tom's past that might help establish where he is now. I couldn't help but admire Claire for her dogged determination in tracking down her missing husband - there were so many moments fraught with tension, and several occasions where I found myself muttering 'no no don't do that, oh for god's sake don't do that' as she put herself in seemingly endless amounts of danger.
I loved the amount of doubt that follows Claire and Adam on the journey, doubt of what has happened, doubt of who is involved, and doubt of what they will find when they inevitably do find Tom. Adam was a stellar character, can't say I particularly warmed to Claire or Tom.
Any fans of psychological thrillers will enjoy this book - my thanks to Netgalley, the author and Joffe books for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This was an amazing thriller with lots of suspense.
It kept me guessing till the end, it was full of twists I didn't see coming.
AMAZING PSYCHOLOGY THRILLER

Thriller that was enjoyable. Page turner with characters that mostly made sense. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to review a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review-
A normal morning, my husband heads to work or so I think. He is to pick up our daughter after work. The school calls- no husband picking her up. Where is he? She calls work- he was a no show? What has happened? Scrolling through Facebook she sees a picture of a woman with her husband and child- asking help to find the husband…… her husband!! 8 years of marriage- does she really know her husband??

Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for this advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review. Eight Years of Lies was an average domestic thriller. It was an easy read but not what I was expecting.

Eight Years of Lies
Publish date: February 19
Well-paced and action packed thriller. I really liked how gripping the story was from start and became quickly invested in the outcome.
Claire has been married and has a kid with Tom. One day Tom disappears, and everyone assumes he’s run away from her without a word. Claire knows Tom, and knows he loves their daughter more than anything. Tom would never leave and hurt their family like this. So where is he?
Well done Lisa Hall ! Thank you to both the author, Joffee Books and NetGalley for the review .

A shocking and dark thriller that kept me gripped until the end. The story starts off the same as many novels, then when you least expect it - Wham! The story is full of so many twists and turns. A really good read.

This is a domestic thriller that follows Clare Bennet who is married to Tom and has a daughter Isla. While scrolling through Facebook one day she sees a photograph and a post from a woman asking about the whereabouts of a man and young girl, this sends absolute chills through Clare as she realises that this is HER husband Tom and Isla.
This sets the scene as Clare begins a journey questioning everything about her life, one that she has always presumed is extremely happy. As the story progresses Clare will be thrown into the fight of her life as she tries to discover who this woman is and why her family is pictured in this post.
The premise to the story is interesting but as the book moves forward it all seems a bit too far fetched. The situations that Clare finds herself in do not seem all that plausible and are quite over the top at times, lacking depth to keep me engaged in the plot.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy, all opinions expressed are my own.

The narrative was exceptional, keeping me thoroughly engaged and anxious until the very end, where all elements were resolved in a gratifying manner.

How would you feel if the person you married for the last 8 years was all a lie. This story is just about that.
Claire thought she knew everything about her husband. Her kind husband that will do anything for his wife and daughter. But when Tom goes missing and without the help from the Police, she decides to search for him herself with the help of her ex-boyfriend Adam. She delves into his past, which uncovers things about his past she never knew about. Even his name is not Tom. He real name is Theo.
Eight years of Lies by Lisa Hall is the first book from the author that I have read, and I didn’t know what to expect. But I found this a tense, twisty thriller. With a intriguing original story line. Although saying I didn’t really like the protagonist that much, I found her quite irritating. But I enjoyed the very surprising twist at the end. 4 stars from me.

I envy the husband for getting to walk out in chapter one and not have to experience the rest of this book like I did.
Dialogue is very important to me in books and this one was PAINFUL. Every character was just the same blunt and boring as everyone else, there was no variance in any of them so it was just like a room full of wonderbread slices talking to one another.
As for the actual story, calling this a “psychological thriller” is an insult to people with brains. Thrillers require some level of thrill, not 300 pages of a woman with the personality of wet cardboard running all over kingdom come telling everyone her husband is gone and the equally bland side characters going ‘lol did he leave you?’ There were literal chapters of filler as they ran in circles looking for the same clue, the ending was dumb, and the epilogue did NOT make sense.
I want my money back for this book but I didn’t even pay for it.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the arc of the book! This was a great book that keeps you very intrigued. I didn’t want to put it down and finished it very quickly! Great read and I would definitely recommend!

A brilliant fast paced thriller of a read with good characters.
The storyline was brilliant and I was on the edge of my seat throughout with everything brought to a satisfactory conclusion.
Thank you to Netgalley and Joffe books for this great ARC with an ending you will never guess.
