It happens to her every time. When the kisses lead to the bedroom, just when she thinks she might have found the one… Just for a split second, Maddy disappears, and she finds that she’s living her own life. But ten years from now. She’s only there for a little while. But each time, it’s long enough to know that she doesn’t want to be any of those versions of Maddy. Because every man she falls for seems to lead her to a life that is just… wrong.

Until she meets Oliver. And the vision of what lies ahead for them is happy. A little girl runs around, her braids flying behind her, giggling about how she wants sausages for dinner. She has eyes just like Oliver’s. There’s just one catch. If Maddy wants the life she’s seeing with Oliver, she realises she has to break his heart now.

This is the fourth book from Laura Pearson that I've read, and every single one has been brilliant. The stories are so unique. Heartbreaking in the best way. I highly recommend this to virtually everyone who likes to read! 5⭐

I received an advanced complimentary digital copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed are my own.

I love Laura Pearson’s books! She writes the most thought provoking books and this one was so fun. Imagine, you meet someone, you spend time together and you have sex. Sounds pretty normal right? NOT! Now imagine that each time you end up in bed with someone you get transported ten years in the future and that future does not include the person next to you. What would you do? Enjoy the ride because this one is something special. Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and the amazing Laura Pearson for the advanced copy of this book.

This was a fun read, being able to see Ten years into the future, over and over it leads you to think imagine if you would, what would you do? I enjoyed this and it was a fast read, a little silly at times but the concept was intriging and definitely worth reading!

Imagine, just imagine if you had a vision every time you have sex.
You are instantly transported to 10 years in the future. Are you still with the person that you are currently having sex with? Are you happy? Where are you living? Do you have children or pets?
And if you're not happy with something that you've just seen, would you not just call it a day on the relationship?

This is a truly special book that is written in such a way that you really do feel for Maddy. Essentially, this is a romance but it really is so much more.
The chapters are short and snappy and really made reading about Maddy and her friends and family an absolute pleasure.

I don't believe that I've read anything by this author before but I'd like to rectify this and will certainly be searching for her books the next time that I go to a bookshop.
I shall be recommending this to everyone.

Maddy is a great character and you end up rooting for her. She lives in London with her best friend Priya. They both have hopes and dreams for the future. But Maddy can see her future, every time she sleeps with someone, and it isn’t what she wants. So she stops having relationships and focuses on her acting. When she meets Oliver, she knows this time is different. But is seeing what is going to happen a good thing? Who is the little girl in her visions. Why does she have Priya’s favorite name? Will making changes in her present change something in her future? Maddy’s questions and concerns are realistic and sometimes sad. You end up deciding how it all ends - Pearson leaves it open ended to an extent.

Thought I had lost my reading mojo until I picked up this book, which I devoured in a day. Such a clever and original idea – I got so caught up in the story I really didn't want it to end. A really excellent read which I highly recommend.

A really interesting concept that’s so well written that it’s impossible to put down.
I really enjoyed this and the main character was so likeable and relatable.
What would you do if you could see into the future, just a glimpse of what your life would be like in ten years time? Would you trust the visions, would you trust them enough to make major decisions based on them, and would you trust anyone enough to tell them about the visions?
For such an outrageous idea, this was immensely relatable and written with warmth and compassion. The characters were really likeable and it was really thought provoking.

Imagine being able to live and experience your life in 10 years' time, even though it's only briefly. This is Maddy's life every time she gets intimate with someone. Only everything she sees leaves her feeling unhappy until you meet someone who changes that, Oliver.

So I don't usually read romance unless it's Christmas, but it's Laura Pearson's new book, so I've made an exception. What I love about Laura's stories are that they're so easy to read, filled with emotion and thought-provoking.

The Many Futures of Maddy Hart is a beautifully written book with a unique story that really gets you thinking about what you would do if you were in Maddy's shoes. I loved Maddy, I felt every bit of emotion she went through, the happiness she experiences, and also the gut-wrenching sadness, too. I may have shed a tear or two. The connection between her and her best friend Priya and her family was lovely. Then there is Oliver, the perfect man, the man every woman wants to be with.

The writing style and the short chapters make this story flow so easily that you forget your reading. I was so sad this book had to come to an end, especially how it ended. It's left up to you as a reader to decide the fate of Maddy's future, which I actually loved.

Ultimately, it is a romance story, but it is so much more. I enjoyed the magical realism element of this book. It had me thinking about whether our lives are predestined or whether we have free will over our own destiny.

Thank you, Boldwood Books, for my advanced copy.
My opinions are my own.

Maddy Hart has something strange happen to her when she has sex. She can see ten years into the future with her current partner. As a result, her relationships don’t last for long but then she meets Oliver. As she flips between the present and the future she realises that her decisions now can inform the outcome of the future. It’s a bit silly in places but it’s an enjoyable read.

It happens every time… Maddy finally connects with someone physically and then has a moment viewing their future together. They always seem so wrong.. until she meets Oliver.

While a bit of romance in this one, it’s more of a women’s contemporary fiction, with a touch of magic realism. I loved the scenes in the future and the concept behind it. Honestly this would have been a five star read except I needed more. It ended a little abruptly for my taste and their were unanswered questions, which I get was purposeful but personally I need my fiction tied up with a neat bow. I still highly recommend this one!

“Perhaps this is what it is, to be a parent. Questioning every decision, every possibility. I feel the weight of holding her childhood in my hands, wanting to make it good enough.”

The Many Futures of Maddy Hart comes out 2/4.

A unique and interesting take on time travel. A thought provoking story as usual by Laura. A beautifully written book.

Maddy Hart has a gift—or maybe it’s a curse? Every time she sleeps with someone, she’s flung 10 years into the future for a brief moment. After a few discouraging experiences, she swears off relationships entirely—until she meets Oliver. He’s almost too good to be true. But can Maddy handle the glimpses of the future and trust that these visions don’t have to define her destiny?

Maddy’s character drove me a little nuts at times. Her unwavering belief in these visions gave her a bit of a “playing god” vibe, and there were moments when I didn’t like her very much. That said, the premise of the story was intriguing and fun. It really makes you think: What would I do if I could catch a glimpse of my future?

Overall, this was an enjoyable read that left me pondering the “what ifs” in life.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Another thought provoking concept from Laura Pearson.

Madder has a vision of herself in 10years time every time she has sex. Most off putting I’m sure. She sees where that relationship will take her and for most of the men in her life it’s enough to end things there and then.

This was a really interesting storyline and I loved seeing how it played out.

Can’t wait to see what Pearson comes up with next!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the copy to review.

🕰Another moving triumph😍

Laura Pearson's novels fill a unique space on my bookshelf with their clever use of magic realism and deeply moving plots. Maddy Hart's story grabbed me from the first chapter and never let go.

Maddy is certain that her unique ability to get a brief vision of what her life will be ten years hence if she's with the man she's taken to her bed is prophetic, not just a daydream or fantasy. And this certainty shapes her life, allowing her to shy away from romance and leave most men after one encounter. Until she finds a wonderful male roommate and fellow actor named Oliver who might be the one.

Maddy's forays into a future with Oliver lead to a heart wrenching decision that no one but her BFF Priya (the only one Maddy has told about her visions) can understand. I really felt for Oliver, because the profound effect of her decision falls so heavily and unexpectedly on him and it seems there's no way he can stop it.

I saw the ending of the book as not disappointing so much as uncertain. A reader can take the givens and decide what is in store in ten years' time.

I love Pearson's writing and her novel ways of bringing the joys and sorrows of life to the page. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Well written; a bit more romancy than I usually prefer, but the seeing-the-future thing was such an interesting ‘angle’ that I really, really enjoyed the story.
BUT.
I absolutely hated the way it ended. No spoilers; but, for me, the ending just ruined the whole book. .

Maddy has visions of herself in the future and it has really put her off relationships until she meets Oliver. The glimpses of her future with Oliver are brief and intriguing. The story is told mostly in the present with the reader joining Maddy on her visits ten years into her future. There are so many layers to this story that explores a variety of relationships from friendship, romance and family. Definitely recommend.
