This book is fine. A young child watches their grandmother write letters, but thinks it’s boring. Then grandma and the child go on a wild adventure, and he has reasons to write his own letters. I like the idea behind this book, but the fact that he’s writing letters to aliens doesn’t really help with a lesson on why letters are important. I like this book, but it could’ve been better.

Grandma's Letter Exchange is about a young boy learning to write letters like his grandma. The book could be paired with imaginative play or a letter writing unit.

As a letter writer myself, I was interested in seeing how this book would inspire littles to continue writing letters. I was surprised by the aliens being the ones to receive the kid's letters but it was still a cute story. I like that it gave a few ideas for kids of what to write in letters.

Grandma's Letter is about a boy who likes spending time with his Grandma even though she spents quite alot of that time writing letters which he doesn't understand why. It is not until Grandma builds a rocket and visits some friends in space that he gets it and starts to write letters of his own. The illustrations were bright and fun to look at and I think this would be a great addition to any little's library.

Hmmm… A kid likes spending time with his gran, even if she likes spending time writing letter after letter after letter, which he finds a boring idea. And so what does she do? Build a rocket ship, and take him to visit some aliens, thus forcing the kid to write to keep in touch with his new friends. Er, yeah. I think you see the distance between worthy purpose and execution – there is no real logic to this at all, and anything other than a gang of Martians could have inspired the letter-writing habit. There's not even an attempt to make it all a dream via cop-out. Well-mean nonsense, all told – most unfortunately; one and a half postcards from the stars.

I thought this was really cute. Kids these days don’t even realize how special getting mail is because everything is digital. The illustrations were well done and I loved the instructions to writing a letter at the end. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Grandma's Letter Exchange is about a boy who does not understand how his grandma could possibly be writing letters all the time. He thinks it's rather boring, up until Grandma has a rocket ship and they make alien friends he wants to be pen pals with. Honestly, the rocket ship threw me a bit, but the story and illustrations were still cute.

Thanks to Zog Land and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

Letters for a Cause

I love that the dedication addressed that some of the profits from the book will support Love For Our Elders, a nonprofit the author started to fight loneliness one letter at a time.

The illustration had a variety of color and realistic shapes when it came to trees. The scenes definitely got exciting at the midpoint of the book.

Jake and his Grandma, Doris, will inspire the audience to write. This would couple great with handwriting curriculum, grandparents day, pen pal programs and so much versatility to incorporate.

I think this book would tie in well in a classroom or community outreach initiative.

I received a free copy of this book from Jacob Cramer and Zog Land. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the eARC! This is a cute story about how grandma writes letters to her friends and her grandson starts writing letters too. I like the illustrations throughout the book- very colorful but not too overstimulating. The adventure they go on too is fun and I think kids will enjoy going on the adventure too!

I very much enjoyed this book. Writing letters and receiving them seem like so much fun. Jake seemed like writing letters once he made his new friends. Other kids would enjoy this.

This is a cute way to teach kids that letter-writing is something fun and it is a way to connect with other people (in this case not people though!). I liked the concept, but the illustration felt a little flat sometimes.

As someone who just got back into writing letters and having penpals this book was super cute. I wasn't expecting the friends his grandmother had to be aliens so that was an interesting twist and something that will catch young kids attentions. The graphic were quirky and cute, that I was smiling the whole book. Writing letters is such a fun activity that I feel like all kids no matter the age should experience because you can learn new things from whoever you are writing with.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. I find the idea very interesting as we live in a society where we don't send letters anymore, we text or use other social networks. Kids should learn how to write letters . So, this book is for parents and teachers as well, adults who want to encourage kids to write letters. But, I think the story needs more consistency, it sometimes appear void, it was as if it had been written quickly. Maybe, it needs to be more elaborated, but that is my view!

There is not enough here for a cohesive story. It is two stories in one that are not woven together properly. If it could have been finished better in the merging of ideas it would have been a great book.

Grandma’s letter exchange is a cute short story of a boy who learns about letter writing from his grandmother. The thought behind this book is really great where a young boy who does not know the joy of letter writing learns it from their grandma. That truly is a great skill and hobby one must learn.

It is a good bedtime read for kids and does have that little element of adventure. However, the why do write letters and discovering the joy of letter writing could have been shown in a better way.

I would recommend this for grandparents and kids to read this together and maybe also explore other things that bring joy. Thanks to NetGalley and Zog Land for the ARC!

This is very cute but I'm not sure what the lesson is here. It's also not very evident that space is involved, I'm assuming so that it's a surprise but I think if the cover hinted at it you may get more parents buying it for children that love space!
