There were certainly some interesting points in here, but they were amongst a lot of waffles I wish this book would help me but I did not connect how I expected

With its under 200 Pages and its varied Page Design this book has been very informative to Read. Rather you are a Person that is affected by Depression first Hand or maybe a Familymember that just wants to understand it better you cant go wrong with this Book. It felt like a rather light Psychology Book to me and didnt over Explain things, its short Chapters also benefitet me personally to stay engaged with the Infromations i received. The Poems and Quotes at the beginning of some Pages also loosen up the Heavy Topic

This book is very dense - and does bombard the reader with information. Not necessarily the right thing to do when they could be suffering from depression.
I think this book would have been more beneficial if it was in smaller chunks, that you could dip in and out of.

There were certainly some interesting points in here, but they were amongst a lot of waffle - so it was sometimes hard to fish out the useful bits.

I applaud the author for sharing their extremely personal journey. It's not easy to lay a lot of your dark corners out for strangers to scrutinize. I also appreciate the exercises and questions the author has us ask ourselves. I give it 3.5 stars because although the authors life is interesting, it felt more like a brag book at times of the things they've done. The book could be shorter and more impactful by sticking with depression and not travels. This book is unflinching which I appreciate but if you aren't ready to look at your depression head on this might not be the book for you.

Unfortunately, not for me because it is very surface level.
I hope others find more value in this. A couple of meditations and perspectives were cool.

The author uses his experience as the basis for this self help book but I actually found it rather triggering and it made me feel worse. Not only did I not relate to his particular experience but it got me in a very dark place reading about his overwhelming dark thoughts and feelings of suicide when I already am struggling with my own depression. It appears that this author usually writes about demons and he does not seem to have clinical training in psychology, and I worry that this book could have a harmful effect on some who are really struggling.

In "Finding Your Path Through Depression," author, Richard Gilpin asks the reader to consider mindfully acknowledging their depression and using meditation to manage one's feelings. Through poems, stories, and his own experience, he relays that depression can be managed through meditation and mindful practices. While I appreciate the author sharing his experience, and the mindful based practices that he provides, I felt that there was little new information provided in this book. I am thankful for Gilpin sharing his personal stories because that does help one feel no so alone.
