This was a strong fourth book in the Lonely Island series, it had that feel that I enjoyed from the previous three books in this series. I enjoyed the way Maggie Allder wrote this and was able to create a tense atmosphere that I was looking for.
Maggie Allder has been writing about her lonely island - En-Somi - for several years now and it is always a special treat to read a new book by her.
Maggie brings special qualities to her writing evoking both the beauty of the landscape she has created with the awful paradox of climate change threatening to bring a near idyllic island lifestyle to a devastating end.
The author has the same ability as the late, great Hammond Innes to create ordinary people who suddenly find they need to become heroes.
These novels are authentic and written with honesty and integrity creating a compelling saga which is highly addictive reading.
Life is never quiet for long on the island of En-Somi. As the youngsters study for their exams & entertain themselves the adults get on with the myriad tasks that make their island life run smoothly. Young Elin is musical, happy writing songs & being tutored by the island's bard. She looks as if she may be the first female to hold this post when Olaf can no longer continue. But Elin is just thirteen & like any teen wants to spread her wings. She becomes involved with one of the rich island boys, one with a very bad reputation & when she disappears the residents of the village of Hus will not give up on finding her- no matter how long it takes!
I just love this series of books! Maggie Allder has created a wonderful setting and community & I do hope there will be more stories from the Lonely Island. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.
