Going into this book, I anticipating a similar experience to Operation Paperclip but with the Soviets. While at times it did have interesting bits of how the Soviets went to great lengths to find scientists capable of improving their rocket program, the story as a whole left me wanting more. The gutsy kidnapping of a British scientist from an airfield was fascinating and the island where he was brought to work on guidance systems had appealing parts. The problem is, for me at least, so much dialogue. Dialogue during stories is great when it feels like it progresses the storyline or character development but it seemed at times to just be conversational filler. Others might enjoy the banter and such but to me it kind of bogged down the story at times. Interesting premise but could have been executed better in my opinion but for most it's still worth picking up as I haven't seen any other books about this specific topic.

this book was pretty good. I will say it was extremely dense and technical but that is kind of expected with this type of book. I think it was still informative and I definitely learned a thing or two from reading this.

Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!
