I don't read a lot of non-fiction and each time I do, I tell myself I must read more!
I found this book easy to read and filled with many practical tips for new writers or those considering trying their hand at writing and publishing. It's divided into logical sections and essentially walks you through each step of the writing process from inspiration for ideas, how to create a workspace that helps you write, how to learn how to write and developing a routine for your writing. There are additional areas of the book dedicated to specifically writing novels, non fiction, autobiography, memoirs, poetry and screen plays. It also details how to edit, have your writing reviewed and the different publishing pathways. It really does cover the entire process in a logical sequence.
A great resource for anyone who is considering taking up writing, with the benefit of being an enjoyable read. As an aspiring writer, i thought this was an incredibly useful text.
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this great book.
Finally, a book that centers on seniors and retirees who want or need to write. It’s all here. Everything from the practical everyday information you need to start your writing journey here and now, to the incentive to keep going while enjoying every minute of the creation process. This book is the perfect go to writing book that will help you start and continue through the wonderful adventure of finding your own voice and putting your thoughts together.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever thought of getting a late start in writing and wondering if they can or should. You most certainly can, and you definitely should
This book is exactly what it says it is and is quite a comprehensive volume that any writer might want on their shelf. It is both readable and informative and gives the reader plenty to chew on.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. It's just what a budding writer needs!
An easy to read, fairly comprehensive guide to writing in retirement. This book would help all kinds of writers, at all stages of their writing journey.
While the title might give you the impression that this book is only for those in retirement, The Next Chapter: Writing in Retirement is an excellent/comprehensive guide that is a great starting point for anyone interested in writing a book. Julie A Gorges has done an great job of covering all the bases, no matter what type of book you’d like to write (novel, poetry, memoir, start a blog, how-to, or whatever strikes your fancy) she’s got advice on how to begin, where to draw inspiration from, and plenty of examples of people that started late in life but still managed to find success/happiness in their endeavors. No matter what your reason for wanting to write, this book will supply you plenty of inspiration. I’d like to thank I-Form Ink Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an eARC of The Next Chapter.
