Thank you NetGalley! This was an amazing book! It was a short, fast paced read. I throughly enjoyed the plot. My first by Ruby Speechley. I will definitely be checking it her others.

First book from this author. AMAZING
I couldn't put the book down, finished in one day. Kept me guessing through the whole book. Definitely recommend

Two and a half stars rounded up. Ruby Speechley’s “The Uninvited Guest” had a good premise, in line with other thrillers I’ve read. Megan is engaged to Jamie and they’re headed to their hen and stag parties for the weekend. Even before Megan leaves for her hen party with one of her friends, she receives a threat at her parents house.
As Megan tries to determine who may not want her to get married, she arrives at the house that’s been reserved for the weekend. Shortly after arriving at the house, a female named Beth shows up, claiming to be Jamie’s cousin from Australia. As the weekend progresses, along with the hen-related games and activities, Megan receives more threats and begins to question everyone around her, even her closest friends.
Overall, this book did not work for me. I found Megan to be unlikable, gullible, and started thinking “I hope the wedding doesn’t occur.” At one point, I even wondered if the author intended the book to be satire rather than a thriller. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my ARC.
Spoilers below…
Megan questions Jamie’s faithfulness to her several times, but the reader (and her friends) know she cheated on him with her ex, Ryan. Megan gets a “thoughtful apology” from Beth (Brooke) and mentions liking her, but then goes back to snark and bitterness. She talks about wanting to keep Lauren and Beth (Brooke) around and then a couple pages later she’s confronting Beth (Brooke) and telling her she should leave the hen house. Last, less than an hour before her wedding, Megan leaves the hotel rather than calling Lauren because she needs to see her “face-to-face.”

Thanks to NetGalley for this advanced copy in exchange for review.
I read this in a day so it’s definitely a quick, pacy read. Despite a few far-fetched moments it had some excellent twists and a great ending. There were lots of reminders why not to attend a Hen party too.
Overall a quick and easy read and I’d read more from this author.

This was such an interesting read. I loved the twists and turns and it kept me guessing until the very end. I will be definitely looking at more books from this author

Ruby Speechley is one of my favourite authors so when I seen this I couldn’t wait to read it I knew I was going to be in for a thrilling read. It was full of twists and turns which I didn’t see coming I loved how well written the characters were and how the story just flowed throughout.
Megan is getting married to Jamie father to her daughter they are both having hen and stag dos on the same night. Megan is a bit on edge as she is keeping a massive secret from Jamie. So when Beth crashes the hen party claiming to be Jamie’s cousin Megan lets her join in the celebrations. But then Megan starts receiving threatening messages and other strange things happening she wonders if she can trust Beth or any of her friends.
This was definitely a suspenseful read which kept me on edge from start to finish and wow what an ending it was. I loved everything about this book and I can’t wait to recommend it to everyone. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this great book.

Firstly thank you to the publishers for my early access in exchange for a review.
I’ve reviewed a few of this authors books and this is definitely one of their strongest .
Thought provoking and well written

Ruby Speechley delivers a gripping psychological thriller in The Uninvited Guest, a story filled with suspense, secrets, and shocking twists. The book revolves around Eliza, a woman on the cusp of happiness, whose life takes a dark turn when a stranger arrives at her door, setting off a series of events that threaten to unravel her carefully constructed world.
Speechley’s writing is immersive, pulling readers into Eliza’s life as the tension builds. The narrative weaves between past and present, revealing layers of betrayal and deceit, keeping readers guessing about the true intentions of the “uninvited guest.” The emotional depth of the characters adds to the story’s intensity, making it more than just a thriller—it’s also a poignant exploration of trust, fear, and resilience.
The pacing is excellent, with twists that feel both surprising and well-earned. Speechley masterfully maintains suspense until the final pages, delivering a conclusion that leaves readers questioning how well they truly know the people around them.
If you enjoy psychological thrillers with complex characters and unexpected turns, The Uninvited Guest is a must-read. It’s a chilling reminder that the past often has a way of catching up with us, no matter how deeply we try to bury it.

As with all of Ruby's books I've been fortunate to read, I flew through this one. They are very fast paced and keep you gripped.
There so many moments where I pointed at each of the characters thinking is it you and I love that it kept me guessing.
Definitely looking forward to my next Ruby read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A week away from their wedding Jamie and Megan are having their independent stag and hen do’s. When an uninvited guest shows up at Megan’s things go wrong. Megan has received threats so she is on edge to start with. The author did a great job unraveling the secrets at the right time. I was horrified at the way Megan’s “friends” treated her.u favorite part of the book was the dialogue between the characters.

This was such a great book from the start to the end. I loved the characters and the mystery and suspense. It had me on the edge of my seat and I wanted more when I was finished.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest opinion.

A fast paced twisty thriller that is very entertaining. The plot unfolds quickly and is very entertaining, the characters are a little one dimensional but entertaining enough. I did want to shake megan a few times for being so dense!

Awesome book!! Great author! Will be looking for more!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got this book as an early release through NetGalley! I had never read anything from this author before, but I can’t wait to get my hands on more of her books because this was amazing!
I normally listen to my NetGalley books in the car and at the gym, but this book was so good I had to read it as soon as it got good! I couldn’t stop reading once I got about half way through! This book had a little bit of everything, but I never saw the end coming!
Look for this book to hit the shelves Feb. 10th, 2025

It was very fast paced but wasn’t really a triller to me. It was pretty hilarious so I’d probably call it a comedy mystery? I very much enjoyed the book I just wouldn’t consider it a psychological thriller because the main character was way too stupid.

Such a good read. Keeps you on your toes the whole time!! I could not put this book down!!! Can’t wait to read more by this author !!

This was definitely a fast-paced so-called psychological thriller. In all honesty, I thought the entire thing was humorous and rather than psychological I felt it was more satire. Had I been expecting Satire this would have been a 5-star read.
The entire thing was unbelievable, I never felt that it was suspenseful and guessed each thing as it happened. I didn't really like any of the characters I felt they were all FAKE. I think it is because I really hated the MC (Megan) She was gullible and not really likeable. If I would have been Danielle, or Sarah at the hen party I would have probably punched her myself. She was an entitled "witch". I think if I would have liked her a little more and this would not have been deemed a psychological thriller I would have liked it a lot more.
Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for an advanced readers copy of this book!

Twists, turns, and so, so much suspense. This is my first read from Ruby Speechley and I must say that I am already craving more! Must-read!

The book started out interesting, however very unbelievable. Far fetched how easy it was for everyone to manipulate Megan. I would have given this book a higher rating because it did hold my attention, until the end. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this book.

So, this book def held my attention and I liked it, but I find it hard to believe ANYONE that just that DUMB! These grandparents have to be the worst babysitters in the world. Megan is extremely gullible and kind of stupid to believe Beth and everything everyone else tells her. Why would you keep people around after they basically assault you and put it on social media? I love her books, but it is soooo far fetched! What are the odds that this one person would find all the psycho people in the world that wanted to get to her; people with no connections to each other? And the ending....ruined the book for me. I dropped my rating just by the last couple of chapters.
