This a really cute how to draw book. I also love how different this how to draw is more fun, and is away from the “norm”. I think kids and adults will really love this.

If you have little to no trouble following the steps, it will let you create some very cute fantasy creatures and animals as well as people in various poses.
The step-by-step instructions can be difficult to follow since they are not very detailed. It will tell you to do this and do that, but not how to do it, so you would need to already have some basic knowledge. It will ask for the shape of a circle or a triangle, but the shapes on the image have already been altered from that basic shape and sometimes don't resemble it much, which can be overwhelming or confusing, so it's not very friendly to absolute beginners or young children. I like doing step-by-step drawing books with my 6-year-old niece, but the samples were on the small side and she needed a longer and more detailed explanation. It should be fine for older kids, young teens, and generally people with some experience since it won't explain shapes or proportions. If you follow carefully, by the end you'll get the hang of it and it'll come easier by mere practice.

It gives a quick color overview at the start and that is all you get on coloring.

The characters with the drawing steps are super cute, I love them all. The descriptions of the steps are very descriptive. Since it is explained in simple, tiny steps, it can be easily drawn even if the number of steps is high. It will be quite enjoyable even for beginners.

If you like to draw and are looking to move to drawing human or fantasy characters, this might be the book for you! Inside you will find tips and tricks to drawing faces, limbs, clothing, and some fantasy elements. I really like that it’s a step-by-step guide because I’m not the best at drawing people, and they break it down in a way that’s not overwhelming. While I picked up the book because I’ve been a fan of Naomi’s artwork for years, learning new things about drawing people and fantasy elements was a nice bonus.

I scribble from time to time and if I set my mind on it are able to work out a good sticker concept. But mostly I stick to objects and plants because I haven't tried myself on animals and humans.

But I want to learn and the "Cute Fantasy Art Class" by Naomi Lord promised a style I always wanted to try out. And I can say that I liked very much how we were talked through the steps and different ways of drawing characters and animals, body shapes, clothes and color theory in a coherent cute way.

I tried out some of the characters and found it very helpful how the drawing was broken down into doable steps and I learned a lot during trying myself out. I will try to continue drawing in this style and go from there I had a lot of fun!

I love the key page. So many adorable creatures, but it is definitely for a more advanced artist than me. I am not sure if the techniques are easy to follow because not long into the book I just sat back and enjoyed the adorable DnD characters.

This book was so cute! The first thing I noticed was the art style and I loved it, the way the characters are adorable and seem to have their own personality. Then I started following some of the tutorials in the book and I was amazed. It felt so incredibly easy to draw the characters with such detailed step-by-step instructions as well as so much inspiration to make your own character.
Thank you to Netgalley and Naomi Lord for the ARC copy. All opinions are my own.

The book “Cute Fantasy Art Class-Mystical Anime Besties - Learn to Draw over 50 Charming Characters” by Naomi Lord gives step by step drawing tutorials for fantasy characters in a cute style.

The tutorials are easy to follow and offer a great variety of classes and species. The artist's signature style is cute, simple and leaves enough room to customize the characters to your liking.

I would recommend this book for entry level artists wanting to bring their fantasy creatures and pen & paper characters to life.

A big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher Quarto Publishing Group- Rock Point for giving me the opportunity to read an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is an amazing little book with detailed descriptions and step by step tutorials on how to draw cute fantasy characters.
It's fairly easy and straight forward to follow along with - my 7 year old daughter was able to draw a few of the characters very easily and was impressed by the level of attention and detail to the personalities.
Highly recommend if you enjoy the cute style of characters, or just want to draw some fantasy characters of your own or for a D&D session.
Instructions were very clear and concise, and I appreciated that you don't need to follow with just digital art programs but with traditional art supplies as well.

This was beyond cute! The characters themselves were adorable and there were a lot of different ones.

The instructions were clear, detailed, and easy to follow. This made it accessible to someone like me who doesn’t draw.

The characters each had a unique description which would appeal to fantasy or D&D fans. I shared this with my D&D group who immediately wanted to draw their characters as cute creatures.

Absolutely adorable art and How-Tos that made me want to start drawing again!
While it is obviously very focused on a more chibi-type of art, it is a helpful tool for character design creation.

Super cute and great instructions. Guides you through, step-by-step, in a very detailed way, explaining how to draw all these wonderful characters yourself.

My only critique would be that you only learn how to draw these specific characters. I was expecting more of a toolbox to mix and match your own creations using this specific style. Also, the steps are the same for a lot of the characters. It gets a bit repetitive after you've tried drawing a few. Maybe a few pages at the start detailing these instructions would have been better than filling pages with the same over and over again.

As someone who isn’t a very good artist I found this book and the instruction guide to be quite helpful. It was fun to sketch the characters in the book

I absolutely adored this Art Class book!

The characters are adorable, and the step-by-step instructions are detailed and precise. I appreciate how the book encourages using forms and shapes as the foundation for drawings instead of just focusing on outlines.
This book is a fantastic introduction for anyone interested in developing their illustration skills. It's also a great stepping stone for designing and illustrating unique and fun fantasy characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the eARC of this title.

An utterly adorable book to assist with making chibi, anime style fantasy characters. I would suggest that this book is better for inspiration for high beginner or intermediate artists rather than a beginner's book on how to draw. While each character has a step by step instruction on how to draw them, it is in the one pose with one outfit. The introduction does touch on altering how a character stands, and changing facial expression, outfit, and accessories, it is very high level and doesn't go into deep explanation. The book is very encouraging, and has quite a variety of characters to choose from. The character key at the beginning makes finding the character you wish to practice drawing quick and easy. I would say this book is good to use if you are looking to try a new style or have a step by step instruction for specific characters, but may be frustrating for those new to drawing. I read this digital ebook through NetGalley.
