ARC BOOK REVIEW 📖

Name:Three little lies by Danielle Stewart
Publishing Date: March 13, 2025
Favorite Quote: "It's bothersome to me that my brain requires this much emotional extinguishing to the fires I set in there. I am the arson and the firefighter when it comes to the ebbs and flows of anxiety. Some days I can let that controlled burn do it's job and other days, I die in the smoke."

A must read! It is very rare for me to have a 'cant put down book' but wow was this one of them! First book I think I finished in a day.

Super well written and a plot I didn't see coming!

Original I was getting The Orphan vibes especially with the 'little incidents' but as I was nearing the end I was completely caught off guard!

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for providing me e-ARC of "Three Little Lies" in exchange for an honest review.
also Thank you Danielle for writing this mindblowing and addictive book.
.
two words only: PAGE TURNER
The moment I started reading this I was hooked, it was gripping since the first chapter, and especially the first half of the book was literally so addictive that if I had a physical copy of this I would be devouring it tbh. The chapters were short, the writing was easy (not too complicated to focus on), characters were interesting. Everyone has their own story despite being a single POV, which I usually dislike, this was way too good.
.
I got kind of distracted after the first half cause of personal reasons but i enjoyed it sm and it felt like such a great way to start the year. I would be highly recommending this on my social media platforms and looking forward to more of Danielle's writing.

Action packed, quick moving domestic thriller. Quick afternoon read. Kept me interested from beginning to end, even if I didn’t agree with the ending. I had a roller coaster of emotions reading this!

Jo, the seemingly perfect wife and mother, volunteers to take in teenage exchange student, Eden. Her daughter forms a bond with Eden, and problems soon arise. With tension mounting in the household, Eden goes missing. Jo’s husband Everett declares his innocence in her disappearance, but as the investigate progresses, Jo learns everyone has secrets.

Wow!! That was a great read!! A slow build up for the first bit but then I couldn’t put it down for the second half of the book! Fantastic, twisty read and I’ll definitely try more books by this author.

Three Little Lies is a gripping domestic thriller that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The story centers around a family who hosts an exchange student, but as secrets unravel, it becomes clear that everyone has something to hide. The plot is full of unexpected twists, which kept me on the edge of my seat. While none of the main characters were particularly likeable, I found the suspense and tension so engaging that it didn’t detract from my enjoyment. A few plot holes aside, this was an entertaining and thrilling read.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the advanced copy!

Three Little Lies grabbed my attention from the first chapter. The main character, Jo, is a stay at home mom caring for her 12 year old daughter and 8 year old son. Her husband, Everett, is away most of the time due to frequent travel with his CTO position.

Jo is well put together and manages her home and children solo. She’s struggling with her oldest, who is becoming increasingly difficult and moody. When a parent at her children’s school suggests Jo’s family hosts an exchange student from England, Jo thinks this is exactly what her daughter needs for a positive influence.

The adjustments are difficult when Eden, the 17 year old exchange student, arrives. Jo is very overprotective and runs the house rigidly and at times is stifling.

Their world falls apart when Eden goes missing one night. Jo and Everett both have secrets that they don’t want exposed. They’re trying desperately to keep things hidden while still trying to help find Eden.

I read this book in one day. It had a great pace and kept my interest throughout. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and look forward to reading other books written by her.

ARC Review: Three Little Lies by Danielle Stewart

As a mom of a preteen, this story was incredibly relatable right from the start, delving into the struggles of parenting an angsty middle schooler who wants to grow up a little too fast.. I really enjoyed how this donestic thriller unfolded in such a believable and engaging way from beginning to end. Even though I read a lot of thrillers, I couldn’t predict the ending—it was genius!

Danielle Stewart’s writing style reminded me of Frieda McFadden’s—it’s easy to read and grabs your attention immediately. However, this book stands out for being more heartwarming, delving into the lengths a mother will go to protect her children.

Don’t sleep on Danielle Stewart!!! If she keeps writing them like this she’s sure to be a bookstagram favorite in no time.

Loved it! ★★★★☆

A story about a wife and husband with two different secrets that would possibly destroy their family and marriage. The wife decide to house a foreign exchange student and the drama starts. A fast pace read that edges on implausibility.

The connection the author tried to make with the wife secret and how it impacted her actions was flawed.

The daughter/mother relationship was insufferable. The son didnt add anything to the storyline and he was forgotten towards the end of book.

Thank you netgallery or the ARC.

A fabulous story of secrets, self-preservation, and sacrifice, this book hooked me from the very first page. I devoured it in a single day, the tension practically leaping off the pages. I was constantly guessing who was keeping what secrets and eagerly anticipating how they would unravel.

The characters were wonderfully complex, but as most of the story is told through Jo's perspective, she stood out as the most relatable and layered. A fiercely protective mother, Jo valued control above all—but at what cost? She was painfully aware of her role in her internal struggles and knew that resolving them was a battle she had to fight alone. As she put it: "I'm the arson and the firefighter when it comes to the ebbs and flows of anxiety."

Each family member's lies were integral pieces of a larger puzzle. Watching these secrets unfold raised a compelling question: How would the family rebuild itself after such revelations? They came to realize that some circumstances in life were beyond their control, and while their coping mechanisms were flawed, there was hope. By striving to do the right thing, they found a way to rebuild and move forward.

The writing flowed beautifully, and the single narrator worked perfectly for this story. I also appreciated the brief changes in perspective toward the end, which wrapped up the narrative in a satisfying way. While the conclusion wasn’t happy for everyone, it was deeply impactful and true to the story's themes.

This was truly a page-turner, delving into the lengths we go to protect our loved ones and the far-reaching consequences of our choices. I loved every moment and can’t wait to explore more of this author’s work!

A huge thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Three Little Lies. I could not stop thinking about what might happen next while reading this book. From the initial twists and turns of the life of an affluent family to the turmoil caused by decisions of the past, Danielle Stewart weaves a beautiful story of redemption and unforeseen understanding. The last twist I just did not see coming and I still can’t figure out how! It was beautiful to see a character as a mother dealing with anxiety issues that so many work through every day. Now I need to find myself more Danielle Stewart books!

What a thrilling and twisty read! A domestic thriller full of deceit and lies that need unravelling.

I was hooked from the prologue, where we meet our protagonist at her home, which is identified as a crime scene for an unexplained reason - “We are now that house, that family, caught in a storm of police lights and whispered suspicions”.

Mostly told from the perspective of Josephine Marie Hargrove, usually known as Jo - a ‘lifelong rule follower’, a dedicated mother to Ashton and Megan, and a supportive wife to Everett. Jo gets talked into welcoming a foreign exchange student, Eden, into her home and many unintended consequences follow.

This had a well-paced plot, with plenty of interesting characters. I enjoyed the unexpected twists and the unveiling of several truths. Jo was realistically depicted as an anxious ‘helicopter parent’.

With many thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the digital review copy, for review consideration with an honest review.

This is the first book I have read by Danielle Stewart, and after reading this one, I am excited to read more of her psychological thrillers.

3/5 ⭐️
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC of "Three Little Lies" by Danielle Stewart.
This was a fun and easy to read thriller, and I really enjoyed it. The opening scene was quite intriguing, but I felt like the story could have been executed better, and the pace of the story could have been better. I did see some of the twists coming, but the others I didn't see coming. The ending wasn't how I had imagined, which I was a little bit disappointed in, but I loved how they all came together in the end, and everything turned out well.
If you want a fun and suspenseful thriller to read, I can highly recommend this one.

I have a feeling this won’t be my last read by this author. The story was amazing with lies, deceit and more lies…the plot twists were crazy and it was a real page turner full of suspense and kept me wanting to read on. It was engaging with excellent character development. I would highly recommend to anyone that loves a good thriller/mystery.

I’m getting more and more into mystery/thriller/crime/suspense (I don’t know what the actual genre of these are called lol) and I really enjoyed this one. I did not see a single thing coming, like AT ALL which is great!

I really enjoyed the ease of the writing and the quick-paced plot. There also were several moments where I actually gasped from shock due to some of the twists and turns; I mean, seriously, this book has everything you want in a good thriller - murder, infidelity, kidnapping, and more.

I enjoyed, especially, the narrative perspective and character of Jo and found the ending wholesome (I’d say more but don’t wish to spoil it!).

However, I have read many thrillers and this one just fell a bit short for me. First off, the first 100 pages or so did not feel very suspenseful, even with the opening crime scene. I also hoped for a bigger reveal at the end pertaining to Jo’s lie.

If you enjoy reading thrillers and want an easy-read that will basically guarantee you a few hours of enjoyment, pick up this book!

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookcouture for the advanced reader’s copy.
