The book was very well written, I thought the plot was quite twisty. I enjoyed the varying points of view divided by days, partially because as people I did not like these women and did not want to stay in their heads for more than a day lol. I hadn’t fully grasped the mafia-esque nature of the characters before committing to the book, and it’s not something I gravitate to. I do enjoy a good mystery to untangle and it delivered.

My gratitude to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the chance to read this book prior to publication in exchange for my honest reveiw.

How to Slay on Holiday by Sarah Bonner is a fast-paced thriller set in Mykonos, following Chloe Cooper, an heiress planning to murder her cheating husband, Scott, during a family vacation. The book delivers suspense, dark humor, and twists, with Chloe navigating a strained relationship with her husband, a suspicious sister-in-law, and a mysterious concierge. While it draws inspiration from other recent female serial killer characters, the story veers in its own direction, adding unexpected developments and twists that keep things engaging, though some may feel contrived.

The setting is immersive, with vivid descriptions of the villa, food, and coastline. While the plot is engaging, Chloe's character is inconsistent, making it hard to connect with her. The supporting characters, like Tori and Grace, have potential but lack depth.

The novel moves quickly, but key emotional moments and character dynamics are rushed. Despite this, the story is still an entertaining, twist-filled ride for fans of domestic thrillers. While not perfect, it’s a fun, fast read with plenty of intrigue.

A family holiday to the Greek Island of Mykonos sounds absolute bliss. Lazing around all day by the swimming pool and nice dinners out in the evening perfection.
On this holiday Chloe wants her family and In laws to see how much she loves her husband Scott where in fact she actually has other plans for him. Well I enjoyed this book so much. I was laughing out loud after the first few pages. It’s a quirky and funny read. I loved the cast of characters and watching how they developed over the course of the book. They were certainly an interesting bunch ! I found this to be a fairly fast paced read with plenty of twists and turns and an ending I certainly didn’t see coming. Sarah Bonner is a new to me author but as soon as I finished reading this, I went straight to Amazon and downloaded more of her books to my kindle.

PSA: as with its predecessor, this is not an instructional manual. This is an entertaining crime thriller, not a how-to-slays -on-holiday!!! But going to Mykonos is murder for Chloe!

Chloe is on holiday with her family and her in-laws. Sounds an absolute nightmare if you ask me. And that’s before you throw in the family politics, manipulations, rivalry of these two not so clean cut tribes.

What I will say is, this set up is amusing in a thriller kind of way. Bonner sets her story out by the day and each day is told by a different character. Each had their own characteristics and thought processes. Some have motives …

Despite the similarity in name, you can definitely read How To Slay In Holiday without reading its predecessor. These are both highly entertaining and addictive reads. You have to read them if you want a darker murder mystery with a slight comic feel. I’m loving what Sarah Bonner has to write and I can’t wait to see what she puts out next!

This was a quirky, dark, humorous book. I wasn't sure what to expect at all. I saw the cover, skimmed the blurb, and jumped into the audiobook. I was hooked straight away when I was listening to Chloe's chapters. I was struggling with Tori's and Grace's chapters and contemplated reading instead of listening. However, once I sped the book up and we got to the spa scene, I forgot my issue and was well and truly hooked.

So much is happening, in the UK and Greece! And then Uncle George and Aubrey came to the apartment, you just knew things would be intense. So many spider webs linking everyone—families you do not want to mess with. However, I didn't get a definitive ending!! I need more, I have questions. What I did get was the most EPIC epilogue ever! I loved it! I wasn't expecting it and I had to rewind it because I was sure I couldn't have heard that right. Pure gold.

This was great fun to read, Chloe, naive but on a mission, Tori on her world domination and with plans to link up with Grace! I need a sequel. Do these girls get what they most desire??

I loves.hps the book was written, with the characters talking to you directly, telling you what was going on and how we are all pretty much a sucker for a guy with nice eyes.

I thought it was cleverly done, the over arching story was quite sad, but will we ever know the truth?

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC

A fast paced and fun thriller. I loved how the book started rather normal as a family vacation but then layer after layer was peeled of a dysfunctional family. The murder mystery was engaging and the tension was high. I did not see the final twist and was really impressed by it! A fabulous thriller

I loved the Women in this book and yeah in some situations they are unlikable and even annoying but then there are other situations when i am really rooting for them and i am invested.

The premiss of this book was so good - who wouldn't like to read a book about a wife who's been planning her husband's murder?! Initially I loved how the book was divided as well - separated by days. However... something didn't feel natural. Each day had too much information.

It started to feel forced, like an information overload that left you more confused than not. Like... what am I supposed to do with the knowledge that everyone is crazy? Should I still root for Chloe even though I'm not feeling anything towards her? No sympathy, empathy - not even anger. The characters needed more dept - and it's sad that I felt like that with so many chapters. Even with multiple POV's, I found it hard to feel anything for anyone. They're just... a bunch of loonies together.

I didn't hate it. I was just... bland. Nothing special.

As we get to know the main character, Chloe Cooper, through the book, we realise that she and her entire extended family aren't what they seem.
We do know right from the beginning that she wants to kill her husband, and I agreed with her more and more as we found out about her past.
When he is killed though, was it actually Chloe or does everyone have a reason to kill him?
I didn't see the twist at the end coming. Bravo!
What starts off as a light hearted story about an extended family holiday, turns into an interesting delve into family dynamics and the power of female friendships.
I'd love to be part of the new business formed at the end too.

This was my first Sarah Bonner book and I enjoyed it. How to Slay On Holiday has the same vibe as Dial A For Aunties or Finlay Donovan is Killing it.... but with drug lord families.
Chloe has a plan to take out a hit on her awful husband who did something unforgivable years ago. But first she plans a beautiful family trop to Greece to put on a show of being happily married. So when he dies at home the following week, nobody would suspect his loving wife. However he ends up dead in their bed in the vacation villa and Chloe wakes up covered in his bed and next to his body with no recollection of the previous night. Now everyone is a suspect n the body needs to be hidden, and the drug cartels are on the verge of war.
I liked the pacing of the book as well as the shifting narrators. The twist at the end was with the read. I am curious about what happens to the characters after they go home. This is great vacation reading if you are looking for a lighter thriller.

Chloe Cooper, nee Wilson, has organised a luxurious family holiday on a Greek island, bringing together her own family and that of her husband, Scott. She's going to show the world how great her 10 year marriage is going. Because it will be Scott's last holiday. Chloe has ordered a hitman to kill him once they get back.

Plans soon fall apart when Scott's model/influencer sister proves she's more than a dumb pretty face, and has cottoned on to what Chloe is planning. And is all for it, except she wants to see it happen.

Plans are thrown into chaos when, after a night out at a club with the girls, Chloe wakes up next to Scott's body.

With both families running their own rival crime syndicates back home, Scott's death has wide reaching ramifications. Who really did kill Scott?

I loved this fast paced thriller - it's a perfect sun-drenched read for on the beach in the sun or curled up under a blanket on the sofa.

This book was a perfect summer read, taking me to Mykonos and quickly delving into murder. A fun read, I disliked every character, and with enough happening to keep you guessing and wanting to get to the end. I didn't have to think too much and could just sit back and relax and be glad I'm not on a big family holiday!

Sarah Bonner is fast becoming an auto read author for me, two books read by her so far and both total winners in my book.

I was completely addicted reading this story, which starts off as a nice simple story - all Chloe has to do is play the loving wife for a week's holiday in Mykonos and then no one will suspect her of being behind her husband's murder when he dies the following week.

And the more I learnt about Scott, the more I agreed, he deserves to die and Chloe seems totally lovely.

But well best laid plans are only good if no one discovers them, and its turns out no one is quite what they seemed. And the more we learn the more intrigued I was, and hooked on finding out what would happen next.

There is a fabulous mix of characters on this extended family vacation, and with both families being involved in what sounded like not completely above board activities (to put it mildly), there are all sorts of interesting dynamics at play.

And I would never have predicted how any of this would turn out.

I couldn't get enough of this book, and I loved all the lies, deceit, good intentions and more, even if I was left wondering who exactly I was meant to be able to trust.

I just loved this book a lot and whizzed through the pages oblivious to the world around me.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Chloe is on holiday with husband Scott and her extended family. Little do they know that she plans to kill him and has mapped it all out. Soon family rivalries appear and cracks begin to show. Will she manage to succeed?

I enjoyed this author’s previous book, How to Slay at Work, so was keen to read this new one. This continues in a similar fashion, with a humorous take on the female serial killer trope and was a fun read. I also enjoyed the twists and turns the story took.

There were a lot of characters introduced, which at times I became muddled with and some were not overly developed. I found that I didn’t really form any connections. I also found the book to have a slow start and it took a while to go anywhere. Even though I preferred the previous book I read by this author, this was still a darkly comic, entertaining read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

As someone who loved How to Kill Men and Get Away With It and characters like Villanelle, I had high expectations for this book—especially with Mykonos as the backdrop. Unfortunately, it fell short for me. The biggest issue was the lack of context around Chloe and Scott’s relationship; it didn’t feel developed enough to justify her wanting him dead. On top of that, despite the story being told from three different perspectives, the voices all blended together, making it less engaging and it came across as lazy writing. I wasn’t a fan overall but pushed through out of curiosity about the ending.

How to Slay on Holiday by Sarah Bonner is an intriguing blend of domestic drama, thriller and witty dark humor.
Chloe is absolutely fed up with her marriage to her husband Scott. When she comes up with a calculated plan to murder him, she knows that she must have a solid alibi. Planning a giant family vacation with both sides of the extended family seems to be a brilliant idea. Who would suspect the lovey-dovey wife of being the mastermind? But you can't always assume that your plans will turn out the way you want them to. With the murder plot disintegrating as quick as Chloe's love for Scott, things go from bad to worse when Scott's sister starts asking some weird questions hinting that she may know the real reason behind this vacation.

I really loved this book! This was a twisty, fast-paced read that was dark and hilarious. There are quite a few characters but I really like the three different point of views. Relatively short chapters keep you engaged and don't even get me started on that ending! I highly recommend this book for fans of Katy Brent and Asia Mackay!

Thank you to NetGalley, Sarah Bonner, and Boldwood Books for this ARC. Expected publication date is February 27th 2025.

This story was a really fun holiday read!

It takes place over a week in Mykonos, where Chloe has taken her family and in-laws (who happen to be rivals in the world of illegal drugs) to cover up that she’s hired a hitman to kill her husband. But not everything is as it seems, and everyone has their own agenda.

I really enjoyed the multi-POV narrative, as it allowed for a more in-depth look at each character and their motives. I also found the story funny and easy to read, however I did feel as if it was a bit fluffy in parts.

Overall, it was a lot of fun and honestly gave me White Lotus vibes but I do think some of the plot lines could have been tied up earlier. 3.75⭐️

I've newly discovered this author and love her writing, this is one of her 'lighter' murder books and I like the writing style. I like that we had the story from different character point of views.
I thought this was heading in the one original direction, then swerve, it got even more interesting.

Sarah Bonner is slaying again with her new book - How to Slay on Holiday.

"Chloe has been planning her husband's murder for months. And now she has the family together at a luxury resort on Mykonos so they can all see how much she loves her husband - and no one will be suspicious. But some of the family are acting odd. Does someone know what's planned? Can Chloe get off the island without adding to the body count?"

This starts out slow because it feels a little predictable - until Bonner zaps you with some big surprises. Chloe belongs to a big crime family. And her husband Scott belongs to another crime family. There's plenty of tension. You will shake your head at rich people doing rich people things - like losing their mind because there's no oat milk. Or the sister-in-law wanting to go to a certain restaurant just for the social media opportunities.
Plenty of red herrings from Bonner.
I liked the setting in Mykonos. That was our favorite place on our trip to Greece.

I did guess one little twist (but it was just a guess) The ending got a little wild but I like how it turned out. Maybe we'll get more stories from these characters.

Fans of Dark Comedy should read Bonner's books.
